Very nice guys. I was in a band called Angry Young Bees and one night we played at the Rat along with the Trademarks. In the dressing room between sets, one of them made a very smart comment that must have influenced me because I thought of it frequently in subsequent years: "You know, 99% of us who play in bands are never gonna be famous or make our living from our bands, so we better be having fun!" Thanks to whichever guy said that - and I hope he's still having fun, whatever he's doing.
They were a BLAST to go see and dance to! I have many "bootleg" tapes of their performances (I brought a tape recorder into the club in my purse "back in the day"), but only a true fan that saw them and heard them in the glory days can possibly listen to the tapes. :-) The songwriting duo of Dave Morrison/Jack Moran were great! (see my blog about what Dave is doing now at sued51 on Word Press (from boston band members to poets a tale of two daves)
I used to work for Dave's brother Tim at the Arlington location of RBR. Dave, Tim, Bobby, Liz, Karen, Elaine....if any of you see this, its Greg. Message me! Especially Karen.....
Used to see them as RipChord years ago and then as the Trademarks back in the late 70's when Jack worked in a convenience store in N. Woburn and Dave worked at a sandwich shop his brother owned (or managed) in the same strip mall. Some great memories.
I never heard of this band before. I love this song though! what are the names of the 3 singles mentioned that they released? I saw a track listing for the comp mentioned and the trademarks are mentioned in the tracklisting. maybe they are on a different comp?
Few know that music store owner Barry Bumpus from Melrose Mass. managed these boys. They were originally called RipChord and played North of Boston. Then Jack visited Barry's music store and got a part time job and a manager. Jack went on to form Diving for Pearls with new vocalist Danny Malone (also on youtube). Guys if you read this...I'm in Arizona.....reply if you can. Barry
Wow, this is really cool. I never saw this incarnation of the band - I knew them after Danny Malone joined. They were indeed the hardest working local bands with more hooks than should be allowed any band...:) Anyone have Waitress Princess?
OH MY GOD!!!!!!! One of my fave bands from back in the day!!!!! These guys were SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOGOOOOOOOOOOOOODDDDD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!! WHAT A FLASH BACK>>>>>I GOT A TEAR IN MY EYE!!!!!
Thanks for sending the link to this. Dave is such a baby I didn't recognize him at first! I'm sorry our paths only crossed later, and that I didn't know about the Trademarks when I was in Boston way back way back when.
Rick Hollowell bass, Matt Langone guitar and vocals, Chris McCauley drums and vocals, Jack Moran keyboards, Dave Morrison vocals and guitar. From 1980 - 1984 the Trademarks were one of the hardest working bands in Boston, playing anywhere at any time in New England. The band released three singles and were included on the Wicked Good Time anthology.
Thanks for posting this video - I didn't think it still existed.
You seem to know alot about the boys. I was their manager for nearly 3 years and have been trying to track them down. Any help? If you're in touch with any of them tell them Barry Bumpus was looking for them. Thanks.
Any idea where any of these guys are now? I use to manage them years ago and lost touch. Last I was aware Jack and Danny Malone signed with Epic as Diving with Pearls...Chris married and had son Adam with wife Debbie...the other guys I don't know...any leads would be appreciated. Thanks.
(WriterRocker, you sound like a member of the Trademarks.) I auditioned for the band before Danny (Sonny?) was chosen. I think I still know all the guitar solos and harmonies....I loved your music. This video brings back a lot of memories. Paul L.
