  • our perspective in the UK & USA is seriously warped, we are not the "good guys". we are guilty of everything we accuse others to be but we are so self righteous and proud that we just cant see it

Lets look in our own back yards and see whats going on there before we start pointing the finger at others, there are few things worse than being a hypocrite.

  • I hate war. I dont know why we think we can eliminate all taliban, Think hard. They blend in with normal citizens and they use ieds and hide. Its almost impossible, Its like trying to find a needle in a hay stack. Damn Why don't we just get out of their. Were pretty much policing were not even fighting execept Iraq. Were their to Fight not to be Police.

  • well maby you will be whining when your dollar crashes, The terror is in USA. You have been brainwhased.

  • Good question, hope you get chosen.

  • You cannot win an unjust war.

Now the freedom fighters are going back into Afghanistan and are fighting there. After awhile, they will go back into Iraq.

And so on and so on.

You may as well get a job working for either KBR or Haliburton.

At least that way they can pay you for the next ten years instead of the other way around......

  • ODFGAJSDFAS SERIOUSLY? ARE YOU SERIOUS? OMG, can you not understand. If you see someone doing something unhealthy like drugs or something would you not tell them to stop for their own safety? HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF AN INTERVENTION?

  • You have no idea what you're talking about. You didn't learn from vietnam and you will never learn. Just saying that I'm not being patriotic is not a real arguement. The war is stripping our freedoms you idiot. And you are clearly for stripping my right to oppose what is obviously a war which is NOT in our interest. You are anti american, because the war is taking america under and if you support it you hate america PERIOD.

  • Oops thought the first one wouldn't post. Anyways, give me one solid reason we need to be there. Iraq didn't attack us on 911, we still don't have osama 5 fucking years later. You have your blinders on. I love America, you don't have any idea what is in Americas interests. Like I said give me one good reason. I can't believe you're really throwing the patriot card at me when you don't know wtf you're talking about.

  • No you are the traitor. If you think just because america is doing it that it's the right thing to do and it's something "winnable" then you're seriously mistaken. I'm going into the service right now for your information. Open a history book, can't you learn anything from vietnam? Also, are you not paying attention to the reasons we went in? and how we were wrong about everything? I guess you are just stupid.

  • Because they're stupid??

  • Ron Paul is the only one with a chance, and he's a republican who wants us to get out of Iraq.

  • We won't win, and we need to get out, but don't blame all this shit on republicans only, go look at the war voting record by the democrats, and if you don't believe me listen to Mike Gravel, one of the democratic party's presidential candidates. They are supporting the war also. Seriously watch some of the democratic debates and listen to him.

  • As for him trying to show his father he is a man... WTF.. hes the president of the united states! Is that not man enough? I think it is, I think your THEORY there is just ANOTHER excuse for the liberals to cry and wring their hands.

  • if not a leader of a hole country is not smart enough, at least someone on hawaii is smart enough to see that.

  • Excellent point.

  • Cheney did not run for pres. YOur comments show your complete ignorance in understanding the bigger picture. your welcome from my soldiers.

  • anonomouse, cheney has been the president for 7 years.

you dont honestly think bush is calling the shots do you?

he is just there as beef cake, you know, photo ops in tight blue jeans clearing brush......

you know most republican males downloaded that photo..

  • very interesting question! this is definitely good to see how the candidates think.

  • I was disgusted by Rudy Guiliani's cheap response to Ron Paul, as if living in New York during the September 11 terrorist attacks makes him some sort of expert on the motives of Islamic terrorists. Whether or not we want to admit it our country has some major issues to resolve regarding monetary policy, or our children will have a big mess to fix.

  • brianhg, how many times has guiliani said "god bless george bush"?

    and compared him to lincoln?

  • The difference is many Iraqis want us there, including the government. The US didn't invade Iraq to go after innocent Iraqi civilians; the US is trying to stop those who set off bombs in crowded marketplaces. The US is there to defend innocent life, yours as well as theirs. I don't think we should stay there forever but - your comparison shows a real lack of perspective.

  • How do you know that the Iraqis want us in Iraq? I have read a number of independent polls where a large majority of Iraqis felt like their quality of life has decreased since we went in.

I realize that some Iraqis do want us there, but from what I understand the situation there is very hopeless. Assuming you live in America you have no position to judge what the Iraqis want.

  • I have heard polls go either way, but I've heard US politicians say they should have a vote whether we stay or leave. My point is it's a fundamental difference from his scenario. I've lived many places - you live in America and are in no position to judge what Iraqi's want? I've no problem letting them decide. I don't think you know what has been accomplished or changed in Iraq either, it's just you hear everyone in the US moaning about the usual. :|

  • My point is the scenario isn't comparable, you can debate the success or failure of the Iraq war all you want - but it still isn't a comparable operation.

  • brian, unfortunatly does america fall under the lesser of 2 evils?

as far as Iraqi's are concerned. i don't know.

what i do know is that americans are dying every day, and a country needs its general population to decide exactly what they want.

    history tells us this.

  • Of course I am in no different position to judge. I feel like this war was poorly planned, and doomed to fail from the beginning. Anyone that cracked a book in high school could tell you that getting the Sunnis and Shittes to agree on a single constitution is an unreasonable expectation.

  • brianhg, the iraq was was doomed to fail in helping the iraqi people. but succeded in helping haliburton win 13 Billion in contracts, and KBR 18 Billion.

so in the eyes of bush, cheney and any republican who is affiliated with iraqi contractors.........

well, they have a vested interest in the iraq war never stopping.

can you say, bye bye social security?

  • ROFLMFAO, Bye Bye social security? WHAT!? Even someone your age should have never even thought about social security, we've known its not going to work out even before the war in Iraq... And even so, according to you liberals, we are just blowing money anyway, why wouldn't we be able to afford social security for everyone?

  • Your right, but with a dictator in office, Iraq had no chance whatsoever of doing that.

But I guess we should just go back to the old days... Beers for everyone, all on Hussein's tab!

  • toosweet, america did not invade iraq to help them.

america invaded to secure oil fields, and so that bush could prove to his father that he is a man, instead of the coward that he actually is.

if you feel that america should be there forever, then i advise you to go there immediately, and never return, since that is your wish.

  • "I don't think we should stay there forever..." I think you missed something? Oh, and less then 4% of US oil comes from Iraq, doesn't seem very cost effective to start a longterm war over 4%. Sure oil is an important resource, but I don't think it isn't the reason the US invaded Iraq.

  • american armed forces are in 3 of the top 5 oil reserved countries in the world.

because we love to spread sunshine, flowers and candy.

  • jun, insurgents will not let us have the oil we so desperatly deserve to make up for 9/11.

but at least cheney delivered the goods to his co-horts.

    god bless money!

  • @DennnisC

Isn't it fucking sad how a civillian can solve half of the problems america has. Like the war on terrisiom is impossible to finish. Its like Vietnam we are just fighting traps and ieds.

  • Don't state your theory's as facts.

What proof do you have that they went for oil fields? According to YOU and your liberal buddy's, going over there was unlawful anyway. So if it was oil we needed, why wouldn't bush have just taken the oil from Alaska? Its your liberal activists who are keeping us from drilling there.

  • tootsweet, a real perspective would show how many iraq's have died since we invaded.

are we the lesser or greater of 2 evils?

  • I don't know, but there is a saying "it gets worse before it gets better" and it's pretty true.

  • tootsweet, we invaded iraq so that Cheneys company could make 31 Billion Dollars.

you know, the one he quit as CEO to run for president of the u.s?

republicans will fight for the continuation of iraq, so that their friends will make money, then they can go work for them later as Board Members,or as Consultants.

  • As pessimistic narrow as that is, I wouldn't be surprised if that does play a factor. I would like to see more oversight on conflicts of interest for people in power. My point is though, your scenario isn't comparable. :|

  • iraq was invaded without a valid reason.

we should have invaded Saudi Arabia, since they had 75% of the 9/11 highjackers......oh wait, we already have their oil.....

  • Good question dude. We will never win in Iraq and there won't be piece while we are there. American blood will continue to flow every day we are there. We are becoming oppressors in Iraq against the ideas of our founding fathers. The world will see us as oppressors.

  • That is a very good point that really never seem to get made by the usual talking heads. Why don't we imagine what it would be like if the same thing happened to us. Excellent point. That's sort of what I was trying to illustrate with my own question, but on the topic of religious fundamentalism... Mahalo my friend!

  • zed, we will not hear mainstream make this point, because we want to profit.

it does not profit some men to have values.
