  • I've made far worse vintage synth demo's than this so don't flatter yourself!!! :p

PS, I just scored a LinnDrum, pretty much MINT!

  • Its not 100% digital it used analog filtering to clean up the low bandwidth. I believe curtis chips.

  • what year did you buy this? and how much did you pay for it at the time?

  • @mrsoundwave I bought this about three years ago and paid, I think, around $850.

  • how many songs can it hold mmm thinking of getting love the retro sound

  • lol at 1:22 ... thought it was my cellphone

  • worst demo video i've ever seen, congratulations

  • @shayeasy absolute agree.... ^^

  • So stunning, gawd how I want one of these so BAD!

  • i missed one of these on craigs list by a day for 250.. just this last week .. oh well. i got my drumtraks..

  • Oh' come on, youtube might have compression, but it can still sound hi-fi- it's that crappy mic on your camera. 90% of people showing music gear show stuff worth hundreds of dollars yet they can't invest $24 on a 4 channel 1/4" jack mixer. Run your drum machine/organ/guitar through that, a mic to talk into and then run the output of the mixer to your computer mic/line in.

  • @paulj0557 Reason for that being I made this when I was 15 and was super excited about just having the Linn so I decided to make a video of it. Didn't exactly want / need to invest in a mixer or anything for that.

  • @ThemFunnyLookinGuys How can a 15 year old afford a Linndrum?

  • @VincentsVideoVisions I saved my money

  • @ThemFunnyLookinGuys

    LOL Funny

  • @ThemFunnyLookinGuys Can't think of a better way to spend your money! Most 15 Year olds making music are all in the box! Keep rocking!!

  • Is this what New Order used on Blue Monday?

  • @spectres00 YES! And countless other artists on almost every 80s song you can imagine

  • @spectres00 That was an Oberheim DMX which is pretty similar to the Linn actually, they both use EPROMS.

  • I bought an LM-2 at a yard sale here in Camas, Washington about 8 years ago for 10 bucks; I used to sync it to my Fostex R-8 reel-to-reel. Now I use it by playing it "live" onto my Pro Tools system. I can put each drum onto its own track; fun and cool at the same time; fits right into the genre I write and record into.

  • could u of did anything more basic =P cool pitch roll

  • Awesome Drum Machine where did you score it ?

  • Try New Order's Blue Monday on that piece.

  • i've had the same mobile phone ;)

  • God I was hoping you would press the Cowbell button...

  • @noseyb

    Me too !

I think Princes cowbell button is broken on his !

  • I just prefer old equipment to new stuff, I guess.

  • me too.

  • Seriously, this might have been a good piece of equipment back in the day........... but honestly if you dont already have one why go buy this? They were supposed to come out with a new one last year and still havent provided a date for release of the new Linn Drum II......

  • @jedibills1 it's been released for a long time.

  • This box was the beginning of the end for many session drummers. This demo doesn't demonstrate the true audio quality.

  • You can thank Youtube's great compression for that

  • even without yt's compression it would sound horrible

  • looks sounds neat. and is alright

  • u have a pink phone :)

  • the first seconds sond like beat it by michael jackson

  • Is this the drum with that world-famous snare-drum recycled beat so prominent in '80s slow songs?

  • I really dint want this drum machine atall for many Ed THE SOCK moment's.

  • really like how you manage the drum rolls, will try it. thanks

  • i have a feeling that Daft Punk used the LinnDrum while recording Discovery.

  • They have a real groove too, quite different to say, Roland's groove.

Was this transferred over to the MPC series when Akai took over?

  • This machine is legendary.

The snare drums on that machine are unique & I can't find them anywhere else (Prince - When Doves Cry/ Erotic City.

Examples of what this machine is capable of.

    Have fun!!!

  • @ShynAwkward the kick is also fucking awsome!

    one of my favorites

  • I wish i had some realy high quality samples of them.

If anyone do, please PM me and we can trade sum drum samples =)

  • @ShynAwkward

Actually...prince used the LM1. this here is the LM2..a different machine.

  • It's digital

  • Are you positive? Everyone I've talked to has told me it's analogue.

  • Yes ,the LinnDrum uses digital samples of real instruments. Analog drum machines (such as Korg MiniPops, Roland CR-78 & TR-808) use electronic circuits to synthesize the drum sounds. However, ther Roland TR-909 is an analog/digital hybrid machine with digital samples for the hi hat, ride & crash cymbals, but analog circuits to create the other sounds (bass, snare, toms, rim shot & clap). The LinDrum is still a great sounding machine even today after 25+ years. I wish I hadn't sold mine.

  • but it DOES have analog filters.

  • @ThemFunnyLookinGuys

whoever told you that has no idea of what they are talking about.

This is 100% digital in it's sound generation..can't you tell?

  • Love the ''bloody phone''bit, excellent thing that linndrum
