Time lapse can be made very easy also using a Canon compact camera with CHDK loaded in it. This is a very powerful and cheap solution for many nice 'tricks' that can be done with a digital camera, not just time lapse. I own an old Canon A530 and i'm pretty happy of what I can do with it using CHDK.

What kind of camera do you use? And what accessories do you use? Like is there a setting that automatically takes a picture every 20minutes or is it some unfortunate human that has to snap the shots?
@dindalion14 int rec (interval record) is available at a lot of video cams, most of those i've had. you dont have to take the pictures yourself, the cam does it through this int rec function, that you have to activate ;)
