  • The child watching the t.v. kind of reminds me of Michael Myers from the back.

  • kid is sayin "who is that ugly baby on tv"

  • this video is retarded, and you are retarded for watching it.

  • gay baby

  • huh?

  • the kid is naked because???

  • because he is hot !!! hahaha

  • i dont get it

  • because a mirrow is realtime, and availiable whenever the kid is ready to learn, and not when someone thinks they have to do it...

  • self awarness is done with a mirrow, and not with video..

if you do it with a video, the kid will have serious problems in later life.

  • Why would he?? Wouldnt it be the same is in a mirror...although i suppose with a video they are forced to watch it..

  • This kid is going to get brain damage if you keep doing this. That's all I'm sayin'..

  • I don't get it. All kids like to watch family videos of themselves even when the rest of the family get's bored with it in 10 minutes or less and are asking themselves "Why did we film all this??"

  • How is this an experiment? What was the method applied, how many children took part, and how were the observations tabulated? Also, there are two things going on here... technology and recognition of self... how are those considered as impacting one another? I'm just trying to understand the context of this clip...

  • glad someone understands how a real experiment is done correctly... using the scientific method.

this is an observation, nothing more.

  • One of my good friends!

  • what was the purpose of this? and why the red hugh?

  • Th reddish colour is because of it being an old video from VCR tape.

The purpose was to bring an awareness in the child's mind about identity. By viewing himself on video.

  • my 4yr old is a big ham. he loves to watch himself on vidio. loves having his picture taken. Does your experaments show kids with early self awareness, and identity to be more intellegent or more confident? I might suppose to say yes.

  • I like to put lipstick on babies noses, and let them look in the mirror. It is interesting to see at what age they can understand that the image of a person with something on their nose is them, and they try to take it off! Usually around 2 years old.

    I'm a full-time nanny...I don't just choose random children!

  • Very unclear. I ger why you did this video, although I don't think he could make the connection as it was very hard to see.Would have liked to see the original video 1st, and then a different camera angle to see his reaction to it.

  • That child is gonna be messed up. LOL

  • some of the scenes from the TV look almost holographic in nature...very cool indeed. it wasn't clear, did the child recognize him/herself? an experiment in self identity/self awareness. ohhh MrE, you never cease to amaze me...

  • Thanks for the video response! That's a grand experiment.

  • Nope. I watched twice. I also couldn't tell if the real-time child was xrying, or if it was the video-child, so that confused me, too.

    Sorry, I over-analize everything! :)

  • Does anyone notice anything else unusual in these scenes? I wonder if you can figure out what is slightly different.

  • i liked it. but did not notice anything peculiar. what is it?

  • what was the difference or change?

  • The only thing I could make out that was different was the TV was set on it's side, as the aspect ratio of the video was similar. Like you turned the video sideways (and the TV seemed to be the same). This was kind of creepy! I loved it.

  • The only thing I noticed was that the child got up and stopped watching the TV from the reflection in the TV screen...
