I've like watched the series 15 times and it still manages to get me by surprise at some points. The funny thing is that I can somehow relate to Raito, I feel exactly like him. That our society is rotten and evil people must be eliminated. If I would get the chance to do that, I would grab onto it. I am somewhat of a fusion between Ryuk and Raito. I can stab people in the back if I feel like it, but then again I love to play mysterious and just be a bit weird. This series is just breathtaking...

I never thought i'd like this show. I heard about it many times and it didn't sound like something i'd be interested in. However, it showed up on Netflix so I watched the 1st episode to see what's so special about it. Then I watched the 2nd...and the 3rd....and within a few days I had watched them all. While I thought it was getting a little repetitive after 20ish episodes, I still couldn't stop watching. The first half was definitely a lot more interesting, but I like the way it ended.

I love how they leave the afterlife to the imagination like that. Neither heaven nor hell. It implies that he just faces oblivion, but it leaves it open for just about anything. Do those who use the deathnotes become Shinigami, do they face oblivion. there are so many ways to interpret that.

That's why I loved reading the manga (haven't seen a ton of the anime). How many series have someone as the protagonist who is quite possibly the bad guy of the series?

Even then, if Light is the bad guy, then what's L? He's trying to catch him, but his methods aren't always firmly on the side of good either. That, and the battle of wits that ensue are awesome to read.

Yeah, it just becomes a snowball of morals. L has to be a little bad to beat Light, and Light thinks he has to be really bad (mass murder) to beat the evils of the world, and the evils of the world are doing all the crimes in the first place. And it's all facilitated by a creature of pure death who got so bored with killing people that he had other people do it for him. The underlying conundrum throughout the series is "Can evil truly be defeated by good alone? And how much evil goes too far?"

It starts with a highschooler who finds a notebook lying on the ground, with "DeathNote" on the front. He reads the instructions inside: "Anyone who's name is written within this book shall die." He scoffs at it, but he decides to test it and realizes with both horror and excitement that it does what it says. He decides to use it to rid the world of what he considers evil. Part of what is great is that it's hard to say if he's right or wrong. There is more to it though, you should see it.

Good question. The whole show is very complicated and unique,which makes it good,but a bit confusing.

I think even if you NEVER write in it,NEVER look in it,even if a shinigami follows you,you won't go to heaven or hell. That's the whole point of a death note...if you're lucky enough to dodge one then good for you. If you happen to cross one and pick it up then you're screwed.
