I'm thinking about getting a Peavey Vypyr, since I have heard it is a good beginner amp. But am still looking at the Line 6 Spyder III, too. I love the effect you're getting. Do you think a Peavey would be able to re-create it just as well?
I have yet to play the Vypr, but I've heard it has decent clean tones and outperforms the Line6 Spiders.. plus it has a USB port... I'd say try it out, check the delay and see how good it sounds on a clean tone.
there's another guy on here who does some MTB, I think he uses a strat. Their sound is largely effects driven. It should still be great, if you can get some delay.
You have an Epi SG (from what i read in your reply to someone else's question), but which one is it? G-400? I have a Telecaster Custom '72 and I love it to death, but it's not exactly conducive to playing fast tapping parts (and I really want to learn some Russian Circles :@)
BTW Dave doesn't really do it like that. It's much simpler. He taps power chords, while tapping the high notes. (saw it in a vid) But that sounds pretty sweet!
Hey, this was really great, I wish I had found it before I figured it out myself. Need to pull back on the feedback and time knob on the delay a little bit I think, but I get the picture without it being perfect. Thanks.
Dave Knudson tunes to Drop-D. I love Minus The Bear, so I've done a little bit of research. I think Jake is the only one that tunes to Standard. Usually in performances, Dave plays a bar chord and then the tap note. But people have different styles, so rock on man. I have a song that uses tapping. Look up DontBlastMeAwayNstrmntlVer by Satellite Stigma Please on Myspace. Some parts are tap.
Hmm...I tune my delay a little different for this...if I remember correctly, it was around 3/10 of a sec and I only had it delay for a ping of 3 or 4 with less attack...and that usually sounds pretty good for me, I think your delays could stand to fade a little faster, but that's just me...I'm using a combo of a digitech multipedal and a dl4...so who knows
Well, you got the notes down pat...so good job, man...btw, you're 'crisco twister' video is awesome, not sloppy at all. But I would recommend investing in a DL-4 or a DD pedal from boss.
I think Dave Knudson uses one of those line 6 delays. It's just a guess, but watching them live: I think the tempo is all queued up in the keyboardist's computer > drummer's headphone > drummer counts it out, and Dave just taps it in with his foot. Cool video though. I'm a subscriber now =-)
commented this a year ago and its still the best ive ever seen ahhhhh mind blown everytime

@nattobucket I was pretty bad at the "want to see more part" though.
Rob30 1 year ago
@Rob30 ohwell maybe sometime you'll work on that, when you have time
nattobucket 1 year ago
Read the description. I don't have a measurable delay setting. Just an unmarked dial. I know what Dave does.

nice werkz. got any original material to show (don't read that in a condescending tone, i'm genuinely interested to know)?

I'm torn between a Peavey Vypyr 30W and a Roland 15x (is 20 worth it?)
And are you sure the Peavey has USB support?

GREAT job.
I've wanted to play the guitar all my life but my parents always got my hopes up, and shot them down days before my birthday :(
Twice.
How's the Epiphone SG?
chocobolord 3 years ago
Great for the price. But my amp does most of the grunt work.

I'm thinking about getting a Fender strat once I have the money. How different do you think it would sound?

Yeah, it's a G400... but I did have to adjust the action on it to make it a bit easier to tap.
Rob30 3 years ago
Tabs? If you dont have them ill just stop being lazy and watch you..or just tab it myself by ear..god im lazy.

He dials in 200 ms, I think. For Pachuca sunrise atleast. And i think he uses more than one delay. not sure though

does Dave use a digitech digidelay or a boss delay pedal?
dabrownsound 3 years ago
Line6 DL4 for the most part... Boss for some songs. The only Digitech pedal he has is a whammy I think.

I just have a Spider II Amp with built in delay... can only ballpark in milliseconds, cant really customize it.

you're probably right, that would be the easiest way to get it right....I have one DL4, but use it primarily for loops, etc.
