The thing is that France wasted quite a few players over the years, especially Laporte. Chabal was doing wonders for Sale Sharks at number 8, Laporte never tried it there. Same with Traille at fullback, it backfired in (not so) spectacular fashion against England. It is a complete waste of talent. my fear today is that Lievremont is doing the same with Traille and Trinh-Duc at number 10. For me they are both centres. The only reason why Montpellier picked T-D at fly half is their limited squad.

From this particular tour I remember Chabal, Durand and Magne were excellent, Pape and Coux were trying the best they could but the rest of the team was sleepy or completely unexperienced (like Ouedraogo for his first cap). We would have never won those matches but with more support, it would have been a little bit less one sided. Chabal at least provided the spectacle, good on him.

What really sucked on this action is that none of the other French players are actually coming in support. Last weekend against the Argentina it was the same old pattern: Jauzion, Chabal and Rougerie made some good breaks through the defense and no one followed.
