  • Go see him live @ C.89 station to see what all he uses..... Pretty amazing and I've been watching him play since he was 12! :)

  • Just have a hard time wrapping my head around this one.. I love the music but I have a hard time understanding ho someone can make it look so easy. The timing, the coordination, the fact the he can "concentrate" on the laptop mean while..

  • @angulion I have no clue either--some people are just blessed with that kind of talent. x_x Matt Chamberlain is, in my opinion, another one of those people.

  • I love KJ but why aren't there any mics?

  • Holy fuck this is so dope I strive to be so creative... love

  • head banger at 6:10

  • So fucking amazing!!!

  • SHUT THE FUCK UP DJ

  • Awesome, but I'm a little confused: how much of the drumming is being done by that computer thingie? I swear I hear some weird mistakes when he switches it at around :40 and 1:37... either my eyes aren't fast enough to see what he's doing, or some of it isn't live... I want to hear only him.

  • @lonestarabd

Pretty much if it's a drum sound, he's making it manually with the exception of a few hi-hat notes here and there. The majority of the lesser sounds you hear are done via ghost notes (really quiet notes) which he does as 16th note accents on the snare. The only sound which he's not making is the bass riff. A lot of the drum sounds are syncopated, which he wouldn't be able to pull off without manipulating the tracks himself, which he can't because he's still drumming.

  • @Kazesan Thanks for that explanation!

  • Stagg Vintage Bronze ride!!

  • Could someone help me out with what equipment he is using in this video, to play the samples and loops?

  • This is amazing!!!

  • nice your talanted

  • THE CAPTAIN OF CRUNCH, THE SULTAN OF SWING,

    THE DRUM AND BASS DRUMMER.

  • dropped some filth, then the video cuts off !!!!

  • 2 people are too jealous to Like his talent.

  • He's got some wicked beats yo

  • Love the Vortex on c89

I cant believe i missed this Absolute Skills !

  • Why oh why did you join that Pendulum outfit? They have nothing to show case your talents!

  • @sharless1 Well said, Pendulum aren't even really Drum and Bass artists anymore. Rob Swire alienated lots of his loyal followers by trying to distance himself from drum and bass as a genre, hence the sh!t they are releasing on warner music....two words "SOLD OUT" google "rob swire" and "alienates fans" and you'll see what i'm talking about

but regarding THIS vid...KJ Sawka is a damned legend on the skins. and an awesome producer too!

  • @pheargoth I think what Swire feels he wants to do is the path he should take. I understand that people want bands to stay the same, but most of them experiment with new sounds. Ultimately it is up to the artist to decide what they want to do, not the fans.

  • wow. Compare THIS to what he plays in Pendulum....

  • What the fuck......??

  • You are a golden god!

    /bow

  • This dude is totally off the hook! He offered up an Ableton Live set of this track and it is a masterpiece to behold. Amazing to watch him perform.

  • Wow, I found out about him via his loops, but seeing him do what he does, and how he does it, just shows shy he is part of Loopmasters, and Drum & Bass History, truly an amazing performer and musician well done sir.

  • I know.. it's ... not a valid argument.. or has any real meaning. And I am probably wrong.

But-- this is the greatest living drummer.

There's soo much happening here technologically and then to just put that brute power on top of it. Amazing.

    Mastery in action.

  • Kaoss!

  • So Shaaarrrrrrppppp!!!!!!

  • this guys bad ass

  • A pleasant reminder that you can never have enough toys. : )

  • i'd like to see KJ Sawka battle the Jungle Drummer

    ableton com slash madbeatz

  • is there anywhere i can get a good quality version of his songs or something?

  • @zeromacon you can get em on itunes

  • Check his other videos on youtube, without a backing track!!,this guy is really good at what he does..

  • Go see him live and find out. I did, and he does.

  • @realhewdshug

well, instead of complaining, why don't u go check it out urself.

theres tons of vids of him on the "related videos" just playing drums.

and also, this is the kind of music this is. its not just supposed to a drum solo. its dn'b. if u even had a clue wat that was, it would make a lot more sense to u.

  • @realhewdshug The 'backing track' is himself laying it out as he goes along you knob. ` No pleasing anyone is there...

  • Im from san antonio. I would love for you to come to texas. Hopefully someone can get you to Austin.

    peace

  • thats not all hm his playing alone to a beat

  • lookahere. an expert!

    not..

  • @jtother182

its called drum n' bass and live sampling.

he produces everything live thru his computer, sampler, his pedals, korg kps, etc.

so he is rly doing it all. the "backing track" u are hearing is laid out by himself step by step.

also, watch his other vids and ull see how good he is too.

  • yesterday Buddy Rich, today guys like KJ Swake, eh! Respect man.

  • he is crazy :) in good sense

  • KJ Sawka...lol truly amazing...That is by far the sickest thing.... i have ever seen anyone do...

  • Kj sawka one of the greatest drum and bass drumer! He's sound is so spacy! Great!!

  • try choppin an apache break bit by bit the re-editing it not exactly back leaning

  • THIS IS FKIN FANTASTIC IVE BEEN SEARCHIN THE FKIN TUBE A LONG TIME FOR SOMTHIN THIS GOOD AN AFTER LISENIN TO IT 4 235 TIMES I DECIDED TO RITE THIS DOWN ---> o_O

  • i just love his "shuffled" rhythms.

    no 4-to-the-floor, pure drumfunk!

    a human drum-computer with some

slight offbeats here and there, which

reminds you he's still human ;-)

  • haha... if kj sawka is human then im micheal jacksons ghost =P.. i swear hes either part machine or from another planet. humans cant have that kinda rythm. haha

  • insane.....incredible ....AWESOME \m/

  • Sawka should come back to canada and rock the el mocambo again..... destroy the place like last time!

sawka, this new ish is amazing.....

  • seriously kcufing dope man.

    lord have mercy!

  • Yep, you're the champ right there.. I admire your musical talent. Other people think they are tough for making music via computer software, but this man nails it 1000 times more than any other digital easy backleaning sofa, snack eating person! The s h i t right here.....

  • Dude, I like your praising of Sawka, don't say what you're saying of 'other people'. I think every kind of music is awesome. People just should do what they want to do, not what they 'think is awesome' or 'what they think is hard'. Sawka here is having fun, doing what he loves, whether people like it or not. The electronic 'computer' guys are having fun too too, (albeit many of them are hype driven, but not all).

Check out Photek etc. They don't deserve the 'backleaning sofa' comment. :-(

  • I kinda get what you mean, i partially agree with you. I started making music via computer software on the Commodore Amiga, it evolved on the pc using Reason. I made music the way i liked it, having lots of fun. But the way this guy makes music. By making digital music every string, beat or whatever is exactly on time, up to the milisecond, but making music the way Sawka does forces a lot of respect. He does almost the exact same with his hands and mind. In my opinion you cannot compare both.

  • @adofilmpjes Let me clear one thing wether you play an instrument or not and only programm (Draw) music with a Sequencer Software... whatever buttons you press they never do the job of making the music for you...

  • @FilthyFakeKlown Therefore someone doing music only with a computer is the same as someone who play the tambourine is just another tool to make melodies so mad respect for the industry and the amateurs upgrading the music level everyday higher and higher!!! and ofcourse Kj SAwka well he is from another planet.. xD

  • Кросавчег!!! В мемориз!

  • f*cking GREAT !!! thanx

  • holy shit :|

  • Ha i love Kj's style and inspired me to mess around with a couple of samplers and jungle beats just great glad to see he came back again after last year
