  • Isn't 500 mg magnesium per day from supplements too much ?

  • So I am confused, why listen to a "Dr" about taking supplements that are packed in a tablet form such as that multi vitamin when tablets contain glues that are directly linked to cancer? Also, if you promote the use of large company "because they won't cheat you" then why are these large companies going out of business investigation for improper and incorrect ingredients? I suggest using a company that has all natural, FDA, GMP certified! They are out there just do the research!

  • Wow, you're the first person on Youtube that answered this honestly without promoting their own line of vitamins.

    Thank you very much Dr.

  • I do not take any supplement

  • Watching this guy makes me relaxed

  • I am taking the supplements from clinicians-choice. Is that a reliable company?

  • thanks dr OZ

  • Wow. Three minutes and twelve seconds of incredibly simple, yet useful information for us all! Thank you!

  • Dr. Oz what do you think about juice fasting

  • stay away from yeast unless you enjoy yeast infections.

  • Doesn't look as good without the makeup on.

  • TANK YOU DR. OZ!

  • Should teenagers take vitamins? Or is that only for old people? Not meant to offend.

  • @LoveLucia77 If you don't have an optimal, all-organic diet, it's good to take a supplement. A good, organic, multi is OK--I have True Essentials, a great line. If you are 18, you can get paid to take your vitamins. Plus get paid on your friends' cell phones, TV, internet & a lot more services! Create a good income without having to "get a job"

  • @liagarden How can you get paid to take vitamins?

  • @LoveLucia77 Too big to try to explain here. DM me--Lia Katzman (fb) or garden of lia at yahoo (dot) com

  • N for the record, those of you knocking the vit d supplements. Oz has said on several occasions, the sun is the best source of vit. D. However 15-20 min a day for fair skinned people, and an hour for darker skinned people. Furthermore he says in the winter months the states above the borderof texas which is more than half the country is not getting enough vit d

  • @realblackhart Just 15-20 minutes of sun on your palms, or your feet, is enough. you do not have to expose face to damaging sun-rays. I know in the winter (in WA) that is hard to get. If it's not too cold I will stick my hand out the window of the car as i drive down the road, palm facing the sun. Get a full-spectrum light and set up by the chair where you work on computer, read, or watch TV. Or take about 1000-4000 units of Vit. D daily. In CA i never had to worry about getting enough sun!

  • @liagarden Vit D or Vit D3

  • @realblackhart I would say Vitamin D3. I hope liagarden explains it! I believe it is more bioavailable!

  • @WongeneKIM "Because D2 is the plant form many humans are completely unable recognize D2 or convert D2 into D3, they can take any amount of D2 (200000IU/daily) to no effect whatsoever either harmful or good"

  • Is it true that taking omega 3s takes vitamin E away from ur body and u need to take additional vitamin E?

  • That's a lot of vitamins. My grand mother is 92 and healthy and never took any of that stuff. Just saying.

  • @KrystaBelle32 She probably had good nutrition when young/good food to eat (before soil was depleted and chemical fertilizers and insecticides were used) and good genes. My grandfather lived to 96; his mother to 98 (from Russia) My mother's parents died in their 50's/looked 70 (from Poland)

  • It is important to supplement if you are not eating a healthy fish and organic fruits and veggies on a normal basis. The soil has been depleted from Corporate America and thats why its important to stay organic however many of you guys cant offered that so I suggest supplementing. Also Vitamin D you can get from the Sun. You dont need that vitamin just sit out in front of the sun for a bit. Research for high bioavailble supplements & dont use that A-Zinc crap nor any conventional trash.

  • If you've seen forks over knives, why do you still promote animal products?

  • LOL DID HE SAY U DONT HAVE TO BE SO ANAL ABOUT IT AT 2:40??

  • I wonder how many of these losers making recommendations are actually doctors.....I guess few to none. STFU and make your own video!!!!!!

  • @MsRESPECT90 Oh right I forgot I had to be a doctor to know about health. Pills good, plant food baaad. We can comment on health. Now to figure which is true is up to you yes?

  • the problem is Western countries are making the bad food cheap and the healthy food expensive.Im born and raised in Canada and i had to take pills while living there, no energy bad diet etc. Now im living in Asia i dont even NEED to take pills anymore. Everything is organic. Western countries where processed foods make the most $ in Asia they are a joke.. not even worth "emergency" food. They are not meals.. they are rare occasion snacks.

  • What's the deal on Protandim?

  • he's not showing the brands he's displaying in this video

  • anyone know what brand manufactures Omega 3 algae oil in Australia?

  • multivitamins are a waste of money, as so many vitamins compete for the same trasnport in the intestines to get into the blood. ALso, some vitamins deficiencies are RELATIVE. example is copper and zinc. You can have heaps of zinc in your system, but if you have too much copper, you will have relative zinc deficiency. Adding to the problem, such as using multivitamins, will make your symptoms and health worse. Please check for all deficiencies and relative deficiencies before prescribing yourself

  • @TheCougarKitten You are CORRECT! The MAJORITY of nutritional supplements are a Waste of Money - because they are Ineffective. But a remarkable new company - SISEL International - manufactures an Exclusive line of Cutting-Edge Breakthrough Super-Neutraceuticals that deliver incredible results never before available from any other nutritional supplements. Their ETERNITY for example is the First EFFECTIVE Resveratrol Supplement. It cured my Heart Disease! Visit: BigHomeRun (Dot Com)

  • @gfemg That be it as it may, but even these supplements can be detrimental and dangerous for the wrong people. One persons cure is anothers poison. I get research and marketing material sent to my clinic everyday, doesnt mean that their products wont be an expensive poison for some people. It is all about proper advised prescription for each individual. Multivitamins are rarely useful, generally only safe/indicated for people with malnourishment issues such as the many forms of anorexia

  • @TheCougarKitten , i agree to some point, you got to be carefull, supplements are not a cure all, just a helper, and you can get reactions form taking certain one, i know. i just take a multi-vitamin and mineral, and C at the moment , and this cost money

  • @foolsgold41 EVen taking a multi can be dangerous for some people. Supplements or vitamin therapy CAN be a cure for those with specific deficiencies. For others, it can worsen a excess or relative excess and make them terribly ill. Multivitmains overall taken ' for health' is a waste at the best of times, at worst dangerous.

  • @TheCougarKitten i cant remember what i even said, but hey i just take a multivitamin and mineral once a day and vitamin C when i get sick, thats all i take for now and screw all this other hype.

  • @foolsgold41 also : Be careful wth vitamin c, as some types can dampen or excentuate the ingestion of other nutrients, beside you can only ever ingest 200mg at a time - the rest goes out the other end. Check the research on ascorbic acid ingestion.

  • @TheCougarKitten

I agree, herbal supplements are better.

  • @CBasie2856 not better at all. Im a herbalist and nutritionist, and i can thoroughly say that neither are 'better'. Each has the potential, in the right dose for the right case/individual, to be either a cure, a waste of money, or even a poison. None are better or worse - prescriptions for indivudals however can be better or worse though.

  • @TheCougarKitten

but I rather trust in herbal medicine because its natural.

Plus I would rather take in actual "food" rather than isolated supplements and chemicals that are found in drugs.

  • @DrMehmetOz Sir Oz, I wanna get rid of my acne what is the best way to get rid of these I suffered from breakouts that freaks me out T_T. Thank You Sir!

  • @The19paul68 Green drinks. Alkaline diet.

  • i love dis man he so real and straight foward

  • Get a 2-month supply of fish oil for just $7.95 at HampshireLabs com

  • I recently had a heart attack and two stents were instered in my body.

However, rhe Plavix, baby aspirin and high blood pressure pills do not agree with my body. I get various side effects. Before this occurred I was feeling great. I take food supplements, exercise, watch what I eat. What do you recommendf to help me?

  • @jeaneleone1 See my post above - After having 4 Coronary Angioplasties over a 14-year period & accumulating a total of 6 Stents with no end in sight - Since I starting on ETERNITY (the highest quality Resveratrol supplement available) in Aug. of 2009 - I'm now 100% off heart meds, and I can hit 12 mph on a Treadmill! My heart condition is cured - my hair stopped falling out & grew back - and I'm more healthy at 60 than I was in my 40's! Visit BigHomeRun (Dot Com) and Take Back Your Health!

  • @jeaneleone1 You say "you watch what you eat." I see people avoid fat, yet create inflammatory condition in body/in arteries, which creates condition in which plaque can adhere to arterial wall. It's all about insulin. Keep carbs low to prevent insulin resistance--especially highly processed carbs, high-fructose corn syrup, (and other sugar) white flour products (even so-called whole wheat bread and breakfast cereal.)

  • This makes it difficult to take him seriously! What about minerals, probiotics and digestive enzymes?

  • This makes it difficult to take him seriously!

  • @Svernon2k41 , i will listen, but i dont take him seriously on everything he says, he's just a doctor, he's not god

  • Ahem. Go raw vegan. :)

    That is all. <3

  • Should we give this to our kids

  • What is best thing I can do for my stomach if it's warm and it hurts?

  • Big companies don't cheat you? Ofcorse not- Interesting he said at 3:02, so big companies are screwing us. Check out Codex Alimentarius on youtube, blakhair women talking, you'll see how much big companies care

Eat mostly fruits and vegetables raw - Nuts/seeds - Exercise - Sleep - Hydrate yourself, 3L or more a day. Me, I still don't trust fluoride, so..really do your homework properly(not just on fluoride) and look at both points.

And as you can see I didn't mention meat, milk, and other crap.

  • @XeenWoozy Actually. To properly absorb vitamins you need to eat fat(saturated fat especially.). So, in the long run, you are screwing yourself and others with this advice. Dietary fat, which comes from the food you eat, is crucial to the absorption of the fat-soluble vitamins, which includes vitamins A, D, K and E (water-soluble vitamins B and C don't need fat). I agree that milk is bad for you though.

  • @KinguNoKin Well if fat does help you absorb vitamins and minerlas, don't nuts and seeds give you sat fat(it also gives you omegas, which is better?)?=P I can't remember if sat fat was good for you. Pretty sure enzymes helps you absorb and well it's not like you need a lot of fat. There are a lot of information out there, it's pretty hard to say which is true? You should try it out, it's not like eating that for a month is gonna fuck you up :P Do it and check up with your doctor, ull be beast

  • @XeenWoozy Yes, good fats in nuts, seeds, avocado, coconut, olive oil, camelina oil, chia seeds, camelina seeds, flax seeds (use these in making dehydrated "crackers") Careful with walnuts. Many people have bad reaction (I do--can only eat a tiny bit at a time. My favorite way is a few chopped up pieces with sliced banana, yogurt, raw oats & real maple syrup) I often use them in the "crackers."

  • @KinguNoKin If you look, you can usually find raw milk (still) and high-quality cheeses and yogurts, kefir, etc. Yes, fat is very important. We've been brainwashed about fat being the devil. It is not fat that makes you fat, and it is not cholesterol that causes heart attacks. If you are not going to actually read the research yourself, go over to the Dr. Mercola website and watch some video about the research (some on youtube) Research cited in "The Zone" and "South Beach Diet" also good.

  • @KinguNoKin How and why is milk bad for you?

  • @5mikewwe92 They could have hormones injected in cows to produce more milk.

  • @XeenWoozy What's wrong with meat and milk? I've actually always thought that they were both good for your health?

  • @5mikewwe92 Well I don't know much, but meat isn't that bad for you we ate proper. All the hormones, whatever else they feed them and the stressful life they have effects its meat which we consume. We're also consuming too much when we should be eating mostly vegetables and fruits. No wonder people are getting diseases n' illnesses. People think its luck

  • @5mikewwe92 And Milk would be pretty good if it wasn't pasteurized and homogenized. Past. is heating it up and homog. is spinning at high temp. so it doesn't separate. Now when you do that, things dies. Can't remember if homogenized was bad, but I think it was

  • he has access to NZT-48

  • Hampshire Labs, Inc. manufactures a large selection of all-natural vitamins and herbal supplements that promote good health.

  • why hasnt dr.oz ever had an episode on sle-lupus and fibromyalgia? i have both of these deadly dieases and i have neeeever heard any talk shows talk about these dieases...im a 46 yearyoung white female...

  • @lynnricketts2003

I personally know a woman who has severe sle-lupus. She began taking a supplement called Protandim and within 3 weeks her symptoms are almost completely gone - she has energy again! Additionally, she has been able to completely come off of her prescribed medications.

  • @lynnricketts2003 Well have you tried eating healthy? And explain your definition of healthy

  • WOW Dr oz looks so handsome here!! Thanks for the info Dr Oz

  • Search the term Nrf2. (The the master regulator of the antioxidant response in the body). It's not a well known term yet but you'll soon start seeing huge support by the medical community for these types of products. This is the future of medicine.

  • Find the supplements that are right for you at iherb dot com. Use code COT477 to save $5, Great Omega 3 products and lots of vitamin D supplements to choose from.

  • Dr Oz you should have Anita Moorjani on your shaw./

  • DR OZZ, I TAKE LEVOTHYROZINE, COLCRYS, LIPITOR, ATENOLOL, FERROUS SULFATE. HYDROCHLOROTHAZIDE 81 MG ASPIRN A DAY FOR MY HEART. THEN I TAKE A 200 MG CELEBREX FOR MY ARTHRITIS. ARE THERE ANY VITAMINS THAT I SHOULD NOT TAKE...WILL THEY INTERACT WITH ANY OF THESE MEDICINES. LOVE YOUR SHOW! "SUE" NORTH CAROLINA.

  • @Suhou2809 Get off the meds! Green drinks for a month!

  • vitamin D and fish oil are the two absolutely essential nutrients that are both CHEAP and EASY TO ABSORB today. they aren't a boost but rather nutrients we dont get with our depleted foods today

  • what advice do you give to people suffering from liver related ENCEPHALOPATHY

  • Dr. Oz says "Why do we need vitamins? Most of us COULD GET the nutrients we need from our diet, but in reality most of us don't eat the diet that gives us those nutrients." Common Sense says: Doctors should stop encouraging us to pop pills to make up for the processed, chemical-laden, nutrient-deficient shit that most of us volunteer to poison ourselves with & start advocating excellent nutrition as the ONLY healthy solution to vitamin deficiency & disease prevention. Stand up for your health!

  • @TheGxf Good thing we have a real doctor here to keep us from taking a pill!

  • @TheGxf The problem is that our food doesn't have the nutritional value it used to many years ago. The point doctors are trying to make is even with a complete healthy balanced diet its still difficult to get all the nutrients you need mainly because the food itself doesn't have the nutrients it used to. It is a good idea for ANYONE to take a multivitamin in conjunction with your regular diet. I eat 3 healthy balanced meals a day and stay properly hydrated but I still take a multivitamin.

  • @TheGxf only problem is that to get a lot of healthy vitamins you would have to eat most of your calories from fruits and veggies, fruits are mostly sugar and veggies are only occasionally filling. i mean if you are trying to keep a clean diet you are going to need more protein, less saturated and trans fats and LESS SUGAR

  • Comment removed

  • @TheGxf Fruits & Veggies are the main sources of key nutrients we need to be healthy. The amounts of key nutrients in these food sources have dropped off dramatically over the past 100 years. Many of the vital minerals such as Selenium have been depleted from the soils across this country & around the world and as such they now are very scarce in fruits & vegetables. Our bodies can't make Selenium or any of the other 73 trace minerals required every day. Supplements are needed to fill the void.

  • @TheGxf Bro have you ever heard of Advocare?

  • Freakin Sheep. I've known all your marketing crap before you had a show.

  • Anxiety. Worry

  • He says take major brands - but never gives the names.

What are your major vitamin brands people??

  • @ouluvme2

Nature Made seems to be a good one imo

  • @chriscougar86 Not bad. Not great. Go to health-food store or you must know someone in Network Marketing who sells vitamins. I don't really "sell" vitamins, but we do have them in my company: True Essentials: Organic, whole-food, exceptional products. Thousands of testimonials to their efficacy and quality, health-giving properties. Melaluca hi-quality, too. (But we have a better compensation plan) Get paid to get healthy!

  • @ouluvme2 Network Marketing companies sell exceptional products. Health food stores good, too--don't buy cheapest, or most expensive. Forget about Centrum, One-A-Day or any synthetic crap. But U can get paid for taking ur vitamins-why do it any other way?? Costco or GNC ever send u a check? It's a no-brainer. Get paid to get healthy. (Also, 4paying ur other bills every month: cell phone, TV, internet.) Not only take responsibility for ur own health, but start building something for yourself!

  • There are a lot more great nutrients to take.

He would be taking 70 pills a day if he knew more about supplements.

    He could afford them too.

I would take a lot more but just can't afford to.

    ...

  • @SteveHoweJeffBerlin Take a vitamin, get paid. Wash your hair, get paid. Use a cell phone, heat or cool your home, watch TV, use the internet, get paid! It's a no-brainer!

  • The best multi is LIFE FORCE MULTIPLE, available at Amazon. Add CoQ10 and grape seed extract from Swanson VItamins. You don't need that horribly expensive mlm supplements. costing you 100+ a month.

  • Also, look at the ingredients listed. normal products say CALCIUM CARBONATE.. Do you knwo what this is? Look it up.. it is "It is a common substance found in rocks in all parts of the world" Your taking concret dust! "excessive consumption can be hazardous" You know GOD made our bodies to eat plant based food! not rocks. becare what yoru taking. Do research. There is only one company out there that has over 60 patents on a product that is 100% food based with 6 months money back. No risk!

  • Dr Oz and viewers..... I agree taking a vitamin is very important... but what is most important is making sure you are getting a real food-sourced nutrientes. These you mention on your video have synthetics in them. These companies use COAL TAR or PETROLEUM in them. You can TEST this by putting your vitamin in a glass baking dish and back at 350 degrees for 20 mins. If it is real food based it should turn brown like a turkey would.... black bubbles = tar or Petroleum!

  • @ShannonAllenLMT This is true, but we've ruined food so much since the 50s, that the nutrient profile of many vegetables today is much lower than it was pre-50s and before Monsanto and similar companies got their hands on our food.

I would honestly recommend everyone take at least a high quality multivitamin at the very least. An Omega-3 supplement from krill or fish is a huge plus also.

  • @LuniaVideo Can I get your email address or can you email me? I want to foward something to you.

    My email address is

    my_allen_family at yahoo.com

I am sure you will agree and love what info i send you.

  • @ShannonAllenLMT Not necessarily so--with the green-based liquid filled caps I used to sell 35 years ago with Neo-Life. Great vitamins. (Petroleum by-products, not petroleum.) Some synthetics have carnuba wax or shellack in coating, colors come from insect shells, etc (well, not if they're certified kosher). Yes, it does take a lot of research. Be an informed consumer--just like anything else. People will put more time & research into buying a phone or TV than what they put in their body!!

  • Dr Oz talks super fast. And he is Sanpaku in this video

too much info and too many topics

I found this vid googling COq10

  • im 15 and a begging body builder and i also do crew. i want to take some supplements such as whey protein and casein but my mom thinks that because im young that they will harm me. Should i take them or not?

  • @firecroch1996 Whey is shitty protein. Casein is a very inflammatory protein. I'd recommend finding some high quality egg white-derived protein before going to Whey. Of those 3, egg white is the best and casein is the worst. Whey is somewhere in the middle.

  • @firecroch1996 you don't need them. You are young and still growing. You need real food. Although a protein shake once in a while, with some fruit, yogurt, etc. will not do you any harm, help you bulk up. Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants (Michael Pollan) (True Essentials also has a great protein powder.)

  • Centrum or One a day? Need help!

  • @sXeish Neither!! Synthetic, waste of money; just goes down the toilet. Get a good, organic supplement from someone you know who sells them (Direct Marketing) or go to health food store, buy a good brand, mid-priced. Or get paid to take a vitamin.

  • I was able to find a great supplement line and a fish oil with 470 DHA. Seems to working great!

  • hey was looking at getting protein powder cause i need to build muscle for next years afl season which is aussie rules. cause im just to small muscle wise can you help

  • @nachospole1 Choose: Soy Protein, egg, milk, whey--so many choices. To each his own. Shake alone just extra calories. You need to really work out.

  • the absolute best place to buy supplements is from "beyond health . com " they have the highest quality vitamins available . just a side note , they are very very expensive .

  • in future we will be taking a tablet to replace morning breakfast, afternoon lunch and night dinner... world is changing !!

  • Big companies won't cheat you? Mmmm...

  • @fructmals Right, majority of the time the biggest companies are the ones who cheat u because they know dumbasses are gonna buy there product lol, like when people say Jordans are made with poor quality now, well he dont care u keep buying them for 200+.

  • Oh yes they most certainly do cause problems with bleeding. (fish oil(s))

  • dha, cal-mag-d, simple multivitamin

  • There is no Omega 3 supplement with 600mg of DHA, much less an affordable one. Usually you have to take two or three or four pills to obtain that amount of daily required DHA in an Omega 3 supplemental pill. And the other problem that I have is there are a lot of horse pills out there. And it's very difficult to swallow them.

  • @DarkReapersGrim Nordic naturals has a liquid. You could take flax oil. True Essentials are a good size--not too big. Or just eat a nice piece of salmon (wild salmon) twice a week.

  • Dr. Oz, thanks for this great info. Question: I heard you only absorb vitamin D from the sun so isn't it a waste to take a supplement? I have a natural medicine video series, please stop by when you can.

    Namaste,

    Lori Gregory

  • i like Dr. Oz but he makes me paranoid even about air. Im surprised he's not telling us to wear gas masks!

  • What about flaxseed oil and fiber?

  • I'm surprised he didn't mention a B-complex, as it's really beneficial to the central nervous system

  • is it safe to take centrum multi vitamin? is it good??

  • @jany0021 Its "safe" but synthetic and worthless. Get a better quality, like from health food store, or direct marketer. you must know someone.

  • @liagarden What kind of supplements exactly do you suggest or reccomend? I mean, almost All supplements are pretty much synthetic, right? So if I go to a health food store like GNC or Vitamin World, what should I look for?

  • @5mikewwe92 you can take dessicated liver, brewer's yeast, cod liver oil, wheat germ oil, flax seed oil, kelp, alfalfa.

These will give you just about all essential vitamins and minerals in their natural form. Not in large amounts like in synthetic products but again these are supposed to be insurance only. No need to take in large amounts.

  • Isotonix OPC-3 rules

  • Comment removed

  • THANKS

  • supplementation is such a scam

  • @GODKINGLANDON its Capitalism.... some of it is good though, like b12 and multi-vitamins.

ALOT of the supplements are not what they are cracked up to be but this is american consumer-ism / capitalism

  • @mrtundra45 Dost thou not realize that if one dost not have a deficiency, which most in modern nations do not, excessive nutrients are excreted through the urinary tract?

  • @mrtundra45 You don't need b12 supplements if you eat ANY meat. You are a consumer every day. What are you talking about?? (gasoline, electricity, shoes, groceries, paper, car, clothes, shampoo, cell phone, internet, computer, etc., etc., etc, Everything you own was sold by someone! Be an INFORMED consumer

  • I'm surprised he only takes those...I bet he's so freakin rich he can take as many supplements as he wants!

  • @cocorosiedream What other supplements should he take then? Those are the most important.

  • Calcium can be absorbed only in dosages of up to 500 mg at a time. So if you need 1000, split it up

  • I don't know if eating right always contributes to never getting sick. I'm pretty sure I don't eat right, I also hate taking vitamins and I am never sick. Maybe I'm just an anomaly?

  • @Lieutenantkaiya Plus you sound young. That helps.

  • If you live in the sunbelt get some of your D outside.

  • en español o con sudtitulos donde lo consigo

  • thank u Dr OZ...

  • WHY is there NO attention paid the the very important detail of FORM and delivery?

    Active vs Inactive, bio-availability, etc.

He says Vitamin D but he doesnt' specify D3 (natrual, vs D2 which is synthetic)

    Where's the magnesium?

Muti's suck. There is no way to get enough of everything you need into one multi. w/o compounding it too hard making it difficult to dissolve and absorb properly...

    Maddening.

  • You can only absorb 500mg of calcium at a time!

  • @WongeneKIM eat kale

  • @liagarden cabbage are good, thanks!

  • Thanks a lot for sharing...

  • if you eat a proper diet the food should contain everything you need, im vegan and i don't need supplements, i never get sick and doctors always complement how healthy i am

  • @darkangelprincess101 Vegans are extremely unhealthy people. Just wait til you're 60, you'll wish you ate differently.

  • @theUSER101 don't talk about things you don't know, a vegan diet is one of the healthiest things you can do. If not then why does dr oz suggest it

  • @aquaculture...yes, salmon has the most Omega 3s ... then sardines...then kippers..canned salmon is king because they ONLY use wild-caught salmon for canning, both red and pink. ♥ Dr. Oz...it's great to know which supp's he takes and WHY!

  • dr oz thanks bro!! :D

  • I take Twinlab Daily One every day
