  • Its not palatable humor...but its more memorable than any palatble stuff

  • I love how they dont understand comedy

  • Being from S. Florida, saw a lot of persons exactly like this growing up, and you feel sorry for them more than anything

  • When is this interview from?

  • some humor you want some humor i love it

  • Zmuda's Clifton is even worse than Andy's Clifton!

  • 2:13 LOL

  • So easy to tell which is Andy and which is Bob

  • How old is this news report?

  • Hee! I loved how he just started making up random words that rhymed with "mad". And the guy was all, "Turn the camera off", only he didn't.

  • They'd rather be throwing away their money on the tables than wasting their time watching a man make carrot juice...

    Classic...

  • Yes, he was.

But that's Bob Zmuda up on stage. Not Andy.

  • bwaaaahaaahaa!!! beautiful!

  • Well how does that make you feel?.......

well It makes me feel really really mad, it makes me feel really bad, it makes me feel really sad glad had mad dad fad zad

  • yeah that's the one that always gets me.

  • would sure not waste my money to pay to see this guy "perform."

  • I think you "may" have missed the point.

  • So... what might be the point I missed? I see a great deal of dofference between being funny and acting stupid.

  • research Andy Kaufman and see the type of comedian he was. It's not "in your face" comedy. It's a little more cerebral and requires a different sense of humor. However, once you get the "joke" you'll laugh your ass off.

  • I can definatley understand why he denies he's Andy: Because it's Bob Zumuda!

  • He reminds me of this other lounge singer I'm aquainted with, his name is Albert Grosser and he act's just like Tony Clifton.

  • "Burned out night club singer"????

'Worst nigh club singer you have ever heard"???????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Let me tell you something reporter. Something Tony would say to you: "If You make one more sound, I'm gonna come down there and put your head in the soup!": Take that!

  • 2:59 - 3:31 kills me every time hahah

"son of a bitch we'll catch big fish on the bayou"

  • LOL OMG that's so funny he starts making carrot juice! How awesome is that?

  • without a doubt this is Zmuda

  • Tony Clifton should make a world tour.

  • You are all wrong- If you verify the date of this performance. you will find that Mr. Zmuda was in London producing an event for Comic Relief.

  • Watch enough Tony Clifton and you'll be able to tell with NO problem which Clifton is which.

    This is Zmuda.

  • ty 4 the share -- :)i never seen him b4

  • Yup, the voice and body language are a dead giveaway. I would give my right arm to be a fly on the wall when Kaufman and Zmuda were both practicing Clifton.

  • 3 different people played Clifton. Andy Kaufman, his brother Michael or Bob Zmuda.

  • i dont think theres any point debating whether it was Andy or Bob (or whoever...) doing the interview, cause well literally never know

  • Does anyone know for certain whether the Tony Clifton in this interview was played by Andy Kaufman or Bob Zmuda ? It seems to me that it's Kaufman this time ...

  • This is DEFINETLY Bob Zmuda.

  • This might be bob zamuda

  • Could Tony really be Elvis? All that talent turned in on itself, twisted into tony? Tony is still alive!

  • I dont think Tony is Elvis but I DO think that Arion could be Andy!

Look into it. You MIGHT just be amazed.

  • I was only having a laugh but who's arion?

  • Supposedly a singer. Weirdness going on there for sure. Like you'll see still photos of someone that looks an awful lot like Andy Kaufman in Quasi-Elvis mode while you HEAR a guy singing that's SUPPOSED to be Arion but sounds to ME like the voice behind the "Mystery Man" recordings which are OBVIOUSLY intended to convince us that Elvis is the "Mystery Man" rather than an impersonator TRYING to sound like him. Watch "Solitaire By Arion From Memories Of The King".

  • Triumph the Insult Comic Dog from Conan O'Brien is hilarious and right up Tony's alley. Check him out to see for yourself. Maybe they could work together sometime?

  • Tony Clifton was hilarious

    we need more obnoxious people

like him to make fun of pop culture

  • At 1:58, Tony says "I have no money to pay!" it's just hilarious. Bob Zmudas contributions to the Tony character and his wit in general are massively under-appreciated. As a big Tony fan, I'd love to get a Clifton CD,or concert vid. I haven't come across either but if anyone else has,if you let me know, it'll be much appreciated.

  • the interviewer looks a little like Ronnie Howard

  • Comment removed

  • I really love the Andy concert special wherein Andy played Clifton, and Zmuda actually came on stage to be the standard audience member whom Clifton brutally insults. But to just to add to it, Andy inserted a shot of himself in the audience enjoying the show, so for a moment you're confused until you realize there was an edit around the shot.

  • Brilliance like that is the precise reason Andy is my favorite comedian ever, & though for some reason many take an either/or approach between him & Zmuda, I love them both. Zmuda is criminally under rated not only for his Tony Clifton contributions but to Andy's comedy in general. To me they were like Lennon & McCartney, both being original beyond measure & as creative as the day is long. Andy got the spotlight & some try to portray Zmuda as a hanger on. Zmuda is McCartney, the one still here.

  • hwo can act this bad?...

    A GENIUS!!!

  • This is definitely Zmuda. You can tell because when it's Andy you can recognize his voice.

  • It looks like Andy. His lips are a pretty close match. Who would be surprised if this WAS Andy and the Tony(s) he claimed was him was actually Bob. I didn't see any significant gap in his teeth either.

  • This is actually Bob Zamuda. You can always tell...Bob Zmuda has the gap inbetween his teeth...thats how u know its bob..and when u dont see the gap..it was koffman

  • What a genius!!!!!!!!

  • When he was singing that old Hank Williams song might be the funniest thing ive ever seen.

  • andy kaufman was the best !!!!

  • This is Bob Zmuda-no doubt about it.If you wanna see Kaufs version of Tony watch "Tony Clifton on the muppets" vid.Its clear which is which.

  • he made the cameraman laugh with that joke about turning it off then right back on...nice!

    andy kaulfman is amazing!

    he really loved sociology

  • Andy Kauffman or Bob Zmuda (Man in the Moon)? Andy used his friend Bob for TV performances to confuse the press.

  • The cunts up there making carrot juice!!

Man that has made my day.

  • its ashame he was so ahead of his time, ppl didnt get it. he was brillant. very funny.

"i don't have money to pay" lol

  • Still effing hilarious though. "Chickaroonies" LOL

  • As hilarious as the whole Clifton character was, it might've been more effective if he actually had a good act and was more believable as a real person. It was the same deal with the foreign man character. As soon as everyone knew it was a put-on, the joke didn't work anymore. It's only funny if the people think he's a real person.

  • Everyone knows now that it was a put-on. Yet it's still funny. It's much funnier to pretend to be horrible, especially when he was so talented and could really sing quite well.

  • this is so funny

  • if they only new what they were missing

  • some of the funniest shit ever!

  • "why would anyone try to be this bad"? cause hes andy kaufman

  • does anyone know what year this aired?

  • KAUFMAN LIVES ON!!!

  • This incarnation of Clifton is played by Zmuda. Although not as vicious, i still think Zmuda does a great job.

  • I want Tony's album

  • Andy Kaufman was a genius.

  • Still is..... ;-)

  • LOL but the thing that gets me is that tony clifton showed up at andy kafman's funaral.

  • One of Andys friends also played the Tony Clifton character

  • this guy is seriously 'twistedly?' funny!

  • Clifton lives.

  • A true ONE OF A KIND! Who would try that today? NOBODY!

  • holy crap the man was such a genius.

    wow.

  • I'm sure someone has pointed out this is Zamuda by now. I always like the voice of Kaufman's version better than Zamuda's though. I wish there were some full songs on here of Kaufman's.

  • Legend

  • they wouldent have wanted to make a movie of him if he wasent great ? i really felt like swearing but ....

  • ah ah ah wonderful :D

  • yeah man on the moon tony clifton talked funnier

  • the real tony clifton doesn't sound anything like the tony clifton in man on the moon

  • The magic of movies

  • The singing voice is similar, but I think the speaking voice was too normal for the movie so they exaggerated it for effect.

  • This is Bob Zmuda

  • tony clifton was never andy clifton

  • It was him his brother and his manager at times.

people would hire Tony as he was cheaper

    lay

    laughing

    at

you from the grave Andy Kaufman we miss you

  • i think you meant andy kaufman and you would be wrong just type "dinah shore and tony clifton" and its obvious its andy

  • i always wonder what Donald Trump was doing before he became a billionaire. It all makes sense now!

  • oh my god! lol!

  • Could have been his partner Bob Zmuda they liked to both play clifton

  • Christ - the IDIOT interviewer doesn't understand anything about comedy. Kaufman was making fun of "people" like that and they didn't even understand it.

  • No, you are the one who doesn't understand comedy. The interviewer was playing the "straight man" and knew exactly what was going on. You need to watch the clip again and pay more attention.

  • I think this is Zmuda.

  • It might be Andy's Brother Micheal. He also played Clifton. I am pretty sure the interviewer knew what was going on.

  • So far ahead of his time that many people still dont get it. Frickin amazing.

  • I've seen much worse on "American Idol". Clifton is yesterday's news.

  • This is fucking awesome. Just amazing footage.

  • legend

  • how dare you disrespect Andy's death

    if he died, he died,

    if he faked his death

its because people like YOU don't love and understand what he wanted to show his audience

  • Andy Kaufman faked his death, and he is still alive.

  • wow, never heard that before. you're some kind of visionary. you need to write a book.

  • Sheer talent . . . Sheer talent. There's alot of payoffs in this biz but Tony made it on sheer talent. Yes indeed!

  • The newsguy looks like Captain Hunnicut. o.O

  • i think he is another actor

not kaufman or zmuda or kaufman brother!!

    he is excellant at this

  • Zmuda was crap at doing Tony Clifton, he could not do the voice as well as Andy..when he speaks it's sooo obvious it's not Andy

  • i actually prefer zmuda's clifton

  • Zmuda! One of the most amazing stunts ever, one can only imagine what things Andy might have pulled off if he'd lived. Indeed, I'm sure he would have gotten around to faking his own death at some point and we would have all believed it. Too bad that isn't how it happened...

  • funnyer now more then ever.

  • zamuda

  • carrot juice, that is awesome.

  • Quite clearly Zmuda

  • i'm sold............... am now a fan

  • In this clip Its funny how the guy goe on and on questioning if this is Andy and its not. You can tell its Bob Zamuda

  • Genius

  • Cool, what year?

  • man on the moon great movie

  • Tony Clifton is a god. I just wish the footage from Dinah! survived...in today's world of spoiled, misbehaving celebrities, Clifton is more relevant than ever. I love how Clifton claims he's a close friend of Sinatra's, seeing as how he shares Sinatra's prima donna arrogance and tendency towards violence. As Don Rickles said one time when Sinatra came to see his show in Vegas: "Hey, Frank, make yourself at home...go ahead and hit somebody."

  • and another thing just so you will know, andy would sometimes have other guys becides Zamuda dress like Clifton and then andy could come out later in the act...just a little info

Andy started doing Tony Clifton but after a while he let his buddy dress up and do his act.

Also, Zmuda was Clifton sometimes. I have inside info ;)

  • ya, you saw man on the moon

  • and another thing just so you will know, andy would sometimes have other guys becides Zamuda dress like Clifton and then andy could come out later in the act...just a little info

  • Andy started doing Tony Clifton but after a while he let his buddy dress up and do his act.

  • I love it, this would be great to see in person.

  • Andy and Bob were insane, brilliantly insane, beautifully insane. God bless 'em. An inspiration to us all.

  • frig he was a legend...one of a kind.

  • does he still want my liver????

  • Kaufman is the King Crab in a sea of little fishies.

  • (members made)

  • innapropriate because of mockery - ONE WORLD ('s what we have been brought together 4)

  • andy kaufman flips bypolar gravity toes of Moscow winter birthed ]^;O˛

  • ok so what do we think? is this Bob Zmuda or andy kaufman, i no they both played him but who do we think it is playing him in this video?

  • it's Zmuda. That's not Kaufman's voice. The Muppets show skit is Kaufman, you can tell the difference, his face is longer and his voice is higher.

  • Was this clip taken from a legitimate television show, or was it something made by Kaufman and his people? If it was a real television clip, could you tell me what the show was? I don't think it was mentioned. Where did you get this piece?

  • I laughed so much, now I need a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts, a shot of Jack and two chickies.

  • Actually I'm Tony Clifton I played him for years before Kaufman bought the character for a few shows I play him now

  • andy kaufman only did clifton once, then it was always bob zmuda

  • No, he did it more than once. But it was most often Zmuda, who was Andy's writing partner.

  • jim carey was interviewed and he said kaufman only did clifton once.

  • He came to the Fitzroy Tavern in London March 2005 - I didn't realise then - but looking back now I can't believe I didn't ask him who he really was! What a c*nt I was!

    Andy K was/is still a legend!

  • That wasn't Bob Zmuda...

    'Twas me.

  • Great clip! It's obviously Zmuda...

  • Bob Zmuda was on Opie and Anthony today. The entire run at Harrah's Tony Clifton was played by Zmuda and Kaufman would come to the shows in a beard and glasses and heckle him." Thank you.

  • I think it's Elvis in disguise.

  • Does anyone notice the lack of chest hair in Clifton during the interview? Andy Kaufman has noticeable chest hair to the bottom of his neck and Clifton doesn't appear to..odd? Or just the magic of Andy Kaufman?

  • His nose looks exactly the same as Andys, mabye andy kaufman wore some sort of prosthetic nazal enhancer or mabye they are actually the same person? I think andy was part of a litter of andys. You never saw the same one on stage twice.

  • Good job, man! Thanks for posting this!

  • This clip is just fantastic! We have watched this clip every morning at work to start our day with a laugh. The scene at the beginning where TC marches out of the shot singing, "And I grew strong", is just priceless!! We need more clips!

  • Bob Zmuda was on Opie and Anthony today. The entire run at Harrah's Tony Clifton was played by Zmuda and Kaufman would come to the shows in a beard and glasses and heckle him.

  • I love that world famous rhymin'!!!

  • he reminds me of donald trump lol

  • lol hahahahhahahahahahah hahahahahaahahahahahah

  • this is amazing lol..thanks, guys you rock.

  • Freaking h

    tonyalmeida2009.

The word is WAS not is.

    Andy Kaufman WAS Tony Clifton.

And besides, i think the others where ironic, but I guess you don't know the meaning of that word, spending all day long infront of the computer.

    Hugs & kisses

  • Wow...your a dick! Hugs and Kisses!

  • are u guys dumb or what, tony clifton is andy kaufman

  • Andy was Tony sometimes. Other times it was Bob Zmuda or on occasion, Andy's brother.

  • thats the funniest stuff I have seen in quite a while

  • You were such an as asshole. I miss running into you late at night...

  • I hope Clifton soaked that asshole Kaufman for every penny. Who the hell did he think he was?

  • Absolute class

  • pecka

  • Weird stuff. Tony Clifton against Andy Kaufman ? AAHHHAHAHAH.

    Fuckin' genious.

  • That's the funniest I ever saw Zmuda. I mean Tony!

  • Tony Clifton is the patron saint of YouTube

  • No, but if there were any videos of Andy as Tony...

  • Tony Clifton's daughter is lonelygirll5?

  • That's the hardest I've laughed in awhile.

Mello Yello shot out my nose.

  • I used to hate Tony, but now I like him more than Andy.

  • Tony knows what he likes. He makes himself happy. That's all he needs to do. If he is happy, people will be happy for him. Why? His fans are the people who are happy that he's happy. They share in his joy being happy themselves. If they don't get Tony, they can't HAVE Tony. He doesn't need them. He's a bigger name than Kaufman ever was. That hack! You never saw a MEXICAN twist Tony's arm. Prinze just played one on TV. His kid is latino.

  • Awesome..I love it.Thanks alot for this...we need more Tony Clifton on here.

  • mad bad glad dad had mad lad add

  • Sounded like he was saying "shit talent" instead of "sheer talent". I wonder if this is one of the times where TC was played by Bob Zmuda instead of Andy Kaufman?

  • i am NOT mr. kaufman! and those zmuda duda buddha tuda is a fool! :)

  • it was.

  • The video of Tony Clifton with the Muppets is Andy Kaufman, in this video it is Bob Zmuda.

  • Tony Clifton will NEVER die... now go stick a needle in your eye !!!

    He will surveeeeeeeeeve!!
