  • This guy is great

  • Good stuff - seems to be a major John McLaughlin 'Extrapolation' influence going on here. Nothing wrong with that in my book....

  • i wish i was there to feel the ambiance these musicians were in.

  • nice ! ですね.

  • OH! It's "just" a 12 bar blues!!! lmao

  • Johns comping and chordal ideas are awesome.

  • amaziinng!!

  • just discovered Stowell today. What a great player!

  • @sireel Yeah me too - just now - one whole year after you - why didn't you tell me about him sooner? :-) Seriously great playing here though - fab, fab stuff!

  • john stowell is the best guitar player on the planet man !!!!

and are those emg's hes using ?

  • Gr8 tune and playing all around!

Wonder if there'd be a DVD available of this?

    Regards,

    R~

  • Everyone is great in this Quartet. Tight...swings....what a nice jazz treat

John has wonderful tone and style.....

  • I purchased "Scenes" immediately after hearing this band's recording of the track called 'Psalm' on KUAZ (from University of Arizona). I was stationed at Fort Huachuca, AZ in the Army Band down there at the time. Kudos to John for his fantastic guitar playing, but really the whole group has a great vibe and chemistry throughout the album. World Class!! I highly recommend purchasing "Scenes" for those who haven't had the pleasure of hearing it...

  • The whole affair has that sexy, sophisticated "ECM" vibe...

  • yea, origin is certainly going for an ecm type thing

  • I really like John's playing overall, but I wish his sound were just bit louder and clearer (I'm thinking a little toward a John Abercrombie -Mordy Ferber sound). But, I like his lines and timing and everything else, really! Maybe it's just this one recording.

  • Top tier west coast cats makin' it happen. Really nice video production as well. Kudos!

    Thanks for posting.

  • Amazing stuff, I really loved the interplay.. John is playing great as usual, I really liked the drummer too.

Has John done some articles for Guitarplayer? I think that is where I heard him.. Awesome!!

  • John plays with such great imagination and intensity! It's always a delight to hear him in any setting, but this group is especially nice. Great stuff!

  • John Stowell is brilliant! Really, he is one the smartest players in jazz guitar. I was fortunate to have several lessons from him back in 1997 & 1998. He gave me some good feedback on my playing. Although I don't play as much, I still dig jazz guitar and John Stowell.

  • John's music is great - check out the Scenes CDs, as well as his solo stuff - unbelievably gifted talent!

  • Hi,

Thanks for watching and for your kind words. Trust that you're doing well.

    Regards,

    John Stowell

  • Awesome job.. This is great music. John Stowell is great on this, and i was fortunate enough to get the chance to study with him at Berklee. anyone know of a CD with these recordings?

  • Hi,

Don't know if we met personally at Berklee, but thanks for your kind words. There are two recordings with this band on Origin Records ("Scenes" and "Scenes-Along the Way"; the latter is trio). Hope our paths cross again.

    Regards,

    John Stowell

  • One of the coolest clips available for we serious music listeners on YouTube

  • I like it! Yeaah!

  • Love it... what a treat!!!

  • Hi,

Thanks for watching and for your kind words.

    Regards,

    John Stowell
