this is a simple green screen trick, very fun and cool to do. the actual technology is far more complex and does not produce as neat results. the current tech is still only at a parcial blur effect for anything large enough to see. still, the military will have a lot of fun in 2030

@ellorco991 technically, invisibility is basically manipulating the light as it reflects on ur eyes. with reflective-refractive material, you can bend the image of urself that's suppose to reflect from the observer's eyes after light hit it, and go through you.

You are talking about ideal active camouflage whereas this is a relatively simpler design. They are just using one camera to capture the background behind him and then projecting that image back onto him. Only that special material reflects it back, which is what we see. The ball doesn't have a camera to the back of it and isn't displaying that image to the front. That's too complex.

When you are proning or you are close to the wall than you are almost invisible for a long distances with this... and imagine a tank with that camuflage... it would be almoust invisible for satelite or air scaning...

You need a projector constantly projecting the background onto the clothing, if you stepped to the side you'd see a guy, in a funny outfit, stood there. The 4 S of camouflage is Shape, Shine, Shadow and Silhouette. So if something casts a shadow, or has to be used with a silver jacket, like this does, then it's fucking useless.

I was thinking ahead... about a technologi based on this useing microprojectors really close to the actual "invisible" object. BTW last time I checked EVERITHING on this planet was casting a shadow, I understand that shadow is a tactical weeknes of any camouflage, but I think that its also the smallest of these problems. Which leeds to inavidable conclusion that your argument about shadows is invalid.

The technology you're talking about is something that was penned by Phillip K. Dick in the novel A Scanner Darkly. It is typically what we know as "Active Camouflage". Personally I don't believe the tech will ever be used in future combat situations, mainly due to the fact it would be so delicate.
