  • This is quite possibly my favorite Glass piece, and pretty much every time I've heard a string quartet perform it, my reaction has been... "Meh, I don't like their interpretation as much as the Kronos version."

This is the first time I've NOT had that reaction!

    I'm floored.

  • really fantastic performance. better then the kronos version i'd say

  • so awesome especialy the converse

  • The interpretation makes ALL the difference. If the conductor doesn't know and feel 'the pocket", as we Americans say, of the composition and arrangement, particularly the tempo, it ruins the entire piece. Quartesto is so deep in the pocket with Glass' works, it's like they're inside his head or have been coached by him personally. Simply SUPERB!!

  • Beautiful.

  • sublime

  • This is sooo great. I love Philip Glass music, sometimes even more than the classics I shamefully admit.

  • thank you for the post. this is gorgeous.

  • Amazing!

  • Thanks a lot for all the positive feedback! :) We really appreciate that you took your time to listen to us.

We plan to upload Philip Glass' Quartet No. 3 "Mishima" at the end of the month. Stay tuned!

  • @quartesto i saw the jack quartet preform this live, you guys are just as amazing. this is a great piece

  • O, bliss! O, heaven! This gorgeousness and gorgeocity made flesh!

  • Very nice. I'm just finishing up my quartet for Aspen and found this while taking a quick break. It is clear how deeply engrained this work is in each of you. I can tell you play it often as you have programmed it into your bodies. Very effective performance indeed.

  • Great! I love this movement, esp. when it comes together at 3:10

  • Very very nice. Personaly, the only thing i didnt like was the pause at 1:35. I understand the reason why you had to do it, but even so, its a stain in an otherwise brilliant work. What i've done when paying this amizingly beautiful piece is to use an extra music stand, just for this movement. Its a bit tricky but it keeps us from doing that pause. Anyway, thank you very much for this perfomance, please keep posting!.

  • I find nothing wrong with the pause ...

The movements after benefit enough from the pause that I doubt the composer isn't aware.

  • even had this been the only thing Glass wrote, his life would have been worth living

  • Really good!! I love Glass' music, and you play it very well!

  • You guys did it again. Amazing! Bravo! You all were together, and the echo sound was perfect! Philip Glass String Quartet No. 5 is one of my favorite's.
