I'm not surprised that out of all the different incarnations the avengers went through Patrick Macnee looks back at the Steed/Gale era with most fondness.
@saveme7eebu5 Patrick even stated on an 1989 interview with Charles Gibson that when Diana Rigg left, it was in his opinion the end of the series. Apparently Linda didn't enthrall him.
ahhh, the turning on of the tape recorder/dictation machine and no reels retating.....i so lve this show...used to watch in my youth about 40 years ago...miss this stuff
Great stuff ! What I really like ( with all the Avenger shows and The Man from U.N.C.L.E. ) was how they use to have subtle erotic scenes of women; such as the early scene with the pretty dark haired junior secretary, sitting on her desk and then how the camera tracks / follows her into the room, showing her nice just over the knee skirt, legs, and her figure overall. Excellent ! Thanks for putting it on. Regards.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, PhilippaRM for posting this. What a delight the early Avengers episodes were, with their complex plots, and sharply etched characterizations.
Despite the deficiencies of budget and production, I find them superior in many ways to the Peel/King eras.
Cathy Gale is a much meatier character than Emma or Tara, for one thing.
@dobgood I have to agree. I grew up watching Diana Rigg, and I thought those shows were brilliant. I never saw Honor Blackman's time in Avengers before youtube and this is only the second episode I've ever seen. Despite the glossy production of later series, these were definitely superior, the writing was so much better.
is that James Fox speaking in the board meeting?

It's funny how the girl pushes play on the tape recorder and the reels are not even turning but you still hear the sound.
