A series of unfortunate events is amazing. Im reading it probably for the fifth time four years later (at the age of 16). Only after rereading it several times can you catch most of the references and foreshadowing he packs into his novels. And the dark humor is awesome. For example, in the first book he references and island with forbidden fruit (the island from the last book). Love him.
i met him five years ago, when i was in 5th grade! he's great :) haha he told me to keep my doors and windows locked if i asked him any more questions than i already had..
I read & loved the Series of Unfortunate Events as a kid, and always thought Lemony Snicket/Daniel Handler would be depressing/shadowy/mysterious in real life. But...he's so charming and friendly! Like the person you want to be around at a boring party. Wow, what a fun interview to watch.
Oh right, cool. I didn't know that. I'm surprised he showed himself after always like remaining a mistery person :P I really like A Series Of Unfortunate Events, their reall good books! Must read if you havn't...
@JOANNA19893 "the uncle of little Beatrice," What? I thought he was in love with Beatrice. That's why all the dedications in the books are to her. I actually thought Beatrice was Violet, Klaus and Sunny Baudelaire's mother...
@Godofthemagi Exactly. The tradition in the Baudelaire family is to name a newborn child after someone who has died. The Baudelaire orphans named Kit Snicket's child after their dead mother.
i love a series of unfortunate events there great books and he is a great author .... i am doing a presentation on him and the book basic eight look good

Daniel Handler's great. I went to a book signing by him, and he is AWESOME. He would talk to each person when you went up to get his book signed. He laughed and wrote that I'm a "Future Orphan" in his book.
I have read the series once, except the end (currently reading) and now i am trying to read them over again. I own books 1 and 2 (Bad Begginging and Reptile Room) I Love that series!
lol i read all of the books- finishing THE END a week after its release- im reading the last 3 over again so i tought i should find more about lemony snicket aka daniel handler.
Lemony Snicket was a name he used when he ordered pizzas instead of using his real name... I read that somwhere. Is it true he is going to write more lem snicket stuff and a new movie coming out? If so im psyched!

AHAHA! I know! I honestly dont read that much, but I read the last few books real quick! I finished The End yesterday in 6 hours, but as someone else said the end didn't satisfy me :( at all.
yes i read the series in sixth grade and recently finished the whole series again and thinking about starting again haha. something about the story is so intriging and its even hard for adults to grasp it entirely so i was suprised these books are classified as childrens books.
i read ASOUE when i was younger and now that i'm older i've started reading the actual mr. handler novels and everytime i read one it's just like an old friend is telling me this story...hahaha,that sounds so lame but it's true!
They are great, but they are very patronising to people that are not children. e explains alot of easy, basic words whichn makes the reader feel like a baby. They are good for people younger h
I think he uses the "patronising" tone in an almost ironic way. He always says "...which here means" uses it to sum things up in a very exaggerated way. His whole style of writing in the books is very exaggerated, which reflects the style of the world that he has created. It allows you to enter the mindset of this world with characters would seem ridiculous in the every day world.

hey .. does anyone know what the VFD really is and who is beatrice.. is this stuff all made up or is it real and he wants us to believe its made up? i am so intrigued by this guy, he has a great imagination if its all fiction

Daniel Handler and Lemony Snicket are the same person. Lemony Snicket is the pen name Daniel Handler chose to use for the books he writes. All of his books go under the name "Lemony Snicket". So Lemony Snicket IS Daniel Handler.
he shops at the grocery store I work at,he is so down to earth and even funnier in real life. He's always in a great mood and is the nicest famous person i coulda hoped to me.
It was really cool meeting Daniel Handler. He came downtown in a bookstore for a book signing. He said that he and Lemony Snicket were two different people. He explained that Snicket was not there because he got his armpit bitten by a beatle. He proceeded to give out Lemon crackers and snickers. Really nice guy. Very imaginative. Got his autograph and everything. I still wonder why he chose Lemony Snicket as his pen name.
I met him just yesterday (we went to the same high school) and he said the name came up as he was calling a Christian/right-wing company for a fake video. The caller asked for a name and he came up with it then and there.
Daniel/Lemony is a real inspiration to me. He turned me to more depressing story plots, such as the story about the girl whose dead sister comes back for revenge, and now I've just finished my very first novel for a competition. I would love to meet the man who expanded...my writing abilties (I suppose.) Seriously, you have no idea how lucky you are.
and i also love the idea that after reading the beatrice letters, the entire series, and the lemoney snicket bio thingy ... i still can't figure out all the secrets ..
a little wrong at the end.ishmael found the box,and then gave the ring to the baudelaires, and the baudelaries gave the ring to kit when she was having birth, and kit gave the ring to the baudelaires back, and told them to give it to their child.
its hem.well lemony snicket isnt exactly real, his a fictional character (daniel made hem up) but this is the real lemony snicket. have a Very Fine Day.
lemony isnt real.hes a fictional character.daniel made hem up and started to write books that involved baudelaires and snickets, and none of them are actualy real.i wish they were though,it would be amazing.
he has gained some weight. in the first lemoney snicket book in the back there is a shadowed pic of him with his hand on his chin ,and he looked pretty skinny
i'm also going to take a guess that maybe, just maybe he named 'The Duthess of Winnipeg' off of his editor from Winnipeg. AndI seriously don't think they should make any more movies. I think that this is the kind of story that is to be written and stay written. There are far too many mysteries to be solved. But i mean, if they do make a movie, it'll still be good.
And now I'm getting all really stupid and taking this whole book things o incredibly seriously that it's driving me crazy. But how can you NOT take it seriously? Wow.
This is the most mysterious man in the history of mysterious mysteriousness men.
The Beatrice Letters...The Series of Unfortunate Events...somehow the mystery is solved yet unresolved. It's so incredibly strange yet so uncredibly genius. I need to meet this man. But you know, I mean, Lemony Snicket was just his 'character' and not really him. I mean, maybe he's into everything that he writes or maybe it's all a huge joke to him but I really doubt that it is. So now I'll shut up.

lemony isnt real.hes a fictional character.daniel made hem up and started to write books that involved baudelaires and snickets, and none of them are actualy real.i wish they were though,it would be amazing.

i'm also going to take a guess that maybe, just maybe he named 'The Duthess of Winnipeg' off of his editor from Winnipeg.

Wow.
Okay. NOW I'm shutting up.
