  • Flip these rails face down, and mount them underneath the table. This will protect the rails from excess debris. Attach the trucks to the Y axis saddle.

  • @foam27 Great info....Thanks!

  • I got inspired by this guy:

Today I've build a milling attachement on my lathe so that I can surface the stock for my own mill.

If the link doesn't work the guys name is simpsons36. Cool project!

  • WOW! Nice score on on the rails and trucks. This looks to be a VERY exciting project. How are you going to mount the Z axis and keep it in alignment? I have wanted to do something like this but have shied away because of alignment jitters.

  • Thanks for doing this. I am in the process of gathering parts to do a build. Probably not as heavy as this one but close enough for what I want to do with it. I look forward to watching these series.

    Thanks again,

  • Nice, I've just in the initial state of building such a mill myself. I have just purchased two new SSR30 blocks from Ebay which should be plenty strong and ridgit for the lower Y-axis (one block on each rail). I have to order a 600mm long rail from China and cut it in half, because I have not been able to find anything on Ebay. Looking forward to follow your project. Eventually I will also show my project on Youtube.

  • Always enjoy your videos. Solid information and great to see products in videos instead of pictures.
