  • Very revealing interview. It's obvious that MajGen. Kalugin has a knack for being a people person which is a prime assett for a spy.

  • Soviet collapse was a farce. Google search "long-range Soviet deception strategy".

  • @EnigmaticWolf1 did you hear Yuri Bezmenov? In 1985 he goes down the list of exactly what are problems are today....

  • he looks like zbignev bzezhinsky

  • he sounds british ??

  • @MrNomad81 He was trained to speak that way so he could infiltrate different countries

  • Wow ... Arabic , German , English. Language diversification and proficiency at his best.

  • This guy is no Russian - he's a Brit! Listen to that accent. Another subversive Brit banker!

  • You, americans, have fear of KGB, and you believe that all people from this organisation are dirty m*f*kers, liers, killers, children eaters and so on. But somehow, you blindly and deeply believe this one.

  • @retiber1 All of the government agencies are working together. CIA Mossad KGB MI:6 they're all the same.

  • This interview gives superb insight into the real reasons behind the collapse of the Soviet union, there are lessons here for the perceptive.

  • Millions of Americans have recently been stunned to discover the extent and seriousness of the KGB subversion attack on American society. As a child of the 70's we were "taught" about the 1950's "red scare" in U.S. as if it was all a paranoid (McCarthy) witch hunt that posed very little actual threat. They were very effective indeed. If you want to see your jaw drop to the floor watch Yuri Bezemenov's 7 pt. talk posted by "HISTROIKA". An eye opening reality.

  • Thank you Oleg.

I, being Russian, am proud that there are people who believe in truth even in the ranks of KGB

  • The Socialist Republics could assure themselves a 90% victory possibility back in 1970s and 80s against any enemy, including both the US and the NATO countries.

  • communism, works on paper.

  • comunism is used by the elites as was nacism used to spread comunism. they control public views by killing of millions every hundered years or so. form dark ages and plauges to today and american bombing campains and coca-cola chrismas shoping spreas. there are no sides they control all. US "democracy" and worlds "comunism". nice

  • Oh come on, this guy was recruited to be a double agent at Columbia. He was working for us as early in the 50's.

The current spy game with Africa is at this moment Chinese agents are fanning all across Africa and are making 50/50% deals with anyone and everyone in power in Africa.

  • Communism = Greatest Evil ever known to Man

  • Don't let 20 million deaths diminish your pride in being a good KGB agent under Stalin. Good to see you continued your work of population control and communism under the UN.

  • The part about integrating with the Western society makes me suspicious.

  • that is all there is to do in a socialist country is serve the gov./common cause they are going to call it.

  • What Mr. Kalugin admits to is amazing. It just goes to show how naive so many American liberals were about the nature and extent of the Soviet. They really were trying to take over the world for Communism!

  • yes the cold war was VERY real indeed

  • This is a devastating interview. Mr. Kalugin reveals, in effect, just how stupid and naive American liberals who ridiculed the Soviet threat were. Back in 1980 all my educated liberal friends and teachers laughed at the notion that the Soviets were trying to take over countries around the world and that there were Soviet spies inside the US. And here Mr Kalugin ADMITS all those things matter-of-factly! Wow. Every naive liberal should be made to listen to this interview.

  • But if he was a spy he wouldn't say he is apart of the KGB. When he said it I'm sure he was held under investigation by the FBI or something.

  • I thought James Bond 007 Timothy Dalton killed all KGB's or should I say all Brittish agents killed all the KGBs.. lol.. sorry I had to throw that in here .!!!

  • I read his biography, Spymaster. Its an amazing book and really shows the mentality of why he left communism.

  • only to find himself right back into it as this owo takes hold.

  • Wow, I can understand why Soviet agents succeeded in infiltrating the US: this old guy speaks excellent English (hardly any Russian accent, well just little bit).

  • Good observation! Particularly for secret agents living under false identities, the KGB and its successors trains agents in perfect English (or other languages) and they memorize the details of their assumed identity.

  • @TCCTV - He could have come here as a part of the FSB...and still gone on TV with the Conservative Roundtable - b/c FSB ain't leftists - he could've still been a foreign agent just not Soviet Commie.

    Just an idea.

  • @TCCTV This observation was also recorded by John Barron when he penned "KGB" in the early 1970s. There is a chapter in that book called "The Spy Who Changed His Mind". This spy was Kaarlo Tuomi. This book described a specialized school in Moscow where future spies who were to arrive into the U.S. had to have their accent shaved as much as possible and learn colloquialisms because "the language is ever changing". Your comment reminded me of that one chapter. Thank you for posting this video.

  • @TCCTV

It also helps that Professor Kalugin read Western Literature and listened to the BBC in his early years.

  • @TCCTV do you have any contact details of oleg gordievsky? i am in london and i would like to take an interview with him. thank you

  • that and the fact that the cia is so damned corrupt lol. People are so easily bribed and blackmailed.

  • @ubcphysicsyangbo the KGB also bought all sorts of traitors in different countries. US technocrats, swedish journalists, japanese union leaders..the world was full of prostitutes

taht for pay would betray their country.

  • There is no democracy and justice for people, only corruption, vodka, thousands homeless. Russia it country of 3rd world - unfortunately for russians whose stay live in there.

  • While I agree about the mishandling of communism and the lack of democracy. One could argue that Russia progressed far more under its communist history than it would have otherwise...albeit at a terrible cost.

  • Umm, "progress" can't be separated from the tens of millions killed under Communism. Would Germans say they "progressed" under Hitler? Or that any material gains under Hitler would have been worth the genocide, war and daily repression? I think not.

"Progress" at the price of dictatorship and genocide is far worse than no "progress" at all. Better to live in poverty as free people than rot in a Gulag or even live well but scared of being shot.

The terrible cost is what matters in the end.

  • one could argue that but they would only prove they are a useful idiot.

  • Oleg Kalugin is a former KGB agent general born in Leningrad, on September 6, 1934...just a little info u guys might like :)

  • yuri brezmenov's description in his video is described shockingly to perfection when compared to the state of thu.s.a. right now you have a democratic president who is loved like hitler was by his people the womne cry when they see him they idolize him , they have demoralized the country starting with the clinton administration , destablised the country is totally destablised so on and so forth watch his video .

  • I couldn´t agree with you more and absolutely yes, Yuri Brezmenov´s videos describe the situation with an incredible presicion

  • KGB=FSB

  • :O my last name is kalugin ! and my grandad is russian ! wonder if were related -.-

  • Mr Oleg Kalugin is the most human person I know. He went against countless dangers to try to induce democracy into Russia. I read hi´s book and it is the most interesting book I´ve read. He is a true personality kid. He enlighted me on the Soviet paranoia for sudden attacks. It was baked into the system and in many unofficial lectures given to members of the "nomenklatura"-almost as if a near state of war. And this is why they are against the american missile system-suspicion is high..

  • The hard left and Communists have achieved a major goal in electing Obama. Most Obama voters can only parrot what they have been brainwashed from the "Media Matrix". Hard left views programmed into them by schools, colleges, "news", movies, music and pop culture.

Disagree with an Obama voter and you are met with insults, profanity and them wishing you and your family dead, etc. This is how deep the brainwashing is, their responses are mostly Pavlovian, and rarely based on any knowledge.

  • @bobd007 scary stuff

  • How do you know the Soviet collapse wasn't a big charade? How do you know these two guys aren't going to be sticking a gun in your face when Obama gets elected?

  • Blah, Obama voted for FISA and cosponsored the Global Poverty Act, he wants to give 865 billion dollars to the UN.

  • now we have a thinker here, who said the Kommies disappeared?

  • Very good interview...Also you should watch the video series about Yuri Bezmenov who was also a Soviet defector. Incredible interview done in 9 parts...The series is available here on youtube. I highly recommend them if you're interested in KGB counter-intel and the strategies being used against the U.S. by Marxist Leninists...Very informative.

  • Is it true the kgb are making a gun that is made of magnetized sniper gun silencer;;;;and magnetic bullets for less vibration...

  • The KGB doesn't exist anymore, it hasn't done so for 20 years..

  • Damn. Vladimir Putin will be very upset when he finds out.

  • Na he will be so happy America is becoming commie with all the nationalisation going on and that Obama dude redistributing wealth.

  • He came to IU yesterday. Interesting presentation.

  • great interview, Kalugin was serious, serious power.

  • Hi anyone know how to be in touch with Oleg Kalugin I know 2 guys who were his friends I even have a picture of them together ...one of these friends stayed in my home. Dima his name.I want to follow the story.

  • Oleg Kalugin is a legend.

  • I enjoyed his participation in the video game "Spycraft"...fascinating game that took up about 300 hours of my time in college

  • no that was other oleg...that was gordievsky

  • That is correct. Great documentary on the History Channel about them both
