  • Dosy scots twat.

  • Proverbs 10.17 A kind man benefits himself, but a cruel man brings trouble on himself.

  • @waketheoblivious

More claims based on zero evidence? because I do not believe stuff i read in fiction novels and wear a tinfoil hat, the only "logical" concluson is I'm a tutu wearing Nazi? Of course, It's hilarious that you fail to acknowledge your own illogic.

  • @waketheoblivious

*sigh* your worse than a religious zealot

  • My god, is his voice just annoying or what? The guy asking the question I mean -.- How can you be so deluded and yet think you are so right at the same time just like him? Ohh yeah, Religion -.-

  • Jesus Christ who is the rock? Wait Dwayne Johnson is The Rock!

  • @ColaPac

Thats it. This year at Wrestlemania The Rock vs Jesus in a "Who is The Real Rock" match.

  • Mr. Dawkins was not 'cruel' at all. But, you no that. Why would you say that? Because Dawkins did not agree? You got people to watch and wait, and for us to respond to your stupid title. That is deception, you must be a fuc-in "believer", I assume. Ilusions are what keep you afloat.

  • @waketheoblivious

PLEASE, STOP READING DAN BROWN BOOKS

  • @1R0QU012

Nice public display of your absolute ignorance.

  • I dare say you are a doushe, Mr Dawkins.

  • @Rockandrolls1 What makes Dawkins a douche? He was there to give his lecture about his opinions and this old man took it upon himself to be confrontational and ask a ridiculous question when he knew what Dawkins answer would be. Dawkins was completely polite and apathetic.

  • how old is that guy if he had met the jesus christ?

  • I love this... please people wake up.

  • I am confused. I honestly didn't see anything wrong with that answer. I didn't find it rude I actually thought that was a smart way to calmly put it...is it more or did anyone else see this?

  • @GhostOfRockyHorror I agree with you, I do not think there is anything more. Probably just the person who titled the video is mistakenly sympathetic to the guy.

  • @GhostOfRockyHorror You're right... It was the kindest way to be entirely honest. It wasn't cruel, it wasn't mean-spirited, nor was it an insult. This man gets it.

  • Sometimes honesty can be harsh, when it comes for religious people to accept reality, that is never going to be easy.

  • @WeAreSektor

    [apologies for the misspelling]

[in addition to this message, see below]

Christians by definition are believers in the New Testament. While parts of the Old Testament are disfunct some points remain valid. Analogous to Newtonian Mechanics and General Relativity.

  • @WeAreSextor

From a simple google search of the verse, it is evidently hard to translate original context from Hebrew to English. FYI the Old Testament is the "realm" of Judaism so you might take your question to fluent hebrew speaking people.

  • Religion and false belief, are in our opinions, the single most devastating placebo effects the world has ever known. For Christians ask the Atheists questions, we will ask you all one that you may not have ever heard: Genesis 6:4 - "There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the Sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown". Explain that verse if you know your bible so well

  • You've just been Richard Dawkins son!

  • Must be a scary feeling to know your whole life's been a delusion. Religion man, I don't fucks with it.

  • I dont get why this was cruel

  • As an atheist, I understand that some people need God(s). If it takes God(s) to keep someone from committing suicide or some criminal act, then I'd be careful with the process of helping some free his/her mind. Some people are simply not ready to let go. The very notion that God(s) is a dillusion is traumatic and frightening to some people. It's hard to anticipate what becomes of such a person.

  • LOL Dawkins shat on him!

  • Sorry, but if you don't like the answer you shouldn't have asked the question. What sort of response did he expect?

  • i walk with Todd every thursday, at 3.15pm - we go to the park - it's a good time.

  • He was NOT being cruel

  • Such a gentleman .

  • I don't get why you titled the video the way you did... I thought he was just being a little bit blunt, but there's nothing wrong with that.

  • @neoman121 Richard Dawkins has a reputation of being very rude and blunt with his statments and as a result any comment he makes is going to seem like it's leaning towards rudeness, much like no matter what Sarah Palin says it's probably going to sound kinda stupid because of the bias of the listener.

  • @KaijinDV

"no matter what Sarah Palin says it's probably going to sound kinda stupid because of the bias of the listener. "

    No she is genuine stupid.

  • @gorilla199uncensored true.

but even if she said "we hold these truths to be self evident that all men are created equal" its still going to sound pretty dumb

  • If people who believe in an intelligent creator are hallucinating, then they're doing it 24/7. And if they are hallucinating night and day, they should be institutionalized or given meds to make the hallucinations stop. I know of no drug that can do this in regard to spiritual beliefs to begin with, but if one existed would you want the government to force people to take it? Or are you going to say their delusions/hallucinations are of no threat to anyone but themselves?

  • @fingleur1 So exactly what hallucinatory experience was Dawkins referring to in his reply to the Christian in the video? The Christian didn't mention having any of those particular "false perceptions". I think Dawkins was referring to the man's overall belief that he "walks with Jesus". What else could it have been?

  • @fingleur1 Then I guess I'll tell Jesus everything's okay. What a relief. LOL

  • @fingleur1 Oh yeah, and I think the Christian man did mean he'd "met" Jesus for real, although maybe not Jesus manifested visually or in flesh form.

  • HUMAN MIND IS EXTREMELY SUSCEPTIBLE TO HALLUCINATION - so true.

we never challenge the concept of god which we are taught as kids, we readily accept it and grow up with that in mind n now if i tell u that the god in which u believe in is not real but that of some other religion is real, u will mock him and his stories. it is all about perception.

  • @fingleur1

Additionally, you're telling me nothing new. I address the fact that General Relativity is a theory and that is becoming obsolete. Read for comprehension please. I don't need someone telling me what I have stated previously.

[ I'm not trying to insult you, just pointing out the fact that your recent post is irrelevent]

  • @fingleur1

I pose the same question to you

    [see below]

  • @skrappyb

    For purposes of comprehension,

Do you actually have an understanding of the higher concepts of mathematics and physical sciences, or did you read a "Brief History of Time[etc etc...]" and generate an opinion?

[ my intent hear is to find out what you actually know, not to insult you]

  • @skrappyb

General relativity is just a theory, not emprical proof. A theory that fits scientific observation which is t he only reason we continue to use it. I might add that there is mounting concern for its... "continued relevence". Additionally, General relativity as it is cannot explain the universe, nor can either of the other pillars of modern science. Do well to remember those facts.

Carl Sagan once said, "absense of proof is not proof of absense."

  • "Then you must be from New York."

  • How was that remotely rude?

  • so a christian can tell an evolutionist that he is just hallucinating, and thats supposed to be a acceptable answer?

  • @0fficerFarVa Well, evolutions, unlike creationists, have hordes of evidence (proof that can be proved, felt, touched etc). So if a christian tells an evolution that he is hallucinating (like some do), they're considered moronic.

  • @0fficerFarVa The evolutionist can show you the indisputable physical evidence that leads to his conclusions. The faithful cannot.

  • Awesome!

  • The Rock says... The rock says...

  • But hang on...just because you don't share a person's beliefs, where do you get off being so rude as to say they are hallucinating??

  • @AnthonyP73

A religion by definition is a superstition. A religion is the belief in a supernatural being or beings. A superstition is the belief in supernatural magic or phenomena beyond or outside of nature. A religious belief is a superstitious belief. A common symptom of religion is delusion, sometimes with hallucinations. But face it, you are not coming back. Well, no one has yet, with any convincing evidence, and an awful lot of people have died. Bracing truth is better than false hope

  • @skrappyb

So belief in Higher Dimensions of reality that may never be manipulated or observed is "better" than belief in the proverbial magical unicorn?

  • @1R0QU012

No. I don't believe in higher dimensions. Multiple dimensions have some evidence on paper when it comes to quantum mechanics, but since they can't be empirically verified there is not a scientific consensus on the matter. General relativity does, but not quantum mechanics. But there is more evidence growing everyday.

No, belief in anything magical or imaginary is irrational.

  • He's a plant. He's a troll! Splitter !!! (oops just been watching Monty Python videos...)

  • "Jesus Christ is The Rock?"...no....Dwayne Johnson is The Rock...

  • @AceBobcat No.. Alcatraz is The Rock

  • @AceBobcat I think Jesus said it first.

  • Dawkins is a Professor that made a public statement that is a complete and total lie. Absolutely no Medical or Scientific data or studies support his statement "the human mind is extremely susceptible to hallucination". A statement such as that by an illiterate ignoramus could be understood considering the source. From someone holding the title of Professor, his lie is a complete disgrace to the institution who awarded him that degree.

  • @waketheoblivious The human mind IS succeptible to hallucinations wakey - or do you think that the Hindu's who claim to have seen Ganesh really did see an elephant headed godess?

  • Comment removed

  • So people who believe in a spiritual realm are insane. If that's true then most of the people on the planet are insane Woo, scary.

  • @kenleycloud You must have posted that to me by mistake - you appear to be responding to a comment that I have never made.

  • @parsivalshorse o i c

  • @waketheoblivious The human mind is not extremely susceptible to hallucination? Now THAT'S a lie!

  • @beaster29 <------------- Fucking ignoramus. If his life depended on it, he could not find a single credible scientific or medical journal that supports the statement "the human mind is extremely susceptible to hallucination".

Dawkins got caught in a bold faced lie and is an absolute disgrace to the institution that awarded him that degree.

beaster29, decided to pop on a red nose, some big floppy shoes and entertain us all as a pathetic clown, that chooses to publicly display his ignorance.

  • @waketheoblivious LOL! I didn't think I'd get entertained so quickly. Say something else funny! :D

  • @waketheoblivious Post operative Psychosis? Magic mushrooms? Dreaming?

There are too many examples of human minds being susceptible to hallucination to quote. The only reason you could of not found any is because you haven't looked.

  • @neverfearchrisishere

Oh no Mr. convenience the quote is "the human mind is extremely susceptible to hallucination" and that is absolute bullshit unsupported by any Medical or Scientific study that supports such a ridiculous claim. You are the 5th lying fraud who has attempted to truncate the quote and offer a ridiculous justification for his bold faced bullshit. Even those who induce hallucination are are a small fraction of the population, the majority are by no means extremely susceptible.

  • @waketheoblivious ... Well given that any healthy human mind can hallucinate, how much greater a rate of susceptibility do you expect?

10% of the populace will experience a hallucinogenic episode during their lifetimes according the society for Psychical Research.

Every healthy human mind can be induced to hallucinate chemically.

How much more susceptible do you want?

If your going to call Bullshit on people about a topic, atleast learn to read up on the subject first.

  • @neverfearchrisishere

Look you ignoramus. Support the statement "the human mind is extremely susceptible to hallucination" with any credible scientific journal or study. This ain't difficult. I could give a flying fuck how you care to rationalize and justify your insanity. I don't give a fuck if your buddy took acid, your brothers in rehab or any other remote example of miscellaneous horseshit. Science, provide concrete objective facts that support the damn statement. Fuck your opinion.

  • @waketheoblivious ...There is enough papers written on the subject to fill a library - you are just being intellectually lazy.

  • @neverfearchrisishere

Is there now, then reference one of those papers you imbecile. As is, you are completely full of shit.

  • @neverfearchrisishere Nope, it’s not working. “can” hallucinate....? “during their lifetime”...? Chemically induced huh? Ya don’t say. I would like to see the article. PSYCHICAL Research??? Rate of suscpeptibility?........................... Ugh. Do you have a hall pass? .

  • @kenleycloud /sigh PSYCHICAL is the former title of Psychology.. Which if you had enough learning on this subject to be overruling people on this topic, YOU WOULD KNOW. Rate of susceptibility hasn't been studied for psilocybin - the agent in magic mushroom that causes halucinations - because susceptibility is 100 percent in healthy subjects. There have been numerous studies on this chemical - which you have been too lazy and busy insulting to look for,

  • @waketheoblivious You have the numbers mixed up, the vast majority of the population is is EXTREMELY susceptible to hallucination. You only have to walk home though a poorly lit street for the mind to start doubting and second guessing.

Professor Benny Shanon from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem has an interesting theory on Moses - that he was high on a hallucinogen found in the Acacia tree during his "encounters" in sinai.

  • @waketheoblivious wow, you're completely ignoring the fact that the human brain's job is to derive meaning from events. We've seen repeatedly within the scientific community and the population at large that hallucinations are in fact rampant. The presence of hallucinations are due to the brain's ability to make the same thing mean more than one thing (known as symbolic reasoning). Pigs can't read text or realize I'm being literally ambiguous when I tell you "You are a pussy"

  • @waketheoblivious Do you know how many quack doctors there are? How many fake medical treatments there are? Yeah, this, my dear, is exactly the same hallucinatory thinking that religious people use.

The difference is the psychological reward. When you take the quack doctor's advice and it doesn't work, you respond by not asking for his advice again.

Christianity, in particular, is incredibly rewarding. I know: I was Christian. It's also a big fat lie.

  • @waketheoblivious Old Wives Tales; irrational fears (phobias); etc.

How do you operate in a world filled with hallucinations? You cling on to what is proven to work. Religion appears to work for some people, but the problem is that on a large scale (globally) religion doesn't work. It causes groups to hate and kill each other, to proclaim themselves more correct than the next, etc.

  • @amdphreak

Your opinion is a collection of TV sitcom bullshit. Hard to imagine someone so brain dead still has a pulse. Seriously, you ever actually read anything and formed your own opinion or do you wait to figure out what all the brain dead consider popular opinion then automatically agree, like a well trained sheeple. I got news for you, the Truth is available in abundance, but you can't resist the urge to pop on your red nose and floppy shoes, long enough to realize you are on the menu.

  • @waketheoblivious You're a complete moron. Which of your parents mistakenly let you get a youtube account?

Actually, no my "opinion" is not opinion. It is fact. What you wrote here is an opinion.

I read more than you, and I know more than you. I can prove it too. It's just a waste of my time to bother with the likes of you. You're so biased it would do no good to sit you down in front of a good 100+ psychological journals, sociology concepts, etc.

  • @amdphreak

Turn over a US Dollar Bill. See that "all seeing eye" as the capstone on the Pyramid? That is the all seeing eye of Horus/Lucifer and at the base of that Pyramid are Latin words that translate to a New World Order. The Illuminati are so heavily documented a 5th grader writing their first research paper could easily write a factual report. Illuminati have a name for the mind-controlled brain dead, sheeple. Laugh it up funny boy cause your ass is on their menu with mint jelly.

  • @waketheoblivious I want to thank you on behalf of all of the atheists and Christians who argue against creationism on these threads. You Bill are one of our greatest friends and assets. So I just wanted to express my appreciation - I can't imagine how anybody could do a better job of depicting creationists as insane, intollerant dribbling nutjobs as you do.

  • @parsivalshorse

Ataboy, your learning. Who said can't teach an old Buzzard new tricks. This Satanic Nazi Shill will squawk on command and lick a latrine when ordered to. Now squawk my spineless Satanic Nazi pet Buzzard. I wanna parade your silly ass all over you tube and then we can stop at a latrine so you can pay tribute. Meanwhile, squawk my buzzard bitch and like it. that's an order hit the keys Nazi

  • @parsivalshorse S Q U A W K you lazy bitch, that's an order you pathetic Nazi Shill..............

  • Exactly the same way I tell people about religion. If you say you've seen God, spoke with God, played Scrabble with God, whatever, fine. I'm in no position to say "No you didn't." But if you've never done any of those things, and your only reason to believe is because your parents told you so or your church told you so, then I ask you to think, does this make sense.

  • Thomaseshuis there is a book Eternity in Their Hearts by Don Richardson-Regal Books 1981 that talks about this monotheism. The Karen in Burma til 1825 had this religion&the Gheddio in south central Ethiopia until 1948, Ancient China has this til 1000 B.C the book explains more also Arthur Custance has a book on this first religion, this monotheism of the God of the Bible, this other aspect of religion of the Bible older than either Judaism/Christianity Authur Custance books are on-line check it.

  • That is exactly how we freethinkers have to start treating the delusional, brainwashed fools. Religion deserves no respect and we have to stop giving it any serious consideration.

  • Here's the way I see it: most religions are the same, they just have a few "fill in the blank" spots. The names "Zeus" "Allah" and "Jesus" are insignificant. The belief in a superior being is the fundamental part, and Dawkins fails to address that. In the end it will all be preference. However, one thing is certain: A world entirely Theistic would fail. A world entirely Atheistic would fail.

  • if he bets his life on jesus being real, he claims that everyone on the planet who would do the same for THEIR supernatural friends is lying. how's that ?

  • A man's 'assurance' is NOT evidence! I think he was deluded to think that a scientist would have any OTHER answer.

  • There is another aspect of religion of the Bible than Judaism/Christianity&excisted in various cultures into the 19th&20th century. First in the Bible in Genesis from Adam to Abraham&really to Moses. Job in the book of Job lived centuries before Abraham but had the same God as Abraham. Cornelius in the book of Acts was neither Jew or Christian but neither was a pagan, heathen,or infidel but was called "devout". This devout monotheism was the origional religion of all peoples at one tme early hist

  • @RonSafreed "There is another aspect of religion .... This devout monotheism was the origional religion of all peoples at one tme early hist"

Except you have no evidence that most of these people ever existed, much less your god and his religion.

  • Europeans&Orientals have 2 things in common,a high degree of atheism&a very low birthrate below replacement population levels. In the course of this 21st century both groups will shrink drastically especially the whites so the number of atheist will also go as people die off. The blacks&muslims are exploding, they dont't have much atheism&it looks like there is not going to be any mass conversions soon. Why most atheist have few or no kids? Good atheist should have kids&have future family linage.

  • Man has 3 parts-body/soul/spirit. The Bible says man is in a fallen state. Aging/disease/death works in a man's body. Man's soul is lost&man is spiritually dead Man's soul is like am frequence, the spirit fm frequency. The only way that the spirit can be revived is to be "born"again" by coming into a relation with God through Jesus Christ. All true Christians have this spirit in them made alive, however now it is just turned on low like turning on an fm radio but the volume is down-low FYI.

  • @RonSafreed The bible also says that unicorns are real, and fruit-bearing plants existed before stars. The bible is just plain wrong.

  • In 1949 when Mao&the communist came to power in China, there were only 1 million Christians there. Mao was gung-ho on wiping out all religion in China After 63 years of an iron-fisted policy towards religion now there are 130 million Christians in China. Growing at a rate of 30000 a day. Mao wiped out much illiteracy but as literacy increased, the growth of Christianity went up too.We need some atheist missionaries to go&re-convert those Christian Chinese back to atheism 64% of China is atheist.

  • In the former USSR1917-92 atheism/evolution was taught daycare-university The Bible was illegal&it was illegal to teach it to kids Within months of the fall of the USSRin 92 the Bible was put back in Russian schools Olga Lutsenko an atheist was the main one behind it Death threats made her to go to Canada in 96&she is a Christian now BTW she is on youtube&I support her work financially putting Bibles in Russian&Ukranian schools The Bible was absent 75 years in Russian schools now back 20 years

  • @RonSafreed: Screw that! I would support teaching the bible if it was done in an honest way. For example: "Here's a book. The things in it are not backed-up by any reputable archeology, science, or even grade 3 math. It has some sex and violence in it, and will tell you to cut off parts of your penis. Don't do anything it says, if you want to stay out of jail."

  • John Wycliffe1330-1385 who translated the Bible from Latin to middle English in 1382 felt that the Bible needed to be in the tongue&hands of the masses In 1442 his remains were dug up&a trial was held condemming him His bones were burned to powder&dumped in a river I read his lifestory&have the book Evil men in high places for 1000 years put the Bible under lock&key. Many clergy&all laity had no access to the Bible What Wycliffe was doing with the Bible was illegal then but he was never caught.

  • The Bible has only been accessible to the common man less than 500 years William Tyndale1498-1542 was the first to mass produce Bibles for the masses in 1525 using the printing press They cost a man's week wage He smuggled them to England from Belguim He was a wanted man betrayed&caught, tried&executed in Brussels He spoke 9 languages I read his lifestory&have the book It took 10 months to handwrite a Bible Evil men in high places put the Bible under lock&key 1000 years Clergy&laity had no access

  • The Human Mind Is Susceptible to Hallucination. Well said R.D.

  • Dawkins is a boss.

  • Odin! Odin!

  • Richard Dawkins makes a good point in as kind a way as I think it can be made. What would you say to an Adult who genuinely believes in Santa? That they're cute? Or that when their parents die they might find the number of gifts they receive on Christmas Day dries up a bit?

  • The man asking the question states that he has MET the risen christ?

So, I guess that means that jesus is still alive and walking around the earth?

Of course not, THIS is why the man is delusional.

Although I've met the miraculous Santa, I see him at the mall every year, so in reality, Santa is more real than jesus, the bloody rag doll hanging on a stick is where the myth belongs.

Jesus is NOT walking the earth, and does NOT live inside believers.

    Delusional, brain damaged people!

  • Modern people .. stupid !

What do people think .. marriage is about love ?

NO its not ! Its about trying to be straight, its about having more babies, its about putting the penis into the vagina because thats what God wants any man to do to any woman !

    Love , what love ?

STupid people, God do not care whether there is love among men .. STUpid people.

  • Deuteronomy 22:28 to 22:29

"If a man happens to meet a virgin woman who is not engaged to be married

And he seizes her and rapes her

but is caught in the act

The rapist must pay the girl's father fifty silver shekels

She must marry the rapist, because he has violated her. And so long as he lives, he may not divorce her"

    Praise the lord?

  • @hardcoretam Be careful. You might have anti-semites or Christians coming in saying that those laws only applied to people of the Jewish faith, thereby making them "okay" to have been written in the Bible to begin with. :)

Yes, there are actually people like that.

  • @Michael326 Oh i'm very familier with people with faith choosing only to use / beleive parts of religious books that suit them. I'm an Atheist myself and i started to read the Bible until i got to The Law. I've put it aside and started to read all the other ancient books as best as they can be translated to English, starting with the full texts of Genesis. It's a long quest, but hopefully it'll help me out with debates.

  • Blunt, not cruel.

  • Richard's response was amazingly polite, I didn't find it in any way cruel.

  • @mypalsatan He wasn't being cruel. Just condescending.

  • @lambovsatan225 Given the level of retardedness of the questioner Dawkins was as polite as humanly possible. A lesser man might have simply answered:

"You are a deluded fool, go away and let the grown ups talk."

  • @mypalsatan it was highly polite and i dare say neutral and reasonable response to someone that obviously seems unstable

  • Not cruel in any way at all really...

  • As a lifelong Christian and now Deist at best, I have given up on Christianity. The clear problem that I see after living it for 40 years, is that Christians want to push their belief 'in Christ' while what Jesus really told them to do was preach 'the good news' which was not Christ at all but was that Religion was wrong and that everyone should act in love and acceptance toward each other.

After attending 1000s of church services, I can say I've never seen anything happen that was not of man.

  • He is not being cruel just pompous as usual trying to use the straw man argument of putting Christianity on par with ancient mythology. And also using bad science that faith is based on delusion and hallucinations complete twaddle. He also has tried to put ID supported by scientists on par with creationism he has his on religion to defend atheism or secular humanism it might not have a deity but is has a creed and is on a crusade to dominate the west.

  • @lv4ev5 sorry that was own religion.
