@TripleRp Yeah, that's why 3 sucked so badly on one level. How the hell could Mike Barnes be so obviously better than Daniel, when Barnes had been training since he was only 13 and Chozen had been training virtually since the womb? 3 just wasn't believable. On top of which, the plot made no damn sense at all.
@BigJimUK The plot was simple, Terry Silver was bored and he wanted to help his friend Kreese get back on his feet, and get revenge on Daniel and Miyagi. Mr. Silver could've helped Kreese without abusing Daniel and Mr. Miyagi but he wanted to make them feel pain on Kreese's behalf. Barnes was very Bad Ass and probably would've won the Tournament anyway. Watching Daniel get punked and his ass handed to him throughout the entirety of Part 3 was hilarious. Daniel was at his best in Part 2
@TripleRp Silver did not help Kreese because he was "bored". He did it because him and Kresse fought in Vietnam together and Kreese had "lost count" of the number of times he saved Terry's life. Terry abused Daniel and tormented Miyagi because he, like Kreese, is a sociopath.
chozen his real name is yujji okumoto i met him at his restaurant in seattle on saturday 8/6/11 "the kona kitchen" i cant say enough nice things about him a real super great guy just an exellent person if your ever in seattle pay him a visit the food was great as well meeting him topped of my vacation!!!!
Check out Chozen's right arm at 3:42. He makes Daniel look like a baby! No way Chozen wouldn't've killed Daniel by now with how many punches he's laid on his skinny ass! And come on, that double round house kick would've finished him off for sure. In real life Chozen would've finished Daniel off easily.
@123nickelplated Alright, I`m tired of people who think power is the deciding factor! Take it from an acual 2nd degree decided! Power and Strength mean absolutely NOTHING when it comes to acual Karate, what matters, is WHERE you hit, HOW you hit. Strength has a small bit to do with it but nothing more than a bit!
@BalisticBlader actually power is the deciding factor, especially when one person is a karate master, and the other person has a gun that can blow the other's brains out before he even gets within striking distance
@ronin6401 Not exactly. It plays a big part. True. But it is not the deciding factor. It depends how swift and how defensive the attacking target is. It also depends on your fight style.
@BalisticBlader Chuck Norris would disagree with you. He's given demonstrations in Texas courtrooms, where a guy with blanks loaded would draw down on him from a distance of ten yards. They did the demo three times and each time Norris closed the gap and disarmed the firearm before the guy could aim and fire.
It has to be a fake fight scene, no actor would willingly act in a movie to get beaten up bad.
The counter of the crane kick is so funny! Daniel-san's move got countered bad! He wasn't just countered, his ankle was twisted as well... Why is that guy just beating up a kid? His voice is so squeaky.
@Hijinx1982 Lawrence was in the first enemy, which means he is the weakest out of all of Daniel's enemies in the three movies he was in. Johnny would not stand a chance against the guy in the yellow who Daniel faces here.
@acdc30450 What I was trying to say is you know how Chozen (guy in yellow) blocked Daniel's Crane Kick with ease. Johnny could of done the same thing (Block Daniel's Crane Kick) and would of won the tournament.
@Hijinx1982 I know what you are saying, I am just thinking a few inches beneath the surface. Chozen is a more skilled fighter than Lawrence, hence he is in the sequel, so he knows more stuff than lawrence. The first karate kid would have been a major let down if what you are saying happened.
Also the crane kick and the move to counter it are authentic to Okinawan Karate, Lawrence learned Karate from Krease, a GI who learned it as a part of Green Beret training, but American modified
@acdc30450 I know Daniel had to win because he's the star, that's why I said it's a movie. But it would of been funny if Johnny blocked Daniel's crane kick as shown in this video.
@acdc30450 The "crane kick - no can defence" is nothing! As a TKD practitioner myself, I know for a fact that it's nothing more than a jumping front snap kick (with some weird hand movements added), for which there are PLENTY of defences.
@BigJimUK uve only see the crane kick work once!! look up lyoto courtire from ufc!!..lol he actually broke courtires nose with it,knocked a tooth out and knocked him out!!..lol just type in lyoto crane kick..lol
I know Chozen said that the reason why he wanted to start this death match with Daniel because he was disgraced and dishonored because of Daniel as he mentioned from 0:36-0:40 but, what did Daniel do wrong to him? The only things I can remember is that he got angry that he lost the bet with Daniel and he wanted the money that Daniel won, and he was angry that his uncle Sato started liking Daniel more than him. So I wonder if this death match was out of jealousy that Chozen had.
@afriendofbean Daniel saved that little girl when the hurricane hit their shitty little village and Chozen's uncle told him to help Daniel, but instead he cowered in the corner all scared of the hurricane. So Chozen's uncle thought what a stupid little bitch he was for not helping Daniel.I mean come on,Daniel is one pink shirt away from wimpy fag city.So if Daniel can risk his life to save that girl then Chozen should have been right in there to help.
@vancedev Yes, I remember Sato telling Chozen to help Daniel and he said "I can't help him" either because he was scared or because he hated Daniel. Then I remember when Daniel and the girl got injured, Sato helped to teach Chozen how rude he was. Then when Daniel, Sato, and the girl got back into the shelter, Sato said to Chozen "now to you I'm dead" (probably meaning he doesn't care for Chozen anymore). After that Chozen looked at Daniel like he was saying "I will kill you" then ran away.
@vancedev The other thing I remember was before Chozen ran out of the shelter, there was a guy with a mustache and long hair who was standing next to Chozen looking at him like he was saying "shame on you for not being very nice and helpful." (In my opinion, probably if there was no hurricane, or if Daniel didn't go to save that girl, or if Sato never said to Chozen "now to you I am dead", there probably wouldn't of been a death match at the end of the movie).
@afriendofbean Also Daniel (unintentionally) exposed his fake weights scam at the market, which seriously humiliated Chozen in public. But you are right, that's the point of the film. Chozen is a seriously maladjusted fuckwit.
@BigJimUK Yes, I guess Chozen got very embarrassed that Daniel broke those six pieces of ice since he was making a scene in front of a lot of people. It's very strange that ever since the moment Daniel and Chozen met, Chozen hated Daniel.
This movie is another masterpiece in this wonderful franchise. Ralph Macchio and Pat Morita were brilliant as always. Tamlyn Tomita and Danny Kamekona were great too but I still missed Macchio's screen mother, she was very impressive in original movie. Anyway, The Karate Kid 2 was great sequel. They put more philosophy in it plus we can find out more about Miyagi's origin. I miss the 80's
If Chozen wanted to fight and kill Daniel, I wonder why he just didn't use his knife he was holding Kumiko hostage where I'm sure he would have killed Daniel a lot easier and faster since Chozen is a black belt karate teacher who probably knows all the defense techniques with knives. I guess maybe Chozen chose not to kill Daniel with his knife and he just wanted to have fun punching and kicking Daniel watching him experience pain and suffering (just like Terry Silver said on the third film).
@WizzkidJana That's true. I guess Chozen wanted to show to all the people, especially Mr. Miyagi that he has faster fighting moves than Daniel. Probably Chozen is either not familiar with the drum technique fight or, he is too weak to fight which is why he lost the fight and Daniel knocked him down on the ground at the end. (Maybe Chozen should go back to being a beginner belt since his fighting moves looked slow and it looks like him and Daniel were taking turns when fighting).
@WizzkidJana Yes, since Chozen lost the fight, I'm sure his Uncle Sato would never have him as a karate teacher again as his assistant knowing that he is not a good fighter, especially since Sato told him that he hates him.
At 2:17, why was Chozen smiling at Daniel? I was surprised why Chozen was smiling at Daniel since both Daniel and Chozen were fighting for life in a death match so since it was a death match, I thought Chozen should be looking angry at Daniel, not smiling. On the other hand, when Daniel was fight Johnny on the first film and Mike Barnes on the third film, they were looking angry instead of smiling since Daniel's fight with Johnny and Mike Barnes were fights for points, not for life.
Once the movie ended, I have always wondered how Daniel and Kumiko got back to the other side since Chozen made Daniel drop the bridge into the river. On the third film once Daniel and Mr. Miyagi were first seen, it only showed them leaving the airport but, it could have at least shown how Daniel and Kumiko got back to the other side in the beginning of the third film (maybe someone putting a board of wood for them to walk across) and seeing them boarding the airplane to go back home.
How can a toy that can be won at an amusement park by playing a few games of Skee-Ball be the "secret" to ONE person's karate, let alone for the entire Miyagi lineage?
@tomada36 May be true - but the cool thing about the scene is that Miyagi and Sato taught Daniel and Chozen the same art. But Miyagi taught Daniel the "good" side and Sato taught Chozen the "bad" side. In the end, they both pulled out their drums and only Daniel understood what they were trying to do. Everything has a rythym, including karate. Daniel could "hear" the beat of the art - Chozen couldn't, so he got beat, lol
@MishterBoBo101 not really im still laughing lol that shit was just funny even the characters are laughing lol yeah i didnt find it funny when she had the knife to her neck but this is just hilarious
This is the only KK film where Daniel-san literally kicked his enemy's ass into pumpkin pie. If only he did the same to Mike Barnes and Cobra Kai in KK3!
@dragarion1 You obviously have no taste in movies if you think taking an idea that has already been used and remaking it takes any brains or creativity. The original Karate Kid is a classic that inspired millions of fans around the world. The remake was a joke and an insult to the kick ass 80s version.
@brnleague99 The latest Karate Kid is just a different version of the same story. Take for example The story of cinderella can still be called 'cinderella' even if the theme was set in Africa, or had a modern day twist to it. We all know the lastest version has kung fu, but it still tells the story of 'The Karate Kid'.
"I got tired of seeing crappy versions of this uploaded.. so I decided to relieve" - @XAngel228 thank you so much for uploading this.. i swear when Kumiko got hit i was PISSED!!! lol
I wish the crowd would go come on in chinese or whatever istead of going oo ah!

it would have been nice to see barnes and chozen fight

the fight was so good in this film and in the third film it was worst then the second first one. You couldn't even call it a fight.....

Surfer041 1 year ago
@Surfer041 Not to mention in the remake...Jackie teaches the kid KUNG FU. Not Karate.
brnleague99 10 months ago
@brnleague99 The latest Karate Kid is just a different version of the same story. Take for example The story of cinderella can still be called 'cinderella' even if the theme was set in Africa, or had a modern day twist to it. We all know the lastest version has kung fu, but it still tells the story of 'The Karate Kid'.

It looked terrible, and it seemed like they muted some audio because you can read the scene: He said the B word when he hit her. 0.0
