This was one screwed up movie. And that's not a good thing. I usually like horror movies, but this one just crossed the line. If you're a Christian, I would recommend that you don't watch this one. I won't give anything away, but it was just a bit much for me.

Fenton was actually a "demon" all along, which is why he couldn't- or wouldn't- see the other "demons'" sins. Basically the main character played by Matthew McConaughey was the adult Adam (who was never "crazy") pretending to be Fenton... but Adam had already killed Fenton. If this confuses you, DON'T watch "Donnie Darko" (great movie, but not for everybody!)

I first heard about this film about 2 years ago at a truck stop where they were selling some dvds inside at the shop. the dad was not a murderer he was a messenger and visionary of God who killed the unjust, the wicked and the evil and the dad died because he failed to follow God's orders of killing his son, and by the power of God he was able to signal out the evil living among Earth by a single touch and how he was never caught.

Secondly, you're correct. The audience does watch the majority of the film through Fenton's eyes, however, he was a demon because the truth was blocked from him for a reason, and not necessarily because he killed his dad.
this is a movie that has really touched me, it is my favorite film of all trime and somehow reminds me of my childhood, feeeling unloved, confused and lonely.
What I don't understand is why so many people speak of this movie as being a horror movie. I just saw it ( again, seen it 1st in 2002 ), it is definitely a thriller. A good one too.
This movie was brilliant, I'd really like to see a sequel showing Adam's life as the sheriff of that little bum-fuck town while he's still "destroying the demons" LOL but a sequel would be str8 but they gotta have the original grown up Adam in it.

i watch horror movies every week at least 3-4 films.i must say that this stands out from the rest!!!! loved the acting and the story gripped me from start till end.
Amazing fucking movie. I just bought it at a bookstore and It just blew me the hell away!! The acting is top notch and the direction is solid. I love this movie. Its one of the best Lionsgate Films ever and I dont like LionsGate.
This is the most underrated horror masterpiece I've ever seen. Bill Paxton did incredible in this. I also have to give big props to the kid, Matt O'Leary. Amazing movie!

wow. first things first. this trailer kind of makes the movie look shitty, but trust me. I first heard about this film about 2 years ago at a truck stop where they were selling some dvds inside at the shop. I watched this movie about a month of even knowing of this movie and I was very impressed. Very good movie. I would call myself to be a movie buff and this is one of my favorite movies. I would also like to add if you liked this movie, you would probably also really like "Devil" .

I feel sorry for the people and its so frigin cruel but there's been people tortured way worse. Its mostly movies with (no offence to anyone) mentally ill and crazy and skitzofranic people that creep me out, like Shutter Island.

Kotlettbengt, No, the movie would be a piece of crap if the demon's crimes were unsure or a mystery. Remember! When he placed his hands on them, he COULD see the atrocities they commited like murder, and child rape/murder.
That's why the film revealed to the audience at the end that these demons were NOT what they appeared to be by showing us what they did.

@KingofPepsi I still whink it's stupid that Fenton was a demon, he hadn't done any crime and he didn't even know that he was a demon (if he even was). He thought his dad was an insane murderer so he killed him, and you say yourself that it is ok to murder to show that murdering is wrong. That's what Fenton thought, so he killed his father so that he couldn't commit more murders. God is a stupid asshole who didn't show Fenton anything to prove that the victims were actually demons.

- Wrong, I said no such thing. Putting someone to death for murdering someone is not murder, it's punishment.
Secondly, you're correct. The audience does watch the majority of the film through Fenton's eyes, however, he was a demon because the truth was blocked from him for a reason, and not necessarily because he killed his dad.
Third, calling God names is not very wise.

What I don't understand is why so many people speak of this movie as being a horror movie. I just saw it ( again, seen it 1st in 2002 ), it is definitely a thriller. A good one too.

This movie was brilliant, I'd really like to see a sequel showing Adam's life as the sheriff of that little bum-fuck town while he's still "destroying the demons" LOL but a sequel would be str8 but they gotta have the original grown up Adam in it.

@AlbiEmoStatic Well, I don't really know if it was actually proven that they were demons. All we saw was pictures of crimes commited by those he touched, it's not certain if they actually happened. At least that's how I interpreted it.

AlbiEmoStatic, I don't understand how you and Kotlettbengt think God of the Bible is "too brutal", yet, it's okay for the characters who got what they deserved to get away with what they did.
That's like if Joe kidnapped, raped, and murdered a child, you are okay with it. But, when Joe gets the death penalty for his actions, you become outraged!! That doesn't make sense.

Example: A 2 year old boy was stabbed to death by some evil moron with a pair of scissors over 30 times in the town next to ours. You want mercy for the child's killer? I don't think so, I say stab him to death over 30 times with an ice pick. Now THAT would be "a justice society".

- No, it would not make society the same as the killer, it would be society applying due punishment. There is a huge difference between murdering someone and punishing someone.
MURDER- Man breaks into home and stabs child over 30 times with scissors.
PUNISHMENT- Killer is executed for stabbing child to death with scissors.
They are not the same.

Amazing fucking movie. I just bought it at a bookstore and It just blew me the hell away!! The acting is top notch and the direction is solid. I love this movie. Its one of the best Lionsgate Films ever and I dont like LionsGate.

This is the most underrated horror masterpiece I've ever seen. Bill Paxton did incredible in this. I also have to give big props to the kid, Matt O'Leary. Amazing movie!
