I was a senior in high school and pretty much had all my credits to graduate and so my last semester I basically lived in the band room had two of these classes lunch and band 12 weeks... The Perfect Drug was actually written by Trent Reznor, and done entirely by a drum machine. To date it has NEVER been played live, well, because the band has never had a drummer capable.

Freese spoke about the many ways they tried to play this live, and it just didn't work out. They tried a slow (original) take, a fast heavy take, and everything in between, and it just couldn't sound right. He also said performing the song was no problem itself, just the ending was.
