  • im seeing wicked again in bufflo May 11 best muscali ever

  • I don't like this Glinda...

  • I love the baritone solo from 3:21- 3:37

  • Only thing is that Don't put English and American people together :P Because they pronounce the words different :) But idina i love her, but i just saw Wicked in london yesterday and it was AMAZING! i don't care who is playing who, it was just amazing!

  • Gosh.... Helen is well a good singer and actress and all but Wicked? REALLY? ( Wicked is my fav musical but I cant see her in this)

  • helen is obnoxious. i cant stand her.

  • I hate to say this but I agree :[

  • hahah totally, maybe shes better as someone.... not glinda. lol, her high pitched voice made me turn the volume down. i'm sorry but its just too much. i never really liked her. what i hate the most is her screaming in the scenes shes in. it gives me a headache. and i dont think glinda would really sound like that

  • maybe Elphaba.. Just kidding lol I CANT see her in either role. :] Wickeds just not the right show for her. I hate having to say that.

  • hahaha i kno what ya mean.

  • nobody plays galinda better than kristen chenoweth!!! she was the the best!!

  • I love wicked so much

    <3

and i love how random Elphaba looks here, and i love how it works!

    =D lol

  • the only part that i didnt like was that you could tell that the actors were british. when kerry was elphie there was only a few parts that you could tell that she was british. in this you can tell that even is british except idina

  • Comment removed

  • wonderful

  • Ooh!! They were so energetic in this performance. WONDERFUL!! :)

  • kerry goes better with dianne :) and idina and kristen :D

  • totally agree...idina and kristin voices meshed better than kerry and idina...but still amazin of course!

  • i second that. i haven't seen kerry and Dianne, but i have seen idina and kristen.

  • Kerry and Dianne id say are the best english ones but i havent seen helen dallimore. I think diannes hilarious though :)

  • Loooove the staging/choreography of this song. The silhouette of the ensemble at the end when it just elphaba and galinda singing is one of the most beautiful parts of the show!!!

  • The Glinda i watched yesterday was AMAAAZING. And the Elphabar

  • it's elphaba

  • Nobody but YOU!

  • I think Kerry goes better with Helen and Idina goes better with Kristen. Just my opinion.

  • i want helen to come back!

  • what r they things that look like humpty dumpty?

  • They are things based on drawings from the original book of the Wizard of Oz.

  • They're called flatheads.

  • hehe u have sky, i used too but now i have virgin media :D

  • i love this song and i think the british are better at singing it, and im not just saying that because im british(scottish) lol

  • Indina Menzel is American, not english

    haha

  • it's idina menzel.

  • I think she was talking about the ensemble lol

    Wicked rocks!!!

  • I'm British myself... But I just can't adjust to hearing these songs without American accents. The choruses sound very odd.

  • I absolutely agree with you. I'm a singer, and it's just bizarre singing them in an english accent! x

  • GOOO IDINA MENZEL!

You are the most amazing woman in the world!!!

  • I love all the songs off wicked;;* but this ones really good. But I think I like the american version

  • i love this song its so wicked ovenry therteretrain rocks

  • Those glasses certainly suit Idina! I think that Kristin and Idina clicked coz they were the first Elphaba and Glinda! The originals! I still love Helen Dallimore! She's extremely talented, and I think she sounds good with Idina.

  • i think Kristin and Idina click better with the roles of best friends, but i think Helen's voice sounds better with Idinas. I think Kristins voice is a little...hmmm I guess "breathy" is the best word i can think of. I think Helen can hold the notes better

  • Helen has a good voice but fit for Glinda? Not really... She doesn't seem extremely fit to play Glinda. She doesn't seem to have the perkiness and cherriness and all that fun stuff the character should have. She can give those....somewhat... But, many people fail at Glinda. The best were Kristen and the person who came right after her I think (Forgot her name =P)

  • Jennifer Laura Thompson was her name. :]

  • Idk they just dont click like idina and kristin do!

  • British Galinda doesn't sound right....

  • This is pretty good. Idina Menzel sounds kinda of weird though because she doesnt have a British accent lol. But its so cool!

  • Or in the uk at least not before january beacause you can only look a year ahead

  • ITS NOT CLOSING IN AMERICA HA HA

  • can i jus ask who glinda is it doesn't look lyk kristen or Megan, is it the stand in

  • It's Helen

  • this is the original london cast...Idina and Helen Dallimore.

  • I LOVE THIS SONG!!!!!!

  • I don't think I like this chorus much, for some reason. Their cutoffs aren't always on cue and there's issues with blending randomly. Maybe it was just the mics.

  • im from england too but i actually really like glinda with a british accent. i think it just suits the character well.

  • I done Wicked for a School Show and one thing I can say the two girls who played elphaba and Glinda certanly lived up to the parts. They were absoluly amazin.

  • this is a good video

  • im doing one short day for my chorus, sounds like a beautiful song- verryy good musical

  • Enyaangel - what do you think of Enya's 'Amarantine' album?

  • saw this yesterday in london with my school it was wicked lol

  • I love Idina

  • I know! doesn't she just sound amazing?

  • Yup!

  • u guys should see the real broadway show of Wicked its FANTASTIC!!!!!!!

  • I LOVE this song!!!!

  • y r the collegues always spell binding? and i agree tht its weird with glinda having a british accent.

  • nah i like the american version best with kristin chenowith and i am from the uk. a british accent on glinda? nah just doesnt go!

  • This is amazing. Thanks for posting. Helen is....okay....but Kristin will always remain the best Glinda in my mind. And, of course, Idina IS Elphaba! She really puts herself into the role....she's the best Elphaba ever. And is it just me, or does the song sound like it was slowed down a LOT?

  • woohoo this play rocks

  • Idina and Helen Whatshername just don't fit well together.

  • That pair just doesn't work well...the two are total opposites. You can tell in the beginning when Idina starts singing the Quoxwood Trees line that she just wants to sing the song like she always does, and then Helen doesn't sing she gasps and it just ruins it.

  • ur out of ur mind!

  • LOVELY

  • Waah! No more Dalli :(

  • I have to so no offense to teh ones that like the london people i love the song and the musical, but my favorite Elphie and Glinda are Kristin and Idina(in the vid)but i also have to say this girl with Glinda is pretty good as well.

  • oh closing toobad! its a great musical! number one in the musical box office in america.

maybe because the wizard of oz had a greater impact in the america's than in london -- might have something to do with it.

  • They are? Where is this happening?

  • i heard a rumour that wicked may be closing in london as they are not selling enough tickets

  • it better not be- it's amazing. I love defying gravity its immense!

  • yes its closing down in london as ticket sales are poor. its not a rumour! The show in London closes during 2008.

  • are you joking?! Tickets are sold out for most of the shows of wiked so it wont close down.

  • PLEASE sign the petition at petitiononline dot com/elphaba!! help us get idina and the rest of the obc to be in the movie.. WICKED IS NOT THE SAME W/OUT THEM!!!

  • They haven't even announced a movie project yet, have they? Either way...If Idina and Kristen don't want to do it then you can't force them. I would love to see them and Federer, Butz and everyone else in it should they make it.

  • Kristin wants to... but the poll is about speeding up the project of the movie.

  • what is the Royal Variety Performance?

  • Its when a series of acts perform in the Royal Albert Hall infront of the queen

  • The beginning of this is all wrong! Sob. It's not right, not right at all! And yes, I can too have a breakdown over it.

  • says who?

  • wtf are those round things

    i love the costumes btw

i saw the actual thing in LA last weekendd

  • i saw it last week too. in LA.

    wasn't it amazing?

  • i hate helen's "to make my life and make my way" its so annoying!!!

  • Why are these citizens of Oz drunk?

  • i went to see wicked in apollo theatre it was AMAZING!!! da best musical!!!

  • I went to see this last week! All the actors, actresses and the songs were amazing! i would definatly recomend it! The whold show was 'WICKED'!

  • whose the guy who introduced it??

  • adam Garcia

  • play it back. he stated "I play a prince". that means he's Fiyero. lol

  • i love helen dallimore have knoclked her down.. but i love her and think she is great for the role

  • the british accent only sounds a bit ick because helen dallimore is australian not british and shes putting it on. i still love it.

  • you just need to dye their outfits black and white and you'll have the costumes from Phantom of the Opera [Masquerade]

    jk.

    I love Idina Menzel! <3

  • me to!!!

  • i am seeing this in 2 days!

  • galinda sounded awful

  • now, i have a british accent. buuuuuuuut i have to say i like wicked music better with american accents. i dunno why...galinda sounded goofy in tihs one...

  • thats becouse the original girl that played glinda un christin i think was sick so its not her X(

  • Wats so great about Elphie's shoes?

  • I love Elphaba's shoes!

  • Helen said that they [the performers] get told not to look up themselves on sites like youtube because of the comments they get.

  • i love wicked... but the british is a bit.... idk maybe i am not used to it... but it is still cool!!

  • The outfits used in Wicked can be put into three categories; outfits you would want added to your wardrobe, and outfits that you might wear on Halloween (for fun, not scaring people), and outfits that you would wear on Halloween to scare the ^#@% out of people. Most of Glinda's outfits would probably fit in the first category for most girls.

  • Idina's voice sticks out a little at first, but that's probably because she's the only one without a British accent.

  • They did that on purpose, to show the difference between Elphaba and the rest of the people. They made the Wizard American too, to show that he was from another world (ours).

  • Ah. I thought it was a casting thing, not a plot thing.

  • The Wizard is American because he is from Omaha in America in the original story. Nigel Planner is not American. :)

  • i want some glasses like them!

  • You can buy those glasses, they sell them in the theatres I think.

  • I saw this cast back in December last year, and I have to say they were amazing, they really knew how to capture the audience! I'm going again next month with my drama class and we are doing a workshop with the cast beforehand, so I can't wait to do that and see how the newer cast measures up!

  • It's not a new cast, just Susie Blake who sings her lines and Kerry Ellis who's far better than Idina.

  • oo ok thanks

  • I hate you :)

  • not to offend anyone, but this glinda is rather annoying...she sings through her nose and it almost seems like she is competing with idina rather than trying to sing with her....just my opinion though :)

  • To add to my laest comment, I usually just skip the intro of this vid,so I never caught Idina's name. And I'm not totally ignorant. Idina was in the original Wicked, too. But the CD sounded a little better.

  • Don't feel dumb, I just found the comment funny. For the record Idina+Helen= Amazing!

  • Yeah, but their voices clash a little sometimes.

  • Of course the CD sounds better, it isn't live.

  • WICKED IS AWESOME. i have only seen vids of the US one but i dnt like there Glinda. Helen was amasing when i saw it, and sooo funni. I thort Adam's pronouncation of 'dancing' in dancing through life funni. its really not over dictated. UK RULES :P

  • The British Elphaba and Glinda weren't screeching so much as singing in their nose a little too much. And when everyone comes in to sing "Sharing one wonderful one short", everyone wasn't together, so it sounded like a snake hissing at first. Sorry.

  • That "British Elphaba" is Idina Menzel... very American girl.

  • Oh. God, I feel dumb. Sorry if my comments have been offensive to people. It's just that, if I don't know someone's name, then I call them by whatever name I hear used with them. Like this guy that I really, really like. From March 2006 to Octoberish 2006, I just called him "the dead pilot guy from Steel Pier".

  • Adam Garcia *sigh* goin 2 c it agen on thursday! cant wait!

  • Gotta love those British accents, though. . . .

  • AAAAAHHHHHHH! What have those dang Brits DONE? They pronounced too many constanents and their Glinda and Elphabe sounded like they were screeching, not singing.

  • That Elphaba is American. She's from the OBC.....

  • elphabe is the original american actress from broadway. the uk glinda, actually sounds like glinda from the film the wizard of oz. i've seen it both on broadway and in the west end, and it was by far better in London.

  • Why? Do you not pronounce your consonants?

  • Not so clearly. I mean, our music teachers stress dictation, but these guys overdictate a little. No offense.

  • when they say before we are done helen won't stop saying that its so annoying just stop when they stop!!!

  • Idina is amazing. helen...well....

  • i wasnt keen on helen when i went to see it. shes amazing as glinda ,but her voice was weak sometimes... still shes got to be good to be in wicked so good on her x

  • helen is absolutly amazing! you can't just judge her on the singing, her acting and character is just soooo funny she brings a new sparkle to glinda. aceness! x

  • stop it at EXACTLY 4:12 Helen looks HILARIOUS hehe idina rocks thox

  • there's a guy in the begining saying "One short day" who sounds like harry potter, rofl

I wonder what made Idina want to go to UK

  • I think she probably wanted 'closure'- a chance to do the show again after she never got to do her final show properly in the states.

    Plus- the U.K. rocks !

  • He really doesn't! I'd have said a bit like Rupert Everett, if anyone

  • it's not a chain letter! it's kinda scary at first but it really works!! paste this message into 3 comments and press ALT F4 and your crushes name will appear on the screen!!! its soo weird!"

  • i hate that glinda but thats not ur fault,, KoOl

  • No she isn't. Most of the other actresses who have played Elphaba are better.

  • i've never seen any1 else- idk, i mostly like idina cuz she was AWESOME in rent.

  • Its really a matter of opinion, i guess. I've seen alot of elphaba's but I like Idina best. IMO she a standard that no one has quite meet yet, but Julia comes pretty close, Eden too.

  • It's kind of hard to top the actress who originates the role...

    Just my opinion.

  • Aw I just love where it talks about Elphie fitting in...I'm a total Elphie-girl...fave character, and idk i just love her!!!!!!! +Idina was the best Elphie there ever was/is...NO QUESTIONS ASKED =]

  • OSD doesn't have any high HIGH notes. Considering she can hit the notes in NOMTW she's not really going to have trouble anywhere else.

  • Helen looks like she was having a hard time with the high notes

  • You know what, they're not that bad...but that's only because Idina's with them

  • Idina is the only one with a non-London accent, she's clashing with the ensemble, not Helen. Idina is nothing like the book Elphaba portrayal wise, the musical producers tried to steer clear of that image.

  • The lady who plays Glinda is bad. Her british accent doesn't sound good with the song. Still, Idina Menzel is an awesome Ephaba!

  • I do agree with you Stella. It's an unfair to say that.

  • I like Idina Menzel's voice alot. She's my favorite.

And yes, she's more like in the book, but it's like her fourth year at it. So, she has experience..

  • In the London version, or it might just be this performance, I don't know, Elphaba seems a lot more like the character from the book. Normally she differs quite a bit, but she seems more like the Elphaba I imagined when I read the book. Just an observation.

    xxStellaxx

  • Alpheba sounds like Idena kind of

  • I'm sorry but Alpheba's voice is sooo horrible!!!

  • don't go criticsizing when you can't even spell the name right ok? It's Elphaba, and it's not surprising she sounds like Idina, as Idina is playing her!!

    xxStellaxx

  • I dont know if you were criticising her or not, but Idina is awesome!

  • Idina is amazing!

  • isnt that the guy from coyote ugly

  • what? I think the guy from coyote ugly is someone else

  • No, Chubz144 is right. The guy who introduces the song at the beginning is Adam Garcia, and yes he's the guy from Coyote Ugly.

  • i didnt like helen, she wasnt even 1/4 as good as Kristin Chenoweth... she sounded too perky and preppy

  • Yeah I really didn't like Helen that much

  • Any guy can sing any song he wants. Just because the people in the vid. sang it in a high octave doesn't mean he can't sing it down the octave. This is one of my fav. Wicked songs =D

  • i know a good friend who sang this song... i was disappointed cos i didnt actually get to see him perform... ooer, i can imagine him singing this... wtf, A BOY was singing this song? i feel really sorry for him <snort> soz,im kinda derisive wen it cums 2 musicals... a boy singing a song on his own singing a song ment for TWO WOMEN larf out loud

  • What's wrong with a boy singing? And what does it matter if it's went for women? If he likes the song, he's allowed to sing it! If you don't like musicals, you're in the wrong place honey.

    xxStellaxx

  • okay, lets get things straight... i never sed it was wrong for MEN to sing it, jst u dont know this boy hunni... nd im the last person 2 object to this boy singing, he is one AMAZING kid, its jst that this song isnt his style of music... and also i LOVE musicals i jst kind of object to some of the cheesey songs.. high school musical for one example - noooooooooooooooo, kill me now, not HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL!
