  • @MegaEvilCrow G'day... Ah, well, they had to do something to keep the flock flying. By the 1990s, most 1970s Vintage Hangies were too unfit to run at 10 MPH, with a Rogallo on their shoulders, but could still make a fair landing... And, Aerotowing allows Fixed Base Tourist Traps. Moyes has a Hang Glider Shop in Tokyo & a Field at Rylestone in NSW. Pay in Japan, come to Oz, Aerotow in your New Glider for a week, then take the Glider back to Japan. No Freight Cost to Moyes.

  • @buzzy1147 G'day... Too true ! The days of "Cheap & Slow" are gone... Um, the name's Chris, actually. And, I returned to Alternative Energy... Search 'Solar Thermal Ramjet' to see the 2nd & 3rd Prototypes. Try 'SunFoil Science' for Raw Data... Then 'S. Short-Talk' to see how to measure YOUR vehicle. Try the 'SunFoil Mk-3 Construction' Clip for more Aerodynamic Proofs.... I only uploaded the Ultralighting Clips to bolster my credibility with the SunFoil's Aerodynamics !

  • so john, what have you done in recent years? I have had the pleasure of launching behind the moyes dragonfly... I have built 3 airplanes too. unfortunately it's no longer the golden days of flight and no one really cares to see anymore. Times have changed and the EAA is all about money and speed. Or money and STOL. they don't care about a plane that was built on 2000 dollars of 2011 money anymore sadly.

  • @JonathanHallShow G'day Jon... Ah, I'm y'r genuine Uncomputered Hillbilly, y' see ; it's all filmed on a Nokia 6120 Phone, shot in-sequence, edited in the head... And every time I say the wrong thing, unscripted as it is ; well, that becomes a "rehersal", & I start again. The Camera Start/Stop button is on the top edge, when looking at the Lens. The Pause/Continue Button is on the Other side of the Phone. I preposition the finger, & squeeze, to Work the button. Tricky !

  • I must inquiree, that as I was watching, there aws a *click* sound! Do you use a video editing software, or do you just pause the video and press play when you want to talk again? Please respond! :P

  • @magna59

G'day... Well, the problem we had was that New Hangies would freeze, in disbelief, when they had full Opposite Bar applied ; & the Kite kept rolling away. They're meant to release their end. The Weak-Links at each end of the Tow-rope need Pitch-Divergence to break them, and that develops when the Kite is inverted. All it takes is for the Launch to be under Command of the Observer... Like the Me-163 & Luftwaffe did it !

  • Look up closed loop and open loop control systems......it's such a great example of backlash problems, weather it be in a CNC machine system, or a Land Rover with two inches of movement on the stearing wheel before the road wheels start to turn. I was think about control systems on wind generators this morning, and the possability of using a newton governer to control the perminant magnets as they swing out over the coils, under the onslaught of a good blow. More breeze, more output .

  • @tomken8dy G'day Tom, yeah, the ability of a 5 & a half year-old to understand & use the camera is pretty amazing ! His ability to notice the Bright-Green Hole in the Olive-Green Dougnut, with footpaths, in the Drought... Well. Out of the mouths of Babes & Innocents... the Wisdom of the Ages ! Gliders are safe, enough, as long as y' know what y'r doing ; & y' have to know what looks right, too... (TLAR Principle !). Aerotowed Rogallos are only just viable. Tricky ! Ciao.

  • OUTSTANDING aerial photographic work!

    Dope Crop!!

    Yup, radio communication is vital.

I suddenly don't think gliders are safe.
