  • You know an actress is good when she can make you not miss Grace Kelly...

  • very good music but sad! great job on this and tremendous movie!

  • Singularly gorgeous.

    .

  • Would Herrmann have written this without Wagner? No, but he may have created a different sound world. Vertigo is his masterpeice for me. Tristan! A joy to perform too.

  • Alfred Hitchcock & Bernhard Herrmann

    einfach genial!

  • Nicely rendered by City of Prague Phil Ork folks. Wife and I were watching the movie last night here at home.

  • merci Alfred

    merci Bernard

    merci Leo

  • DREAMY INDEED...THANKS FOR YOUR LABOR OF LOVE...

  • always shivering.

bernard herman was/is the best film music composer ever.

    better than perfect.

    wow

  • The movie I made, "We all do dumb things", is hilarious and suspense-filled with non-stop fun and I owe it all to Hitchcock and Herrmann as my inspirations.........

  • I have done a movie of my own to pay tribute to Bernard Herrmann and Alfred Hitchcock for their unique collaberation that I am attaching to this site. They were a great inspiration............

  • Bernard Herrmann may have been Alfred Hitchcock's musical alter ego. But the influence of Richard Wagner, on this piece, is unmistakable.

  • @bondurango

    Yes indeed!

  • @bondurango In particular at 1:40 it has Tristan-y dimensions...

  • Thank you for this. Lovely scoring by Herrman. :)

Funny little side note...I rented the film today thinking it would be my first time to watch it, only to realize during the Mt. Rushmore scenes that I'd seen it before as a very young child! That part really stuck with me but I couldn't remember where it was from (even thought it might've been a dream, or a fake memory) until today. :D N by NW has some truly memorable imagery -- including the credits as you point out in your vid description.

  • they should have an oscar category: best cameo by the director

  • haha, that would be funny...however, not that many directors do cameos now, and when they do they never compare to the wit or difficulty of Hitchcock's appearances.

If Hitch were still directing then we could put your category into action and finally get him the Oscar he never won!

  • attachment:

i love the colors. more emotional, than brightness of modern movies

  • good way of phrasing it! the softness of the old film colors really draws you into the old movies well.

  • yeah, no discussing about music. hermann always perfekt.

nice posting. sometimes stills of movies more impressing than the movie. i love it.

  • Thank you for bringing this movie to my attention. I enjoyed the music as well.

  • If you have not seen North By Northwest, you may consider the end of this clip to be a spoiler, so do not watch to the end if you have not seen the movie! Please rate and comment! Thanks!>
