Making a chromatic composition with evolving motifs is harder than making a hard rock song and adding keyboards and operatic singing for epic aesthetics.
That being said, I actually like newer Therion. I am just sick of various groups coming to death metal like missionaries to enlighten it with their keyboards/post rock bullshit.
Thats fine, and your opinion holds some weight, just remember, music was meant to evolve, not stay limbering in the darkness like a blind man wandering around. At some point, there is a necessity for progression.

But they don't have a brain, and the proof is your getting thumbed down. Heavy metal music is really excellent in all its forms, but metalheads seem to favour brain-numbing stagnation.
Evolution is fine so long as the end result is good. Plenty of bands have changed from a more extreme style of metal to something less so and have continued to release good material. Katatonia are a prime example. Green Carnation as well.
It's sad to see the band that put out an epic iconic album like this one and then Ho Drakon Ho Megas turn into the commercial show they are today where they are no different than fucking Nightwish and such crap bands.
this shit is so fuckin gay,,,,their only good album was their first of darkness,,after that they include all those symphonic and keybord sounds,,they sell out..............and the joke that therion is today is just that,a joke band with posers and poser fans ......................
