Derp. A parent shouldn't be buying children over 18 games anyway... I'm 15 and I have been playing these so called "violet video games" since I was 10 and it benefits with making friends at school since you can play these game's with them.
Video Games should be the least of any concern as long as kids like me know how to seperate the game from reality its fine. Games should be looked as in a positive light as strategetic. ALL the games they showed MW2, AVP, and L4D2 all require teamwork and coordination. Thats a good thing. Instead of parents just being fucking lazy how about they look into it.
I have 3 girls, all gorgeous. The boys often pay attention. They have been brought up not to flaunt it though. They don't show too much skin. They don't tease. It concerns me where Australia is heading though with young men increasingly reacting on impulse rather than well formed convictions, and girls silly (or mislead) enough to tease them.
Anyone .. & that means anyone .. with a remotely normal upbringing & education, is fully-capable of knowing the difference between right & wrong .. & choosing the diif between the dark side of life, compared to 'dancing in the light of spirituality'. So .. is it wrong to promote sex-based images of kids for commercial gain. Of course it is. Are modern violence-ridden video games a bad influence o'all .. of course they are. Use your god-given brains, people, but be honest with yourselves too.
I'm just pointing out that it is common sense that it IS a problem, so instead of spending all the money on research to prove what everybody already knows, why not spend it on researching ways to make it better?
I SWEAR TO GOD! if I hear any more BULLSHIT about this violent video games! its ridiculous! When pac-man came out people wern't sitting in dark rooms listening to repetitive music, popping pills and chasing ghost now were they?

as a parent, i say its MY responsibility to educate and ensure that my daughter dose not fall into the self image trap, and what she wears as a child depends on me as i/we are the ones that buy her clothes.
and violent video games, hell i grew up blowing zombies and people away in video games and i turned out ok cuase i my parents were not afraid to dicipline me, these days you cant even raise your voice at your child with out being reported, how are we to dicipline them thesedays?
Why not take away cartoons then they have sexual meaning and are also violent aswell....Geez just like a parent the media always has to bitch and moan
