Amazing, the number of simple-minded nitwits that vote down an unpopular yet realistic assessment of hard, inescapeable realities.
Laws of thermodynamics are really pesky -- so go home and plug your electric car into a power source that makes electricity out of thin air.
And go organize and picket that very power plant for polluting the air/water that generates the electricity for your "magical car" that runs off of "magic electricity".
Yes, it is. Always in places that are quite cold. And as you must know, the striling engine operates due to temperature differences - the greater the difference - the more efficient.
So now, we just need 15 cents worth of heat energy to use the free ice in generating 10 cents worth of work.
Oh, and someone to finance, build and maintain the machinery on an industrial scale, while adding to the melting of natural ice worldwide.
ice is free some places however heat is free everywhere the sun shines. a fresnel lens in sunlight can burn a hole through steel and all u need for this engine to run is a temperature difference right ?
this is a nice implementation . although i do agree it's yet far from being energy efficient
you have to get both , heat and cold at the same time , needing two different systems to control is far more complicated , but we people know that if you take "good minds" and mix it with "time" you can solve issues far complicated then those.
this might be the future my friend.
using energy in ways that doesnt kill this planet.

We all know that electricy comes by magic, right?

So - all that was needed was 10 cents worth of energy to freeze the ice to get out 5 cents worth of energy/work.
Brilliant.
Now we just need to scale it to industrial size to generate electricity to sell to the grid.

Ice is quite free on some places on the earth you know...

Why hasn't someone thought of this, I wonder.
