  • Thumbs up if you had problems paying attention to this video lol!! This guy was killing me. I read every video title in the suggestions column to the right during the last 3/4 of the video.

  • Look its easy to say that you just need goal and something you enjoy to get through ADD/ADHD. But not everything in life is going to be that easy. I want nothing more than to experience collage to the fullest. But this means I need to do the classes required. And guess what. I'm not going to like every class I take. So this whole just pick something you like is crap. We all have things we don't want to do. ADD/ADHD makes it that much worse. Look at the positive side of it. And get help if needed

  • educate yourself ,,,read books (by sari solden).....watch barkley vieos....do reaserch...do not talk nonsense!!(i am talking to both ADHD and NON-ADHD people...

  • It is a known fact that everyone has an opinion and they are based on fact or fiction. That seems to be the case with negative comments regarding ADHD and ADD. It has been proven that children with it have a smaller frontal lobe, other countries do know of it but are slow to except it and it can be managed without the use of pharmaceutical drugs. Notice I said managed not cured. If anything I have said was confusing start looking things up for yourself. Ignorance is the same as stupidity.

  • I don't want to give up but I don't have any support, my psychiatrist is a drag, I don't have a legal job (I work my ass off for $5 p/hr [IL min. wage $8.00p/hr] & my work skills isn't good enough because my Superior yells at me that I'm too slow, too fast or forgot to do something or that i can't pay attention) & I have a baby due in June 2011. my wife can't work & I can't find a Job no matter how hard I try! my ADHD is so bad that my med's aren't effective anymore! :( I really want die!

  • I have ADHD, and I'm not able to take medication because of epilepsy. Ok, I'm Screwed. SO! What ever . Yes, I'm weird, but who gives a fck . It's not like they are going to publish it in the news paper " Cdcg19 has ADHD" . I live life how it is, and don't care what other people say.

When choosing major , choose a major that you might love. Like graphic design or entrepreneurship. Do something were you can have as much flexibility.

  • adhd is crap an excuse the drug companies love it cause it makes them very rich people need to wake up to themselves life style changes make a big difference

  • @dihle12 Your ability to write coherent statements is crap. Adhd is a serious issue, I understand how one could see it as a joke. I used to say "oh everyone has ADHD nowadays it's a load of shit" but once you begin to realize you actually have it, it becomes a lot more serious. It's easy to dismiss something that you don't understand or experience for yourself.

  • m 19 i cant study and focus.my mind starts wandering ,daydreaming a lot.i used to be good at studies in school but from around age 15 i find studies very hard.i feel anxious around in crowd, neither i want to be left alone.i dont like doing boring stuff or things that are not easy.Do i have ADHD/ADD or nothing ?

  • I take my notebook to meetings (write down tasks) because i will never remember it when i walk out.

yes, im a compulsive procrastinator - so I overload and overwork. when i use alcohol to make people more interesting at parties, i become hyperactive. i can hyperfocus if the work is interesting and challenging. I dont think of it as a disorder, my brain is just wired differently and im trying to make the best of it.

    I have never taken drugs.

Im an engineer with ADD, & my solutions are amazing :)

  • the psychiatrist was hot

  • Thumbs up if you watched this video in the middle of a homework assignment or study session.

  • Another point I'd like to make is that some of the feelings that people have against labelling adhd, are wrong. The problem is NOT labelling adhd, that is only a good thing, it is the ignorant, uneducated and quite stupid stigma attached to adhd, learning disabilities and mental illness in general. Great writers and artists were almost all across the board NOT 'normal' or "neurotypical', and no one really remembers the 'normal' people anyway. It's better to be weird, ecentric, adhd, bipolar....

  • @cdcg19 the problem with that coping mechanism is that very few work environments or people in general are understanding of it...unfortunately people generally do not tolerate anyone different than them and do not allow this. I can be mroe productive than other people but those same people will try to force you to stay and finish your work or be insulting and impatient when you tell them that you need to go for a walk or something..they consider you lazy and the only option you have is then...

  • to explain that you have adhd or a medical need to do so, and that can just make it worse. gopd people are such stupid fucking rocks. I hope it's different in the country..I'm so sick of pretentious asses constantly trying to prove something and constantly competing with eachother...no one allows anyone any room here at all.. you're invisible unless you do what people want.. haha not that I'm bitter or anything

  • Can somebody explain to me how it feels to have ADHD in more detail? people tell me I have it but never have gone to a doctor. I started to get low grades and I want to see if i have it to go get help.:'(.thanks

  • @machispachis Well it's hard to know if you have it because you're never in another person's brain, so its hard to understand how other people think ...I never did until I was 33, Well it's actually *quite* common for adhders to do well in school and hit college, where there is less discipline and more responsibility, and then fall apart...I grew up in a very ultra disciplined environment, and sort of exploded when I got to college in the city, the adhd went wild and i just couldn't cope...con.

  • @ariannahiggins Exactly.

  • @machispachis con. My advice to you, it's very, VERY important- is to go to your academic advisor or even school psychologist (free at your college) and let them know the trouble you're having, and get help for it. This is NOT I repeat NOT your fault, many people will try to tell you that it is.... you're trying which is the difference between you and someone who is at fault. Take care of yourself by seeking help and treatment so you can succeed like everyone else. dont let adhd win

  • @machispachis

    @machispachis

Watch Berkley lectures. He'll tell you all about it.

  • Top Ten Great characteristics. Creative Artistic Intuitive Empathetic Visionary Inventive Sensitive Original Loving Exuberant
  • @cdcg19 you may have those qualities which makes you a great person. but this isnt everyone. this is you. this isnt me. and we both have ADHD

  • @threadysparrow What I think is that you are thinking negative about yourself, because what would of happen if the disorder ADHD wasn't created. You will still act the same as how you are doing now. The only thing that will change is the way you think about yourself. Like I said before, ADHD doesn't exist in other countries. There will always be people like us hyperactive and impulsive, but they won't be recognize as people who have ADHD. They will probably be more accepted as regular people.

  • @cdcg19 Me? check, check, check, check, check, check, chek, check, check, check

  • i personally don't find anything wrong with adhd

    i mean, think about it

a kid with a great use of creativity and imagination

now, if they're in math class, of course they're not gonna pay attention, cuz they'd be friggin bored, so i wudn't be surprised if a kid is doodling a dragon or vampire or whatever in the middle of class

  • @atomichead777 Its not good when someone special waits for you to get online and you forget to do it because of it. I have argued with friends and family many times because they expect me to do something and I forget. Not fun.

  • @atomichead777 its opinions like that which delegitimize the seriousness of ADHD. you cant demand advocacy for people with ADHD while at the same time calling it a gift. im not attacking you. im trying to educate you on my disorder

  • i have come to see my sons ability as a gift. i will have to admit at first it scared me when at the age of 4 my friend was talking about the story of adam and eve, you know the whole talking snake thing. he was watching cartoons and turned around and stated that the probability of a talking snake was highly unlikely as snakes do not speak(his words). i was worried about him making friends in school . he said its fine mom i know how to act 7 when it counts

  • Yes the secret that helps me is always be in the mood no mater what.... In high school I skipped allot because of not being in the mood... For some reason.

  • don't listen to this shallow tripe, I can tell it is BS just from reading the description. ADHD is not a learning disorder. It is a a biological variation in the human brain. ADHD kids can learn anything that they want, but the problem is they often don't want anything that society wants, and do not fit any particular social mold.

  • ADHD is a gift and a curse. Key is balance...and I lost my keys.

  • @Rainkissed15 in what way can it be a gift.

  • ADHD is a gift.

  • I take ADHD as a gift. we tend to be faster than the regular person , but we are able to focus, only on thing that we are interested. The type focus is called hyper focus . we could focus more than the average person.

Now, I like fishing, not a lot people like fishing, how is it that I could stand there, and wait for a fish and not be bored as hell because I like it. I don't need drugs. You just have to like what you do. when it come to careers you have to love the career.

  • That is very true. If I'm interested in something I become a different person but, when I'm not I look lazy and dumb. It's hard to manage school.

  • @cdcg19 ADHD is not a gift. it is impossible to advocate for ADHD services for people while at the same time saying it is a gift. ADHD kids are not gifted because of the ADHD. it is their personality, not their disorder, that makes them that way. ADHD is not a gift in any way

  • @threadysparrow: actually it is a gift but people don't see like that. They are gifted in intense creativity and innovation. Most of our pioneers and inventors had adhd or ADD . People like Einstein, thomas edison , benjamin franklin had ADHD and didn't take any medicine for it. I have minor ADD and ADHD as a child and I like it because of what it offers me. I don't need drugs to control my ass. I'am who I'am . At work I'm the important asset because of what I bring . I'm the innovator there.

  • @cdcg19 it is arguable that they had ADHD in the first place, but it is a mistake fto put a causal relationship between their success and ADHD if they had it. its like saying ice cream sales are up when drownings are up. they have a correlational relationship just like the ADHD and success. but one doiesnt cause the other. MANY MANY MANY people with ADHD do not become successful because they simply cant do what society demands

  • @threadysparrow by the way we in the U.S make it a disorder . In other countries these people are the most important people because of its innovative and creative gifts. Other countries call them holy.

here is the list of famous ADHD people.

    adhdtexas. com / famouspeople. htm

  • @cdcg19 in other countries it is ADHD also. some underdeveloped countries dont understand mental health. developed countries have accepted the diagnosis. ADHD doesnt cause someone to be artistic or creative or sensitive. alot of people with ADHD have none of those qualities. i know alot of ADHD people and their personalities are all different. but the ADHD is not what causes those qualities

  • @cdcg19 it is not a super power. it inhibits our lives. calling it a gift is offensive to those who have experienced first hand the nature of the disorder

  • @cdcg19 please help me:'(. People tell me ADHD and I don't know what I should do. I just need your help because I used to be good in college becuase I spent my whole day studying without doing anything else.24/7. But now im tired and depressed of studying like and stopped doing it and as a result I got low grades.

People love my personality they say i am fun and creative and everything but they don't know how muchIsuffer.now that I am about to get in academic probation.i just need some guidence

  • @machispachis zfirst of all be sure if you have ADHD or ADD . I had ADHD when I was a child , but I do I have ADD. Which i have difficulties concentrating . You probably have ADD . When ever you feel you are over pressure from studying go run or do exercise for 30 min. Look right know I should be writing an essay but I just got unconcentrated. Music always help me concentrate when writting and studying because it filter out any other thoughts. everybody is different. Try reading the Gift of ADD

  • @cdcg19 thanks for taking the time to reply! If you ever can share more symptoms of ADD I would love to hear them..whenever you have time:).thanks again!

  • @machispachis

I was in the same boat as you. First, go make an appointment with a dean as soon as possible if it's not too late. They can bend the rules for you. Second, make sure you have some sort of medication. Not for everyday, but just for when you need to spend the day working. Third, make yourself accountable to other people by the hour. Plan out your day, and make a deal with a close friend to hold you accountable during every hour.

  • @cdcg19

I think I can feel my A.D.D. degrading over time. Brilliant ideas used to come to my mind in 6th grade, and I loved the daydreaming...A.D.D. literally gives you a boost in artistic ability.

  • @av3nger3 me too....my adhd has decreased alot, but also gotten worse in some ways...unfortunately I feel alot less of an urge to be creative now..it's like I've become slower

  • @ariannahiggins I feel like this too. I am a very creative individual, but I feel more dumb and less creative all the time. I think it's the stress and feeling discouraged. University professionals don't understand, and it's difficult to go from a place where everybody admired your intelligence and creativity to a place where they think you're stupid or just not serious enough.

  • @cdcg19 many of us have hyperfocus. God I get so painfully bored while doing anything boring like doing laundry..I go superfast but it takes me 2 steps to put my laundry away, and I simply can't do it without having my ipod on.

  • saying adhd is a gift is like saying "well look at the bright side of cancer, at least you will lose that weight you always wanted to lose"

  • @threadysparrow That comment was posted a year ago . I have changed my perspective on how I see what ADHD is. ADHD is BS disease that the pharmaceutical industry created to make profit. If you go to another country ADHD is not even known about.. Some countries take people with ADHD as highly important people. Like India. Just live your life how it is . Don't give a dam about what other people think of you.

  • @cdcg19 omg stfu

  • @threadysparrow SMD. BTW don't compare a deadly disease with psychological disease that only exist in the USA. Stop whining and change the perspective of yourself bc if you were born some where else you won't give a dam that you have ADHD bc it doesn't exist .

  • @cdcg19 My sentiments exactly. I believe I have ADHD and I'm in college, needless to say my grades are pretty terrible at the moment. But I hope that I can have a career that I am really enthusiastic about and love while all my friends just care about grades, grad school, and making a lot of money. I really have the drive to be successful too I just need to find something I love and driven to work at.

  • @cdcg19

We aren't faster than the regular people, and the hyper focus thing is not true. Adhd is seriously impairing because it is an executive function disorder. 2/3 of us have some sort of co-morbid disorder too. If we want people to take our condition seriously, we need to stop calling it a gift. There may be some of us who are able to have successful careers and relationships, but it's never because of ADHD.

  • lol cant belive some of you stil belive in hell and heaven what are you 5?

  • Thanks mom for stealing my Rid as a child.

  • WTF do u care if he is gay? He doesn't have to answer to whiney bitches like you!

  • I'm a girl and hell doesn't exist, so FAIL.

  • Right and fkin Heaven exist? LMAO fk u ^_^ lmao

  • No, it doesn't. Or at least I seriously doubt it.

  • it's probably just a nervous habit from talking on camera i noticed it in some of the other vids too

  • The moves of his right hands makes me so nervous! He's doing that in EVERY SINGLE clip! I like the female doctor more than him!

  • Take Fish Oil. Epa:Dha - 4:1 ratio works best for ADHD. Avoid sugar, avoid caffeine. Check for allergies.

Don't give your kids pharm drugs if they are just different. Society has a certain direction, and certain expectations. Some people are just different, and may have latent strengths that can be illuminated with the right schooling and encouragement.

Make prescriptions the last resort. Most are bad for the heart and nervous system.

  • They make the medications sound so good, i've tried lot's of medications against my adhd but theyre just given me a bad heart and lots of other problems with my life.

  • This proves that a stethoscope does not improve credibility.... all those statistics prove is that it is over diagnosed in America.

    Nice stethoscope though!

  • Where is the scientific proof of a "Chemical Imbalance "

  • I don't really believe in ADHD. But I started taking omega 3 supplements (after reading a study about its effect on the brain) and it improved my concentration greatly. It was really striking. Classical music can also be a real learning booster. Kinda like you use HipHop or Rock for workout. On a sidenote: does anyone think this drug prescription craze by doctors has anything to do with the drug problem in general.

  • "ADHD prescriptions have increased by 500% since 1981" Come one now.

  • My cousin was diagonised with ADHD as a child and started to wean herself of the medication at age 21. She told me she has had times when it is hard for her to focus her mind on one subject or another. Especially in converstations were she will talk of one thing and suddenly changes to something else. She told me that listening to the violin being played has helped her concentrate more. Because she likes hearing the different notes.

Currently she is doing her Masters degree.

  • i your cousin listening to Baroque music by such composers as Mozart or Vivaldi? Recent research shows that the only two ways that can help people study or concetrate better is listening to Baroque music or no music at all.

Baroque music is usefull for concentration because it uses 60 beats per minute, the same amount that the alpha brain waves that produce calmness.

    watch?v=i-_rh2QGShM

  • *Is

  • She finds Emilie Autumn easy to listen to because Emile has studied Barouqe music and it is influenced in the songs. She also likes Vanessa Mae. My cousin also said that she likes to listen to foreign languages. I'm guessing that's stimulates the brain too.

  • I have heard of Emilie Autumn but not of Vanessa Mae. I will check out Mae as well as about how listening to foreign languages stimulate the brain.

But please do check out the link I have posted and the full video in the sidebar at Fora TV as it is presented by a psychologist with an expertise in the subject. Aside from Baroque music, I personally like listening to Finnish music (the girl band Tik Tak) and Japanese music (J-Rock, J-Pop) as well.

    A song by Tik Tak

  • @vertigate I tried Omege 3 supplements too, but it didn't seem to do anything.

  • @vashsunglasses try tyrosine , folic acid, and b6 together . all three work together to help create dopamine in the brain. If we have more dopamine in our brain we feel happier and are able to focus more.

  • if you have ADD or ADHD you qualify for a medical marijuana card.

  • LMAOO is this for real? how do you know this?

  • Yes. dead serious, my friend got a 6 month prescription along with his medical marijuana card; because of ADHD.

  • This doctor is prepared.

If some emergency should transpire, he's always got his trusty stethoscope!

No time to take it off for an interview!

Shame he doesn't wear a labcoat, too.

That would give him REAL credentials.

  • If you don't want to take drugs for it then you can just drink coffee without any sugar in it. It helps for about 4 hours.

  • Who gives a shit if you're first!

  • FIRST FIRST FIRST FIRST FIRST FIRST FIRST FIRST FIRST! ...i have ADHD lol
