  • oh my god oh my god oh my god

  • Chord changes are amazing, B.B.'s voice articulates the lyrics with clarity and precision. Genius at work.

  • fucking absolutely amazing. had goosebumps the whole time.

  • does someone know the name of the pianist?

  • @8BoogiePianoWoogie8 I think it's Leon Russell.

  • Ohhh my god this is the best thing I've ever fuckin heard.

  • awesome

  • how can anyone even compare BB KING to Rap music?

  • @Italianqueen302 No one genre is better than the other. Plus Hip-Hop is still very young. It isn't a fair comparison.

  • @Stefandurrr so ur saying contemporary rnb is better than blues? sorry but there are genres, then there is random music for people with no skill or musical ability :)

  • @mikehayz0 .... What?

I say it isn't a fair comparison, and that translates to "R&B is better than blues"? I have a suggestion for you. Turn the computer off, go to the nearest library, and read a damn book.

  • fuck jojo dick

  • fight for SURVIVAL on halo reach to this song

  • People can say what they want about Mayer, but you don't play with the King without reason!

  • @oliverandm I love you Riley

  • @kaminaridragon66

    Please dont fly away...

  • ALL JOHN MAYER FANS THOUGHT THIS WAS GONNA BE MAYER'S HUMMINGBIRD

  • @jmforlife83 nope, knew it was actually a Leon Russell tune. Some of us do know a thing or two about music. Not all of us are 14 year old's that just get our music knowledge off the radio. Some of us were brought up listening to artists like Russell, BB King, Hendrix etc

  • @Gupps0123456 Congratulations... Since when was gaining knowledge of music from the radio a bad thing?

And since when was it important to be raised on good music? My favourite album as a kid was Smurfs - Go Pop.

    Get off your high horse!

  • owesome!!!!

  • Mayer plays in BB style, how respectful

  • i will play with all of them im sure of that

  • Lucky bastard gets to play with the greats; Clapton, King...

  • @capoman1 i'm pretty sure that's not luck. is pure talent.

  • @alxlief I guess he's lucky to be so talented.

  • @capoman1 Work hard man! That's the ONLY WAY you'll ever get to play with the greats.

  • I'm in love with the intro to this song.

  • @ARon10787

Seriously, that's one of the best intro I ever heard..

  • @Pingu311091 that's john mayer style!

  • This is what music is supposed to be. Raw emotion.

  • One of the sickest songs of all time. I've had it on repeat for like a week

  • I thought this was on "Thrill is Gone" ?

  • @ Disasterp1ce / Indianola Mississippi Seeds that's correct - Great stuff - thanks

  • Makes me want to meet the woman I´m gonna marry and sing this song to her

  • I'm going out and buying this album right now.

  • Just my $0.02

Cm pentatonic, Eb Ionian, and Bb mixo all sound pretty good

  • Comment removed

  • i can't figure the chords out

  • such a coo turnaround in thi song.... sounds like elton john inluences this song....

  • GAWD GOD JOHN MAYER PLAYING HUMMINGBIRD WITH BB KING,

    NOW THIS SOUNDS COOL MAN!

Seeing that so many of you love the blues, check bleow!

for those of you who don't already know you can get free blues lessons at

    bluesguitarmastery(dot)co(dot)uk

i checked it out and F'in love it

    its weird,totally free!

  • niiiicee

  • I'm just blown away with John Mayor's collaborations... he just like a hummingbird going from flower to flower land spreading that nectar of funk, soul, blues, R&B and ambient frequencies of joy. I'm going to try my best and play with him one day in a collaboration... he knows how to channel the feel from his instrument to the listener.

    db

  • man i love both of these artists

  • probably all i could have wanted out of the blues is this song. And personally this is my favorite recording. BB is a virtuoso, while Mayer adds a modern twist. I just thank john for trying to keep the blues going in a mainstream world blind of talent and soul.

  • anyone know the Chord progression?

  • I got thumbed down for asking what chords the song is? Ok nevermind, Gosh! =(

  • @saron380 I think they are playing it in Cm ..that's about all I can say for sure.

  • @CrunchyWacko Ah ty I thought It was Bb but meh

  • @saron380 Well I'm the farthest thing from a musician that's for sure..Cm Pent just seems to fit over it really easy..and that scale does have Bb in it....try it out...I could easily be wrong though. !

  • It's in Bb minor, guys. A Bbm pentatonic would work, as well as the relative major scale, which is D major. If you want to get a more bluesy sound throw in a flat 5th, which makes it a blues scale. You can even actually play Dminor pentatonic, if you want to give it a heavier blues.

  • Eb major / C minor pentatonic. honestly, dude...

  • @DylHsu wow haha i apologize. my guitar was in an alternate tuning when i checked this. feel pretty silly now. and i said something else wrong anyway. So correction: you can play Eb major or C minor over this, and if you want darker blues sound then Ebminor pentatonic. They do it a couple of times during the "don't fly away" bit at the end.

  • yes!!

  • @tonehunter27

    1. Its in C minor

    2. B minor is the relative minor to D major, not Bb

    3. D minor sounds like shit over this song

  • @ISS5731 ouch.. owned..

  • @tonehunter27 im not sure if my comment posted, but i just read your other correctin git, so my bad

  • how awesome is this?!!!

  • @lpdrengen AWESOME

  • I like the version with the female singers better. What BB album was that on? Had a watermelon on the cover. Caledonia maybe?

  • This version is from the 80 album, recorded for his 80s birthday

  • i think its called why i sing the blues

  • Hehe forget my previous reaction, I misread your comment.

The album you are talking about is Indianola mississippi seeds

  • @joobajoobajoo The album you are thinking of is 'Indianola Mississippi Seeds'. It is the original studio recording.

  • @joobajoobajoo - i think it's B.B. Kink Deuces Wild - the version with Dionne Warwick - one of my favourits

  • @joobajoobajoo Indianola Mississippi Seeds- It's a Leon Russel Song

  • whos playing the drums?!!!

  • Either Russ Kunkel, Nigel Olsson or Billy Ward.

A LOT of people worked with him on this album ;)

  • BB King should take some rappers under his wing and teach him a thing or too about what music TRULY IS.

  • HAHAHAHA XD

    Are you serious?

it's the other way around, they should learn from him..

  • oh, sorry, i may have misunderstood your comment :D

  • most of those guys wouldnt know music if it hit them in the face and broke their nose

  • @TCB12453 they don't deserve it ><

  • @TCB12453 rap is more about poetry , might not be music, but its definitetly art

  • @TCB12453 you have no idea what music is about if you credit it based on what you enjoy.

  • @drkenun What are you talking about? Rap isn't music in MY OPINION. I was stating my own OPINION, not yours.

  • @TCB12453 yeah, no, rap being music is a fact. rap being bad music is your opinion.

  • @TCB12453 rap not being music isn't true... It's your opinion it sucks, i don't like and don't see metal as music, but I know it is . The thing that REALLY isn't music is all the techno, computer shitmusic...

  • @TCB12453 I take it you never really listened to rap have you ? Tell me what don't you like about it , I bet you never took the time to explore the genre,.Seems to me you're labelling a genre over shitty artists , or am I wrong ?

  • @TCB12453 In BB Kings Autobiography he wrote he mentions that he listened to rap and actually enjoyed it. He went on to say that its actually similar to the blues, they sing their blues in a different way kind of thing. Just putting that out there, although I would listen to BB any day over rap :)

  • @TCB12453 You forget that modern day rappers are talentless haha

  • excellent musicians jamming... is there anything better

  • Bob Seger did a fine job on Smokin' O.P'S

    my personal favorite version

  • One word...awesome!

  • I didn't know John was featured buy BB on one of HIS albums! Cool!

  • I can´t believe how good B.B. sings.

  • This is amazing! A legend and a great musician playing together!
