i think Von Rothbart was in love with odette but he was also very evil and twisted to show it to her, instead of giving her love he took her the ability to receive love by transforming her to a swan thus making them equals. because of his evil nature he couldnt be loved in the first place.

Guys dont need to make fun of ballet, its hard to do and harder on the body than any sport except bullriding. I had wanted to learn ballet when I was little now im glad I didnt. Atleast I can watch it

What I love so much about this version is that they don't stop the music and dancing after Gillian's fouettes - keeps the drama driving as this is like the climax of the entire ballet (unlike some other clips here on Youtube). Bravo! <3

Wow the Von Rothbart is awesome and so sinister in human form and monster form (and how about that magnificent cape in human form. I want one but I’m a woman, so I guess I can't, snaps fingers). And as for the women who plays Oldie, she is such an amazing dancer,(sorry I don't know the technical name for it, but) she seemed to twirl forever. And how cute and charismatic is the prince, but that’s why they casted him. So overe all I loved this show (and part of the show, I've seen).

Did you see the clip here of the great Ekaterina Maximova (Bolshoi) doing the fouettes with her hands on her waist the whole time? I don't think anyone else has ever done that. And there's one here of her and her hubby (danseur) doing a Pas de Deux for the folks at age 53! Not quite Odette anymore, but ....

@radostsguy nina ananiashvili of abt used to do them too, in fact, i think her fouettes are more fast, these balerinas are amazing, bothe are just exquisite to watch :) ekaterina, gillian and nina are breathtaking :)
