This song is always played in USA and everywhere but not many know that is an authentic Ukrainian song. I heard the best western versions of it and let me tell you, the Ukrainian national choir is still better. Soviet Union Music education is always better. Ask any musician. Half of them, in USA and elsewhere, are Russian or Ukrainian. Many Jews too:-)
you guys have great voices but you really need to make sure you open your mouths, lift your soft palet, and form your vowels to make your sound clearer and a more mature focused sound
They're singing is wonderful, the middle and the end were the best. I love this song, personally, Christmas was a weird effect on me. I don't care what they look like, it's they're wonderful singing. I watched this at least 5 times. 5 starts.
I love how they did. The ending was perfect(It's usually difficult for me to hear the boy's part at the end and they did a magnificent job on making sure that certain part was heard. And I love how the Altos went down and all that stuff. Made it more enjoyable. :]
hey, jerk (omgjustleave4508), which one, exactly, is the fat one...they're all about the same size, except their heights (and I'n sure you're a guy referring to one of the girls).
slow down. going this fast without a LOT of practice just ruins the song. throught the song i could hear them gasp for breath. when you have to do that, it makes singing more difficult.
if you slow it down, not only does it sound better but then you can hear the words. the songs lyrics are beautiful, let them be heard and not you.
I am quite moved and appreciative of this video. My girls were but toddlers when we walked into Disneyland and saw their hand-picked "street" carolers perfrom this.
(By the way, I was moved to tears/ I usually am recalling the experience.)
guyz! try viewing the carol of the bells of an all girls choir... their from the Philippines.. and currently high school students at Dominican College..
The young ladies looked like they came ready to sing. They looked great and sounded great.
The guys looked terrified. As if they were told; "If there are any mistakes castration will occur immediately after the concert." None of them are smiling. "I'm only 16 and I am really fond of my testicles. I need to carry these notes, or else...." Have fun with it guys, you held your own and then some. Someone put you on stage because they believed in you. Your testicles live to see another day! Bravo.
I did the same arrangement in my school choir. I loved performing it and this let me relive those moments.
If i can offer a little constructive criticism, the guys on bass need to up their presence just a tad. Mind you, that could be an artifact of the recording
why would you say that... you're an asshole for saying that. Don't have anything better to do than be an asshole to people for no reason? get a life...
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
no offence but my school can do better. but we only have one guy. but he my best guy friend ever and his dad has an amazing voice! his father's name is brian hill. any of u heard of him? he is a proffesional Christian singer and he has a recording contract and evrything! so his son and my best guy friend bailey, have AM-AZ-ING voices! sry. not tryin to brag
oh you weren't trying to brag, you were just randomly telling us about your best friend and how good he and his dad are, and that your school is better, not bragging though. (hahaha!)
"Carol of the Bells" (also known as the "Ukrainian Bell Carol") is a Christmas song originally composed by Mykola Dmytrovych Leontovych based on a Ukrainian New Years chant known as "Shchedryk" and adapted into English by Peter Wilhousky. The song is based on a traditional folk chant whose language was thought to have magical properties and to be of prehistoric origins and was associated with the coming New Year in Ukraine before the introduction of Christianity
actually they were probably singing the harmony part which is mostly ding dong dong ding dong. Yes..I would know since I was once in my school choir and we actually sung this song with harmony. Baritone/bass singers (males anyway) gets the lame repetitive parts that are not that fun
Ok yeah I imagine its a high school choir. Most people posting negative comments probably have no musical talent, it was still a good performance, and at this level there is always going to be room for improvement.
Quarter million hits. Number 2 hit on google. Top 10 overall on YouTube. Highest rated non instrumental rendition, pro or not. Beats out the Trans-Siberian Orchestra rendition. The two girls on the left help punctuate the song with their clear voices, sharp lyrics and energy level. Love it. Bass is weak but this recording was obviously not supposed to go this far. Would love to see all of them come back to do a second rendition, prepared for this popularity with the tools for the bass. GREAT JOB
we are doing SSA in our concert choir this year and i am soprano 1 and everyone says that the sopranos always have the easiest part but not this time.
those words are really hard to pronounce when you are moving so fast...
im gonna record my choir singing this, we kick but, sorry if that sounds conceded but we do. the school may be taking out choir program away though because our levy did not pass.
Oh wow I'm sorry to hear that. If the choir is so good, have a benefit concert were people could petition to keep the choir program and re-think the levy. I hope it doesn't happen; that would be terrible.
I don't mean to be a critic but to me the balance could be slightly better. (specialy the altos) Only because I'm an alto and our choir had the same problem at first.
But the outfits were pretty darn spiffy if I might say so myself. ^_^
Also, just advice, go straight to the end "g" in the dings and dongs, it gives it a more bell kind of sound.
But I liked it! You guys did an awesome job and it was very pretty!!! I give it a 10!!! :D
