  • 106.7 KROQ Los Angeles

  • the 80's are here IN 2012

  • One of their more funkier jams from the 80's. This music was being rocked on 'KISS' (later 'POWER') 99 and WDAS fm in Philly back in the day. A time when it didn't matter if the music group was black, white, foreign, or domestic. If the music was good, it got played on the air.

  • Moments In Love brought me to this song. I use to listen to it on the KKSF Sampler For Aids Vol. 4 tape in the 90s. This song is better though.

  • love the 80s indeed.

  • Didn't realize they ever made a video for this song. I feel like I'm watching some Local Access stuff on Cablevision.

  • I never new this was a song! I was born in 1980, and in the early 80s this was used on a Tuborg larger add which ust 2 totaly freak me and my sis out bigtime!

  • I was born in 1973. I got to say that the 80s was the best in terms of pushing new boundaries in music and art.

  • @rigomrtsfx fucking racist

  • @rigomrtsfx fuck you rap exists since the 70s, asshole listen to Run DMC, De la Soul, 2pac and Eminem and check the dates !! Even Johnny Cash made rap. stupid guy, do you think all the crap is rap ?? Hell Katy Perry is rap ?? Go fuck yourself, and before, tell all the stupid anti-rap nation who spread its hate all over youtube than they can go to hell

  • One of the few good things that Britain should always be remembered for

  • I have the urge to walk backwards and slam the doors of random cars.

  • The 80's. Should have lasted another 20 years.

  • 4:10. I'll never forget how hard the club rocked during this part...

  • The 80's were the greatest decade when it came to clothes, music, movies and now it's all a shell. Now all the things today is the result of a hijacking.

  • @scfig009 Clothes, I think not and music is good in all decades if you're not a top 40er

  • 2:43 holy crap a Citroen??? What the hell?? Random much...

  • I was doing that leg dance at 1:50 in front of complete strangers at victoria station, and I wouldn't let them pass.

  • from :53 till 1:44 i started crying the nostalga hit so hard.

I went thru 3 copies of Invisible Silence because i played the TAPE so much.

theres so many groups & performers today that wouldnt be who they are if not for AON

  • Ahh yes...... THE 80's....... Best time for music. Poor kids now don't have a clue.

  • Comment removed

  • The 80s was a cool decade

  • very cool - flashbacks galore!!!

One of the most original bands of all times ...

  • yeah !!!! 1985 souvenir ...

  • This music cannot be duplicated. Pure art, pure genius. I am so glad I experienced the 80's as a wild teenager.

  • Ahhhh good robotic session

  • Man this was my jam!! It was just so different from other songs. I use to love rockin this groove in the old Escort GT back in the day.

  • I still have this 12 inch single in my crate!! have not heard this in about 20 years!!! This was my joint back in 85!!

  • @LucienProvencher I dont know.. when I listen to the song on good headphones it sounds like it.

  • nothing like a rhythmic sample of a dogs growl!!

  • @lysine It's a dog's growl?

  • great song!!!!!

    I love it!!!

  • This song is from the album "InVisible Silence"

  • what a terrific song!! 80's did not suck for music!!

  • Art of Noise really did wear out their Fairlight CMI's didn't they! And what amazing stuff came out of it!!

  • TRY art of noise LEGACY - you might find the track your looking for

  • can anybody please tell me what album this song is on because i can't find it ANYWHERE ONLINE OR THE DAMN STORES

  • I remember listening to them when I was a kid, man this brings back memories. And yeah, they had a huge influence I think on modern beat boxing

  • I always liked the Art of Noise. I bought 'In Visible Silence' when it came out and it was really a work of art. My best friend and I played the hell out of this album, especially 'Legs'. Sadly my friend took his own life a few years ago and now this song has an entirely different meaning to me. Thanks for posting this, it brings back great memories.

  • This whole album reminds mr of when I was auditioning 4Drama School!

  • Je m'en souviendrai à jamais.

    EXTRA++++

  • best song ever

  • The Gods of Sampling...

Bow to the Art of Noise!!!!

    *Bows*

    ^_^

  • *bows*

  • The whol album "In Visible Silence" was fantastic. The older I get the better it seems.

  • oh- i was gonna say the name of the song is legacy, 'til i realised this is a different version of the song i was thinking of. thanks for putting this up. love art of noise footage!

  • Oh yeah. This is the real deal. The art of sampling.

  • It's splendid tune!

  • 今聞いてもスネアドラムの音色が斬新!

  • @marilisa Goodgame500 said "Snare drum sound novel now hear!"

  • @Goodgame500 英語で馬鹿の書き込み !

  • their music makes anything look good, that's just how good Art of Noise is

  • Noise forever!

  • @jblackrupert - oh yeah! I appreciate alot of the DJ's today, but man - to this day there's not many who can lay a beat down and throw a pretty melody on top like Art of Noise. And they were doing this, like 25-30 years ago! Definitely ahead of their time and still cool as the other side of the pillow...

  • The compilations always do a variation of Legacy. But you just can't beat Legs. Perfect companion song for Beat Box.

  • AON is lovely...

  • does anyone know the sample source of the intro?

  • i can sing the song a bit. the main line is "when will you say ci ci?" I tried to find it, but was unable. Does it matter when this song is so good? :)

  • thank you so much! Now i know everything about it:

The intro is from the "Mills Brothers" titled "say si si". It's from the album: "The Best Of Mills Brothers 2" from the year 1965.

    cheers

  • Downloaded! Thanks Faxinger. I still remember hearing this at a cafeteria back home that only played standards over the speakers. It was very weird hearing that opening and kind of exciting.

  • once this come's on, you pretty much have to dance! I miss Art of Noise...

  • this group spurned a generation of video that was to revolutionise the whole music industry and they did it without words. Excellent! would like them to redo many of the songs which are currently in the charts and those which have been and gone.

  • Ok seriously, where can I find a copy of this version? I just bought "In Visible Silence" and this is not the same edit. Anyone??

  • The In Visible Silence is the closest one your gonna get .... This was the video version mixed for this only ..... They released a 12" mix w/ versions on it but none sounded like this ....

1985 China Records US 12-inch Vinyl sINGLE

    ART OF NOISE - Legs

  • this is where Coldcut and Hexstatic got there ideas from.

  • This is where EVERYbody got their ideas from....and no one knows who the hell Anne Dudley and friends are at all....they mixed in samples, spoken samples and other types WAY back in the day....and all we have these days is emo and pussy hip-hop and Coldplay and Mariah Carey and....what else? Nothing. This stuff is the real thing: real imagination and class can be used to make anything....the Art of Noise did it with synths and samplers and....their brains. Amen!

  • Meh,

Art of Noise was influence as well. Mixing concepts perhaps east coast. But yes, their concept had a big influence. Anne Dudley and Friends, it's no mystery; I'm from the 80's but her bio has been online for sometime now.

  • Detroit and NYC had played a major influence in the U.K. Techno aka Electro Funk, the original Techno of Detroit started during the early 80's, while hip-hop electronica ruled NYC and helped to define Eurorean music and vice versa.

  • PREACH BROTHER .... PREACH !!!!!!!!!

  • @thomasmoredamian

    Nice read.

Yes, sadly music is gone to crap these days.

The Art Of Noise are beautifull.

  • @thomasmoredamian I'm sure you spoke (No! Wrote!) deeply from all of our He(arts) ! Excellent

  • @thomasmoredamian Art of Noise deserves much recognition, but electronic music is a perpetual revelation this days. Open your ears.

  • @thomasmoredamian Because sadly, back in the day, there wasn't such an easy way to get noticed like youtube is now. (To some extent.)

  • soo goooood

  • Oddly, I've never seen their videos until recently but I have loved their music for 20+ years. My friends don't always understand it but I think they're great. Check out the "Peter Gunn Theme" with Duane Eddy. Classic!

  • Such creativity... and what do we have now? Oh, yeah. Hannah Montana.... :)

  • Art of Noise was spectacular! I saw them at some KISS(LA radio) sponsered event back in the 80's. The Power Station played there and as a HUGE DD fan I had to be there. So awesome to hear this song again-been 20 yrs I think.

  • never ever heard this ever!

  • The Art Of Noise rule!

  • Good intro I can only say KICK IT <KABOOM !

  • Oh my goodness do I love this song and the 80's. Wow the enormous dinners, big hair, Jordache and Calvin Klein Jeans, the antique truck, Joy Perfume, Via Spiga shoes, Jonathon Martin dressed, Sharif purses..... Wow, and the parties oh my the parties abundant food, yes, I am European so parties were abundant back then. I remember driving a 280Z, and that car took all my paycheck to pay for gas. It was rad those times.

  • amazing

  • This song is rad. As good as Close to the Edit. *sigh* Good times.

  • Close to the Edit is my fave Art of Noise song.

  • Yeah? The Close to the Edit video is cool too.

  • this is exciting

  • nice one, but the album version is so much better! I miss the secomd part! this part is out of space I don't even know words to descripe the sound.

  • TU-TU-TU-TUBORG!

  • Christ, mate, but you must be as old as me remembering that old chestnut!

  • 5/5 Rooots AoN

  • Wow. It has been YEARS since I even thought of this song.

I couldn't even remember the name of the group but managed to find it in a roundabout way in a search...and now I can again see and hear this stuff which I used to listen to on cassettes, and watch on TV on "Night Flight" on cable, on Saturday nights. Yeah, I'm an old guy now.

  • I'd like to see the video where they had several sets of trousers, occupied by pneumatically operated legs inside them "dancing". Is it on UT anywhere ?

  • What you mean is Herbie Hancock- Rockit and its up here.

  • i wish there where time machines, so i could live the 60's to the 80's be sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet

  • this is awesome to see so many AoN fans here. I thought i was one of the only ones that liked this band. I've been a fan ever since "who's afraid of.." and been listening to them ever since.

    LEGS !!!!!

  • 3:00 is just out of this world. Spacey synths, oh yeah take me to orbit.

  • This is a VERY sweet post,marilisa...I remember when I bought 'Who's Afraid of the Art of Noise?' way back in roughly 1984...I was hooked!

  • Oh crap! The door-slam bandit strikes again!!! Did anyone get a picture???

  • Classic Avant-Garde meets English art student idealism(which has been a permanent theme in modern rock music since the 60's). Great tune from AON...one of their very best.

  • I <3 eggs.

  • takes me back to high school in the 80's! I love it!

  • an old tune lol bests bits are left for later

  • i need a fucking 808!

  • Recuerdos del KOKOLOCO en Monterrey... Genial

  • Nice : D

  • Wonderful. I just heard this song for the very first time yesterday and all I can picture while watching it is long legs in high-heeled shoes marching rhythmically to the beat. How pleasing it is to see what's in my head in their video. :)

  • what a trip

  • Sthis was the first post-Trevor Horn Art of Noise song I heard, and I fell in love with it on the spot. I would love to find out if the sample CD they put out is still available. The drums on this song are slammin'.

  • this song is famous in Japan as theme of Mr.Maric.

but i didn't know this song is art of noise's.

  • I haven't heard this in years, it still sounds so good, produced by the great trevor horn, love it, thanks for the upload.

  • this song just has such a contagious beat ...... i love it!

  • There's nothing else you can say but you could try learning to spell.
