I was never a Hogan fan but what he did was revolutionize an entire industry single handedly. Before him wrestlers came out to the ring with no music or enthusiasm. Your right! As I mentioned I'm talking about the Hulk Hogan of the 80's. Even then you know behind the scenes he was doing steroids, pain pills and probably cheating on his wife. It was obviously all a big act! It's wrestling! It was all about entertainment during that time and Hulk Hogans character was the total package to attract fans of all ages.
Hogans the best theres been in wrestling but the reason I can say that is because I grew up during the 80s and I saw and felt the impact he had on the sport. Up until now there still hasnt been a bigger entertainer in wrestling thats brought families together in such a positive atmosphere (say your prayers, eat your vitamins) as he did during his peak throughout the 80s. You didnt hear him curse or did you see him turn on his friends. It was cheesy but it worked. A Positive Role Model !!

I really would like to see some data to back your claim. Hogan in the late 80s was, to my knowledge, the most popular wrestler. I remember those days- I lived in the US at the time- I cant imagine Flair being compared to him then.

I was never a Hogan fan but what he did was revolutionize an entire industry single handedly. Before him wrestlers came out to the ring with no music or enthusiasm. He took it to a level no one ever could have or will again. He was a guy who took on all of the top bad guys and made you want to achieve things that seemed impossible. Hulk Hogan is professional wrestling.

What actually hurt me though was seeing Linda crying like that. This woman was just heartbroken that her Brookteenie didn't want to come and visit her and she was in tears. She said how she felt alone during the whole situation what with Nick and jail and Hulk of course having the new girlfriend and so she was alone. I think if both people involved are ok with the age and as long as they are both over 18, it's their business. But Brooke sees it differently and finds it inappropriate. :*(

Hogan is the worst thing to ever happened to wrestling, I'm glad Vince Russo took out the trash when he did. My grandmother could be trained in one week and be a better wrestler then Hogan, all he does is Hulk up, body slam and leg drop the guy is like 1000 times worse then Cena!!!!

My son and I met hulk a few years ago and he was so gracious and down to earth. I was a fan growing up and am a bigger fan after meeting him! Thanks for the pics and autographs hulk you are the best!

Your right! As I mentioned I'm talking about the Hulk Hogan of the 80's. Even then you know behind the scenes he was doing steroids, pain pills and probably cheating on his wife. It was obviously all a big act! It's wrestling! It was all about entertainment during that time and Hulk Hogans character was the total package to attract fans of all ages.

Hogans the best theres been in wrestling but the reason I can say that is because I grew up during the 80s and I saw and felt the impact he had on the sport. Up until now there still hasnt been a bigger entertainer in wrestling thats brought families together in such a positive atmosphere (say your prayers, eat your vitamins) as he did during his peak throughout the 80s. You didnt hear him curse or did you see him turn on his friends. It was cheesy but it worked. A Positive Role Model !!

I dont agree with your other post. Hogan got top spot because he was the most loved wrestler, not the other way around.
As for being overrated, you got it the wrong way around imo. The best wrestler is always the one that brings in the biggest crowds. If they want to see a non technical wrestler, well then he is top dog. Simple as that, since its all about the show. Otherwise you need to look to a real sport.
And fyi, we would not have settled for just anything in the 80s.

First off, in the 80s (which is what we were talking about), Hogan brought in the biggest crowds. More than that, he helped improve the popularity of wrestling more than pretty much any other wrestler. So, good candidate for the greatest ever.
Very funny use of the word "better". Vince is a business man, and he went with what sold most. Since this is a show, thats all that counts. Clearly the other wrestlers were not "better".

I really would like to see some data to back your claim. Hogan in the late 80s was, to my knowledge, the most popular wrestler. I remember those days- I lived in the US at the time- I cant imagine Flair being compared to him then.
As for tv time its just pure speculation. Typical for the haters today. You have no idea how big that man actually was. Not to mention that he made failry few appearances on regular wwf programs, he just normally headlined the ppv events.

Let me just sum up my point of view so there is no misunderstanding:
1. Its pure entertainment, so the one that entertains the most, or promotes the genre is the best- that would be Hogan. Please dont treat it like you are talking about MMA, the whole thing is an exercise in marketing.
2 I lived through that time, and I can safely say that my perception of things does not agree with yours. Hard to argue with someone who has no direct experience with the time period.
