  • Excellent!!! Thanks a lot GracieAcademy

  • Love the way Rener teaches.

  • @latebjart ahh staircase not suitcase ok everything makes sense now lolno

  • @latebjart ya um a syringe isn't a weapon but I guess they could poke you. Also wtf with the brief case are they gonna beat you with it or just take syringes out during the fight. As for the pitbull I really don't think a bunch of thugs that can't even get a real weapon are gonna be able to control it. Also where do you live? Inside a woman's nightmares? When have you ever heard of this situation?

  • @latebjart

That is a fantasy scenario, will never happen

  • I was in a street fight when I was a white belt , a group of us vs a group of them, I used bjj defensively to controll who ever came at me, then tossed them away, I was the only one without a cut or injury

streets is like mma, you must avoid fights and areas of fights you cannot win, and stick to your strengths

  • he says elbow weird

  • crazy

  • how high

  • Grab the knee, grab the ankle...muffle muffle muffle lol

  • That is a great lesson. Thank you.

  • BJJ is awesome!

  • thank you Gracie Family for all the great knowledge!

  • how do you escape, defend and counter the side mount triangle armbar?

  • great teaches!!!!!!!

  • Great technique!, I can't wait to try this in class tomorrow. Thank you!!

  • Love this Technque

  • These Gracies still don.t understand that a pur mix is much more versatile than this one dimensional way of combat.

When will they learn. They can't even compete anymore without a terrible ending. They were once kings, now they struggle to even make it in a competition.

  • you're an idiot. EVERYONE in mma uses bjj, even the military uses it. if you do not know bjj, you will get destroyed.

  • Comment removed

  • @thekoda i couldn't agree more... bjj basically teaches you how to be a ninja... no joke.

  • @thekoda well, not EVERYBODY. Fedor doesn't

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH are you serious? fedor won 32 times and 16 of them by submission. lol.

  • @ico414 ok? and? BJJ is not the only art with submissions. Fedor does Judo and Sambo for his ground game. he has never done BJJ. lol.

  • @GRANDMASTERxxxFLASH Which is why he got caught by Werdum.

  • @thekoda even if you do not know strikes as muay thai you will get destroyed too...because bjj does not work with 2 or 3 people

  • @bushidoartss NOTHING works reliably with two or three people. You're talking nonsense.

  • @MrMZaccone did you try krav maga?or muay thai..for 2 or 3 people if you have powrful strikes it works

  • @bushidoartss I've tried Krav and seen this proven wrong again and again. ALL defense against multiple attackers should be based on escape and evasion. This is the best that can be hoped for without assuming vastly inferior weapons and/or tactics on the part of the enemy, both dangerously stupid assumptions.

  • @MrMZaccone but anyway bjj not efective for srlf defence

  • @bushidoartss Based on what? Besides, this isn't BJJ this is GJJ and THERE'S A DIFFERENCE.

  • @MrMZaccone There is ONE main difference but other than that it's exactly the same. They focus more on being able to defend yourself and win against a bigger and stronger opponent. All cool though. People who say BJJ and GJJ is nothing have their head up their asses.

  • @Manny1222 So it's different but exactly the same. Nice logic there, Skippy.

  • @MrMZaccone My bad. Would you like me to explain it to you in quantum physics? I told you the main, if not the only, difference between BJJ and GJJ; That GJJ focuses on ways to defend yourself and WIN against a bigger, stronger, and more athletic opponent. Check here if you are still confused check GracieUniversity[DOT]com. Scroll down to "Gracie headlines" and you can have all your questions answered.

If you want to be a troll I won't feed you. So back under the bridge you go.

  • @Manny1222 I've got a blue belt awarded to me by Helio Gracie in 1996 but maybe you should explain it to me again, maybe I don't get it. More likely I just can't understand the point you're trying to make through all the non-sequitur bullshit. BTW, I also have a G.U. account and have since day one. Maybe we even agree, what do you think of that? I just can't tell because I can't make heads or tails of what your actual point is.

  • @MrMZaccone Then in that case, maybe we fail to properly communicate. Really though, they have it explained. Personally i really don't care, it's the same thing to me.

  • @Manny1222 It's like saying there's one main difference between apples and oranges but other than that they're both exactly fruit. GJJ is oriented to self defense, it's how Helio shaped it his entire career. His grandsons have taken up the same path and a lot of BJJ has drifted from that path. It's all in how it's taught, you're right though, that the catalog of techniques is very similar.

  • As a BJJ Instructor I would say the difference between a combat sport and self defense is that a combat sport (such as BJJ, boxing or MMA) trains you to do combat in a one-on-one, predictable environment with a previously agreed upon set of rules. The "street" is the exact opposite. Let`s say you are attacked by one or more assailants armed with syringes in a dark staircase, and they have a pit bull with them. Forget anything related to "sports". An armbar won`t help, neither will a side kick.

  • @LateBjart Then allow me to run really really fast. lol

  • @thekoda yoshihiro akiayama doesnt know bjj, karo parysian doesnt know it and dong huyn kim. there doing fine

  • @himoms1001

They may not have black belts in Jiu Jitsu but they do train in Jiu Jitsu, especially Karo. It's hard to find anybody in MMA who does not train in jiu jitsu. At my gym there are a ton of judo blackbelts that are taking classes in jiu jitsu.

  • @130kali even if they train "jiujitsu" how can you say there not training judo

  • @himoms1001

Because as great as an art Judo is, it has it's limits. You may be a Judo practitioner, which is why you cannot see it, but I almost double dare you to enter a competition with an elite grappler like an amateur mma bout, or a NAGA competition and you will see. A lot of Judo practitioners switch over from Judo to Jiu Jitsu. They usually combine the Judo throws with the Jiu Jitsu philosophy of grappling.

  • @130kali there is no limits to judo, ground fighting is judo. standing grappling is judo. you have 5 ways of winning in judo: submission, throw, pin, points and disqualification. tell me which one is limited now. jiu jitsu you have 2 ways: points, submission

  • @himoms1001

Jiu Jitsu offers takedowns and throws. They both derived from the same system. If you do some research you will learn that Judo is considered to be a sport in Japan. Jiu Jitsu was too hardcore for sports. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Japanese Jiu Jitsu, and Gracie Jiu Jitsu all vary in their philosophy and approach to self defense. I only have some many words to really prove my point, but if you walk into a jiu jitsu gym, you will know the difference immediately.

  • @130kali jujutsu was not hardcore at all! it was thought that only thugs fight and only thugs know jujutsu and that is why judo is considered a sport because in japan it wouldnt be accepted. please tell me the different philosophy as i see none.

  • @himoms1001

Never mind dude. The philosophy is different. I have studied this stuff my whole life. I know a lot of people that are black belts in Japanese and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu as well as Judo. Just enter a competition with these guys and you will quickly see a difference. All I know is martial arts, so I don't have any reason to make this stuff up. I myself was bias towards Jiu Jitsu before I started training in it, and I will tell you it's a wonderful art that's forever evolving.

  • @130kali if you don't know or cant tell me the difference in philosophy then your bullshitting and making shit up, as i stated before judo has more ways to win throw, sub, pin, points and dq while jiujitsu has 2, sub and points you clearly have no argument against me without judo there is no "bjj"

  • Comment removed

  • @himoms1001

look "himoms" I do know, but I choose to not to argue over dumb stuff. I'm still saying go to a school or tournament get your ass beat and you will find out. I'm not going to argue with you anymore. I have a lot of friends in Judo. I also studied Judo, and Jiu Jitsu, and I'm not evaluating anything from a close mind. Personally I don't care if you never do jiu jitsu, It's your loss.

  • @130kali your not going to argue? even though you gave me at least 5 replies PLEASE! and if i suddenly enter a school tournament and get my ass beat the philosophy will suddenly appear? what are you trying to say!!! clearly you don't train in either one

  • @himoms1001

It's getting old. At first it was a conversation, but now it's apparent that you don't want to see the difference. Japanese Jiu Jitsu works under the old Samurai cold it's more about locks rather than positioning. JJJ also incorporates strikes and pressure points. Judo is all about locking in locks as they are in the act of throwing the individual. BJJ is more evolved as it comes to the ground. They have more transitions, guards, and each BJJ styles varies in Philosophy.

  • @himoms1001

BJJ is always evolving. BJJ trains both gi and no gi. A lot of BJJ schools incorporates wrestling with Judo into their stand up. GJJ is more for street combat rather than sport tournament. There are certain things in Judo and BJJ that you just wont see in GJJ. GJJ also uses more strikes while on the ground. I don't have enough characters to go into great details. Trust me when I say they are not the same. BJJ & GJJ are excellent of the back. You can't put a judo fighter on his back.

  • @130kali again, your just generalizing terms that are subjective. how do you know a judoka isnt that great off their back? someone has to get pinned dont they?

  • @himoms1001

See that's what I'm saying man just forget it. Go ahead and keep living your life. I grapple with a lot of brown belts and black belts in Judo, so I am not making this stuff up. You're deliberately being stubborn, so having an intellectual conversation with you is impossible.

  • @130kali wtf did you say? judo is exactly like jujutsu except the techniques that require power are removed, in judo there is striking but not in the sport of judo. judo has ground work and its worked on every practice so you saying "You cant put a judo fighter on his back" is the most uneducated statement you've made

  • @himoms1001 Today's jiu jitsu fighters aren't using yesterdays grappling moves (well some). You're going to run into a lot of different guards and set ups. Fighters like Karo are trying to update Judo, but not without the help of first studying jiu jitsu. If I put a judo fighter against another Judo fighter he will do well on his back, but if I put him up against a jiu jitsu figher, he'll lose. The difference is Jiu Jitsu emphasizes more on grappling. That's why I keep telling you to compete.

  • @130kali @130kali judo is the art of grappling wtf are you trying to say and please explain how a judoka will lose against jiu jitsu. you keep stating things about judo that you're not even educated on.

  • @himoms1001

Get lost. You're just arguing like a female. If you think your art is so good put it up against another art, in this case jiu jitsu, and you will see the truth other than that get lost. I personally do not care if you never train in jiu jitsu, w/e. I have grappled with judo fighters before and continue to do so. If you're trying to learn something go and compete, but if you're trying to prove your art's superiority get lost because unlike you I actually grapple with other styles.

  • @130kali ground fighting came from judo not jiujitsu. seeing that you never even make an argument to the statements i give and you keep repeating the same things over and over again.

  • @himoms1001

Now you're talking crazy. I don't have time for this. You're the only judo fighter that's still trying to keep hope alive. Ad Santel went to Japan and beat all the top Judo fighters with ease. You may know them, but out of respect for them I will not mention their names. Once Santel beat 5th and 6th degree black belts, Japanese fighters began training in Catch wrestling abandoning Judo. That's why the majority of Japanese MMA fighters train in Catch wrestling and jiu jitsu.

  • @130kali please tell me the difference if you train catch wrestling and jiu jitsu than if you train judo its all ground fighting isnt it!

  • @130kali and why cant you disclose the names of these judokas? when your 5 dan or 6 dan then you must be old. im surprised you even say they're even competing

  • @himoms1001

Because I don't want anyone reading this to think that I'm trying disrespect judo or those great fighters. I just want you to know that everything has to continue to grow and evolve. Just because something has grappling on the end of it doesn't mean anything anymore. Catchwrestlers have to learn jiu jitsu, jiu jitsu have to learn wrestling, and so forth. A lot of times with martial arts the art fail to evolve with the time. Peace man I'm not trying to diss anyone.

  • To all the Gracies in Torrance...thanks for all the great info. I love training with them. I look forward to every class I attend

  • Great video, can't wait to share it with the guys at my gym... What if he blocks your leg with his inside arm (in this case his right arm)? I'm guessing the physics of it mean his arm just gets pinned to his chest?

  • Yeah i cant wait to use them on my uncle next time he attacks me.

I already got him in an arm bar a few times so he cot on to that but this he will not be expecting thx Gracie's =)

  • When he stoped your leg from crossing over his chest, the first thing I thought was triangle. (I'v only had one BJJ class)

  • @gicaustics

    wtf ? no entender pelotudo

  • rener....your explanations are crystal....clear...5strz

  • What if the opponent grab your lapel with his left hand or block your move by lifting his left arm while you try to get the mounted position? I tried this and I faced this situation many times. I tried grabbing his left arm, pulling toward his right arm and making the movement. I'd like to get my question answered.

  • Go for Americana if his hand goes to grab your lapel. Or you could also try to separate his arms and go with the regular submission esque side-mount

  • In my opinion, i reckon that you'll not be able to get his arm if the guy tries to get your lapel 'cause you'll not have angle to this. But, anyways, I'll study this position 'cause somehow I liked it.

  • Well if you don't have the angle to grab his wrist with your left hand to initiate the Americana then just like trap the arm with your head and arm in combination and then isolate the other arm by trapping it with your legs in a crucifix-esque position where there are many submissions available

  • I can't wait to try these moves.

  • More quality stuff from Rener... thanks bro

  • i really like rener's light-hearted, friendly style in these videos. great techniques of course, but what really shines through is rener's attitude and good nature. great videos.
