FYI: Anything that alters *perfusion, a condition in which the body receives adequate oxygen & nutrients, places the patient at risk of going into shock.

Being bitten by a horde of fire ants alters perfusion.

It don't matter to me. She should've had the child examined when it was bitten before. That to me shows neglectfulness on the mother's and possibly the father's parts. I'd charge child abuse against the parents and had both children removed from their custody. Then maybe they could get them back, but under probation conditions and constant supervision by social services workers daily visiting. One slight sign of medical neglect, whammo, they'd lose the kids, permanently.

Good the kid was wearing a seatbelt in the truck as they hit the brakes when they pulled up behind the ambulance. I know it was 1990, but the medic according to his protocols (if they allowed) could have given benadryl or epi, by calling the hospital. Whatever.
