HELP!!!! i downloaded the widgets put them on my archos 605 and when i click on them it say "this is not a recognized file type. it will not play" wat do i have to do ????????

you need to have the web browser plug in ($30) and have a wireless access point in range and you have to know the password.

I recorded a size comparison using house hold objects but I can find the file. Basically the device is as wide as a soda canis tall. you can put 15 pennies on the screen so I will try to find the video and put it up or you can just ask me questions.

you can watch you tube videos. you can log onto msn but not messenger. you can zoom into website by double tapping the screen

they just added an alarm clock in the newest FW, but I have heard that it's not the greatest :(

yes it does but it only brings up a song and you have to have speakers plugged into the headphone jack.

how do you get the flash games to work on it. It tells you to put them in the flash folder on the file transfer and i have done that but i cant seem to get them to work. can anyone help?

The reason why I wanted to try the Ipod also was because I find the archos software as being quite unstable; I find that it freezes often. I perform clean installs and it still freezes. Often, I would unlock the Archos and it would freeze; if ever I put my cell phone in the same pocket as my archos, and the cell rings, it freezes because of the interference...

OK, I actually have the archos 605 and I just purchased the Ipod touch so that I can see what Apple products are all about.

I love the fact that archos can read so many movie formats out of the box. Minimal need of conversion: yay!

However, I do prefer the interface of the Ipod Touch, very intuitive, screen is much brighter (although resolution of the Archos is bigger and better). And oh so sexy too!!!!

The battery life is pretty good. It is about 5 hours video and estimated 14 hours playing music.

I've seen in some webs that archos has divx and xdiv on it, and you can see divx videos from the archois memory and from the internet too (if you have the plugin)

And in a video I saw a man doing it.

The archos is better than the nokia. I like it better because it has a 160Gb harddrive. It is a video recorder, and I just like the design. the nokia does have a better web browser, voIP support, microphones, a real keyboard. if you are buying a device for internet get the nokia. if you want one for videos and internet get the archos.

well I download flash games off of the internet. the processor is low power and it causes some games to lag. and I think they are just standard flash. I dont know waht format.

Yup, .swf files.

google "download flash games", {forgot exactly what I typed}. There is a website that lists -searchable- files that are in SWF format. Don't expect to run anything too complicated, though, and games like Line Rider don't even get past loading.

one thing I haven't seen listed here {but it's not like i'm searching} is that it plays videos directly downloaded from youtube {as in .FLV}, which is one of the coolest things ever.

Yeah, Archos is the best PMP or even MP3 player I've ever had, and I've had a lot. I actually liked Creative Zen Vision : W for a while, but it crashed just like every other Zen anyone I know has ever had. plugh.

hum, my Zen Vision M never crashed, I wouldn't go as far as call it the best mp3 player but for total value it really can't be beat. For audio quality the Iaudio X5L beats it as well as for battery life.

My friend got a touch and replaced it a week later with a nano 'cause he couldn't stand not being able to do anything without taking it out of his pocket.

I hear the Archos doesn't have much of a problem with that because it still has some buttons.

I don't like the idea of having a touch screen do everything..

when you have it in your pocket the screen will be pushed and something will happen that you dont want. their is a lock the screen and buttons button. it locks all of the buttons except for the volume button. you basically have to take it out of your pocket to change songs.

touch screen only works with fingers, it doesn't work with any other things you touch on with...

no you can use a stylis. or a pen or anything, ex: a nail, paperclip, etc. the archos has the buttons and the screen so you have multiple choices. to turn up the volume you can use the onscreen control, volume button, or use another set of buttons. so you have more of a choice.

I did a battery test and I got just about 5 hours. 6 hours with the backlight on low. it all depends on how big the file you are playing is and how much the harddrive needs to spin. I was playing the same 500 meg file over and over again until it died.

no I don't have that that problem but i will upgrade. i tryed out the dvr station gen 5 today watch a lot of movies i love top gear show from uk. I did a video showing it part's of transfomers. I had to read the manual to look up something's. the cool part is the charger part no longer by usb.

I think the update is good. it fies th problem with non syncronized voice when watching shows and fast forwarding. do you have that problem? and it does some other things that noone would need.

You can't compare that nokia with this, this has 160gb space, many video formats and codecs you can think of that you can play, record TV shows into MPEG-4, very hi-res screen, plays HD vids, optional 5.1 surround sound, and many other. And it's a PMP, PMP don't have stuff like GPS u know...
