@dnukem88 they didn't burn down their studio, they got a call from ch. 7 saying tell everyone on your news our studio is on fire & that it took down our signal. the fire started because of an eletrical box behind the city skyline background. don't even try to tell me that wabc rigged chopper 4 to crash, that was the manufacture's error when building the chopper (an Areospatiale AS350BA).

Not only was Channel 7's studio damaged, their local and network picture "feeds" were off for almost three hours [10pm-1am], with just a dark screen being shown in New York. By the time the station managed to get things under control, they began to show the 10pm West Coast "feed" of "BROTHERS AND SISTERS" at 1am(nyt), and presented the complete "WORLD NEWS NOW" broadcast from 2 to 4:30am.....

Nice of WNBC to keep viewers updated on the fire at WABC, but why do they say a fire in the "Eyewitness News studio"? Its not like they're obligated to mention the branding of channel 7, why not just say the channel 7 studio? I'm thinking WABC is going to use the opportunity of the studio fire (and anchoring the news from the newsroom temporarily) to build the new set we've been hearing about for over a year.

A couple of years ago the WNBC Copper spun out of control, a few years back another WNBC chopper crashed into a river, WABC gave them direct feed from thier cameras to report and show the scenes.

Well it didn't crash into a river it crashed into a building in Brooklyn. WABC's NewsCopter 7 happened to be in the vicinity and maraculously caught the incident with their cameras. Again, the New York Market sometimes works together they are all colleagues after all its the same job, they are not enemies.

Actually, there were 2 crashes. One crashed into the building in Brooklyn and previous to that, one crashed into the Passaic River. It was the brand new one that they had the commercial for. I can't post a website but if you search NYTimes there is a story about it (The river crash was in 1998, building one was in 2004)
