@youngmasterpete ... lol, I'm playing minecraft right now, and watching this vid. *glances at the minecraft window* oh... looks like you're correct Young Master Pete
I don't mind admitting, this scene made me cry in the cinema when i saw it the first time. It just goes to show that you don't need stupid 10 minute "I love you" death scenes, or have people cry in order to get you to care.
@scratich1 haha thats funny cuz i had the privilage (<<<idk how to spell that word) of growing up with both lol kinda makes me realize im kinda old now lol
just finished the books and its actually frodo describing the grey havens as he's leaving middle earth in the very last chapter and its very sad indeed!
@zibeddy Frodo also dreamt of "white shores and a far green country" when he slept at Bombadil's house. These are beautiful passages and the way Peter Jackson integrated them in his films are excellent.
Ian's facial expressions throughout this scene are impeccable. The way he looks when describing the far green country, the way he has this knowing smile........makes you hope for a better beyond.
Yes, and a brave scene, too. Today talking of death is not very acceptable and yet death is "a part of life", a passage everyone will eventually have to go through.
The Lord of the Rings (book) is very much about mortality and it was brave of Peter Jackson to reproduce this dialogue as well as clever as he changed the context completely, as you may see if you read the book excerpt.
The passage brought tears to my eyes, it's just beautiful writing, meaningful, poetic and just beautiful all around

A wonderful scene of this movie and Gandalf is absolutly right.
The Death is just another part of the life and everyone of us will go this way one day.

Aw, I love this scene so much. I often get distracted though by the vain pulsing on billy's neck. XD
Still, this always makes me feel hope.
