Interesting footage there, TileNut. Wish I could've been there. And why is Robert there looking somwhat reluctant, a bit awkward and not always the gracious and appreciative celebrity with the odd fan? It's all because of his older brother. "Charles said I had to do it (draw, that is)," Robert would say.
that girl that works at hi de ho comics now,she is sooo rude ,she acted like if i was gonna shoplift and told me not to do something like if i was a child.her name is mary i can tell she is one of those bug eyed people that are control freaks dont go there if she is there she just brings my day down i wish she wouldnt work there,i bet she thinks she is too good for the job anyway .she should quit and go to a higher paying job.Mary if you see this message .... please leave hi de ho comics.
i've read interviews where Crumb has described this as a pretty dark time in his life, and that he nearly killed himself at one point. But then, he is sort of a cave wimp, or a flakey foont, after all.
I know, I was thinking the same thing - he's so touchy that if you shoved the camera any closer, he'd probably say something or freak out. That's actually pretty good for the year, though.
It's odd how informal the whole thing is. It's like they're in someones living room. And these guys charged the comic world with a kind of energy that, to me, makes them more important than any rock star for simply the amount of time, energy and creativity they put out.
@DeepSouthWrestling1 Ah, the asshole part.

Robert had no choice. It was either become a cartoonist, or explode into a million pieces.

I *thought* that was Spain! Nice to see Moscoso, too. This is a very cool video.

I think he also really hated being having a camera constantly in his face when 'Crumb'
the movie was being filmed.

And the taller guy as you pan left is Victor Moscoso, Zap and poster artist.
