I'm not one to defend people who mess up national anthems, but it sounded to me like he was singing in the high countertenor voice which is meant to harmonise with the main vocals. OF course that doesn't excuse such a disharmonious performance, he should have had a practice run!

At least from what I know he didn't say the wrong words like the English lad who sung the Croatian National Anthem at Wembley! Croatia won that match 3-2 and afterwards jokingly called the man a 'lucky charm'!!
