  • yeah so for those of you who don't know, there IS a high pitch ringing noise. Most teens can hear it. The noise is also used in some malls to keep young teens out at certain hours. Some adults can heart it. It doesn't have too much to do with your actual hearing, but the younger you are, the easier it is (generally) for you to hear higher pitch noises. I'm only 18 and I can hear it. My DS does the same thing and i can hear it whether my ear is next to it or not. :( Too bad I lost my DS receipt.

  • Anything to fix this?

    I have the same issue.

  • i can hear it, i'm 17. my ds lite also does this but you gotta have your ear right next to it to hear it

  • uhhh...huh?

  • i couldnt hear it but i felt my head go heavier or something D;

  • my digital camera makes the same noise and it haves no touchscreen

  • my dsi makes the same noise but i hear it with my owm ear

  • me! but it is so unnoticeable i had to put my ear on the screen

  • damn i can hear it

  • omg, my ears have been ringing uncontrollably since i watched this video. I'M GONNA SUE YOU!!!... oh wait, my ears have been ringing cuz of the cystplatin i took a few years back, nvm.

  • i can hear it

  • u fail

  • radiation....

  • omg...wutever yur doing iz making my right ear ring.

  • Very high pitched xD

To the people saying: "I can't hear it"

It's a prime example of your hearing range not being that great xD

  • @xTheEmoOctopusx so i can hear above 55000HTz but i cant hear this...-_-

  • @XWatchLearnX I was only joking, but the noise is real.. maybe it's the headphones you're using or something? O.o

  • ... I can hear it!

  • i hear that xD ,,,,

  • Lol i dont hear it am i deaf? ooh i just had a shower maybe that why o.o

  • ???????????

  • but thats normal in touch screens, my plam TX does the same

  • ude i have HD earphones and i heard nothing with the volume up to it's loudest...

  • omg.. i could hear that.. my mom didnt hear it at all!! she is like "you are crazy!" lol

  • sounds like a bird

  • OMG! thats amazing!

  • i cant hear it? :o

  • Thats the same sound i get when my ds freezes, but louder!

  • wtf

  • didnt hear anything cept camera shuffling

  • i had to turn my speakers all the way up to hear it

  • did not hear anything.

  • It goes *meeeeeeeeeeeeeeee*

  • hu? what did you hear?

  • yay! nintendo just made a new feature, the portable IRRITATOR!

  • ouch, sounds painful.

  • This sound blows my ears. how can i fix this???

and i hawe ds original too but i cnt hear nothing

  • How to shave your ds!

  • @Tyntje606 lol

  • THIS very thing happened to mine. When I first had a dslite, pressing the stylus to the screen would make that noise - it wasn't from the speakers - it was the screen itself. for some reason it stopped over time. maybe yours will.

  • its the LCD

  • I hear it. The best thing to do unless you get a replacement that doesn't do this, is just wear noise canceling earphones.. Does the DSi do this???

  • What is the thing your putting above it?

  • microphone

  • my Ds does that, its really annoying, even when the sound is off, I still hear it. do you know how to fix it?

  • My old DSL did *not* make this sound. I just purchased a replacement one over the weekend, and it makes the SAME exact sound. Is there any way to remedy this? Or are we just screwed? It's more than just annoying to me; it's actually semi-disorienting as I'm so overly sensitive to pretty much everything.

  • Welcome to the wonders of electronics. Get used it.

  • cool i heard it

  • i dont hear anything

  • tickles my ear drums.lol

  • mine does that as well. step it up nintendo.

  • Every computer does this...

  • You mean monitor?

  • No I mean every electronic device

  • i had my volume on 150 to hear it. dude thats fucked up. does volume affect the sound? like sound off noise gone? or no?

  • the nintendo DSi make the same sound

probably all the NDS make this sound

  • me no have probmle

  • i think its the processor or something in the ds making it run

  • i cant hear anything, but my eardrums feel funny

  • mine does that too

  • I can only hear it when I turn the volume ALL the way up and put the speaker right next to my ear...when I'm hearing from the computer, that is.

I can't hear it at all when I play mine...

  • i can hear it

  • i can hear it but barely

  • That thing is pretty cool.I think I've heard older gaming systems making that noise before,my old GBA did that.I had to listen closely,to my surprise it was my game system.

  • maybe you have a wasp nest in your ds

  • oh yeah i hear it..

  • my phone makes that sound

  • i can hear it when i put my ear close to the screen

  • That sound is just the high voltage inverters running the screens backlight. The inverter circuit is probably behind the bottom screen. If your up to it, open up the DS and put some copper/alum foil tape around that circuit, Im sure there is already some in there and may need to be "beefed" up. And just be careful when applying/reassembling that nothing will short out. =]

  • tv's do the same, but its a bit more unique. louder or something...

  • That's the one annoying sound that not everyone older people can hear. It's cool to put that ringtone playing in class and make headache for every student. :P

  • Then use a normal pencil, why do u use that strange one??

  • tem cada pessoa debimental nesse mundo

  • i couldnt fix it, but i can safely say that putting a screen protector on the screen helps, it makes it a liiiiiiiittle bit harder to hear

  • when i first heard this on my DS i thought it was the screen working like a CRT (you know when the flyback insulation thins?)

  • What are you using? It looks like an over-sized torch.... T_T

  • lol It's a Sony minidisc microphone.

  • so, what did you do ? did you found a solution ?

  • anyway, where im going is that like i said, it stopped doing it for some time, so maybe there`s a way to fix it !! something must have changed or moved inside the ds during that time, right ? if you know something about this or have found a solution already please respond, its really depressing not being able to play it because of this headache making noise and i dont have the money to buy another ds : (

sorry if something its badly written, english is not my first language

  • sorry if i cannot be of more help but if you try listening to something else eg. ipod, mp3, etc. then you might no hear it but as i don't know the frequency i can't help more. if this doesn't work maybe you could try taking off and then putting the protector back on/put on a new one. You might also have had the volume on too loud and done something to the speakers (blown one, loose wire) if not then i am sorry but i just don't know...P.S. the protector was slowing the sound vibrations down !

  • im thinking about replacing the screen protector, but im guessing that it was just a coincidence :S it would be really weird if that fixes it, the problem with listening to another thing while playing or even using headphones is that the frequency is reeeeeeeally high so i can hear it above any other sound/music. (i can play normally with two enormous headphones built to block all of the outside noise that i have but its annoying) oh, and i never turn the volume all the way up so :S..

  • i didnt get the P.S., are you saying that the protector was fixing it ? because if that was the case i didint do anything to it, it just started with the noise again out of nowhere :( anyway big thanks for answering so fast, i guess ill just wait and barely play with headphones until it stops again (??)

  • HEY ! my lite does the same thing, but the weird part is that it stopped doing it for some time.. around the time that i bought a screen protector for the touch screen, so id figured out that the screen protector was "blocking" the sound or somehow fixing it, but the other day while i was playing i heard kind of a popping sound and it started with this friking high pitched noise again !!!! now im not even playing anymore because its so annoying :(

  • This is Normal.

Like derwisch999 said it comes from all LCD and its the backlight. (Most of them do not all i think.)

Thing is if people some people can hear it more than others, It might be because you have sensitive hearing. People with tinnitus will easly hear it.

  • people with tinitis hear high pitched noises 24/7 Dx

  • not 24/7

  • wat make that sound?

  • w d h

  • i can hear it but who cares!

i bet if you put the mic next to the speakers while you are playing a game you'll hear noise too.

  • this is a video for people who are interested so please if you dont care then dont bother commenting

  • put it on your ear because this sound is way to low for even a 1 year old tpo pic it up

  • i can hear it

  • ok lets set this straight, its not a voltage inverter because the DS screens are not powered by CC lights they use LEDS. The noise your hearing is interference given off from the clock signal of the touchscreen.

  • This is not the screen self!

Its a voltage converter, producing higher voltage for the displays lights ; )

  • i can hear it lor

  • no no u ant smart no nose u muts have ear wax in ur ear lol .. der ter der

  • i don't hear the sound and i tried everything!, except putting the speakers in my ass!!

  • How to hear the noise:

Set your YOUTUBE VIDEO PLAYER volume to high, not the windows/mac volume.

  • what it actually is is the microphone in your hand coming close to the mic right in the middle of your ds

  • i dont hear it!

  • i hear it on mine now.. :( but only if i stick it on my ear XD)

  • I put this o nand my dog when mentle! D: poor dog happy me :D!!

  • ya, when i charge the thing, it does that, and i'm the only person im my house that can hear it...

  • are you the youngest? cos only kids/some teens can hear it

  • Oh, and...it's bad for me. Sometimes I want to play when I have to go to sleep, so I lower the volume all way down. But my mom notices the FRIGGIN' interference!!!

  • *nods* My old DS didn't make it, but my new DS Lite does. If I press the Touch Screen a bit, it lowers down.

  • sounds like the kind of sound electronics usually make... Most power dealing kinds (power supplies, ect.)

I dunno though, not a DS user...

  • what is that weird sound?

  • ? i heard nuthin, turned my speakers to 100% and still nuthin =\\

  • My ears hurt...

  • if you cant hear it, its very faint not like a big screech, it sounds like its in the background, but its just a faint high pitch sound

  • i hear it,but i had ot turn my speakers to full.but wow.

  • ???

  • i got that on my phone

  • I almost can listen it, it's really, really low volume with that high pitch, but I can percept it.

  • i heard it!!!!!!!!

  • i dont hear shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • if you don't hear it, it means you have the hearing of a 50 year old! XD

  • nah , my 50 yo teacher can still hear good , i would prefer ,.......65 xD

  • i cant hear it!!! what the hack??!?!!??!?!

  • yea i hear it. and same here.

  • I can hear it.

  • wtf?

  • i have headphones that are really expensive and I use them for my psp, but when I put the psp close to cotton there is a weird pitch in my headphones.

  • cant hear any high pitched noise

  • the same happens with my motorola Z3 cell phone, so weird...

  • yea i get the same dam problem it is so annoying

  • sometimes but now no

  • Thats just the crappy japanese electronics that they use to mass produce those things. Its not the charger, but you might try hitting it, but not to hard. My sister threw hers at the wall because she kept on getting her ass kicked in pokemon, and it broke the LCD screen.

  • haha! kinda inevitable... (that it'd break)

  • OMg my DS Phat does this when it charges!!!! So ANnnnnoooyying, when i charge it while sleeping. T_T

  • just charge it in the basement, or your brother's room, lol!

  • xD... I lost my charger so i cant charge it but i have a car charger! So i just plug it in and it charges while the car is off.

  • Lol, i have two of them, i got one from amazon when i thought i lost it, but i opened up my mathbook and there it was, LMAO!

  • The charger of my bro's one is quiet. Maybe its just the voltage or something (We have 230 Volts @ 50 Hz)

  • Its not my charger its my ds!! But i don't really have a situation where its charging in the same room and its dead silence.

  • i hear it

and i also have tinnitus (a high pitched ringing in your ears for a certain time for me its been 3 days so far) and i can still hear this sound

  • So do I. The sound goes away randomly.

  • i hear it

  • lame

  • i can hear it

  • i hear it when its up loud

  • i hear nothing

  • isnt that a magnet thats why

  • AWW Why dont you change the tuch screen hav u tried opening it up in the motherboard

  • ya i hear it just put ur volume up all the way

  • Its the prossesor (250mhz) thats operating on a so low clock freqesy that humans can hear it.

  • ... stop talking out your ass.

pentium cpus operating at this frequency aren't hearable as well >_>

  • Humm...

Do you have a so SUCKING cpu at your computer?

And sorry for that i ment 150mhz

  • nerds. (@oerg866 & hanshihe)

  • its so high that you cant even here it im not kidding

  • vete a cagar

  • that is very sad

  • That's probably normal.

  • nie its really really quiet so dont be a douche and say FAIL

  • Thats normal. You take any microphone nd put it to something like that it'll do that. Like putting the mike up to the stereo? I did that made a louder noise

  • i heard it it sounds very quiet

  • that sound come from all lcd displays

its the backlight of the lcd

the sound comes too on my pc display

  • yea i heard it the second time .... i heard the first time but barely !

  • Hi have the same problem, and I returned the ds, got another one in a different store and had the same problem again.

  • im using headphones and i can't hear it

  • if you are older than you can`t because you can only hear higher frequency sound.

  • im 12

  • im 11

  • me 2

  • r u using a microphone that records high frequencies? cuz that's just my guess to wut ur holding

  • it is just an high quality microphone ;)

  • What is that thing he holds above his ds?

  • I heard it and im 10

  • i to

  • My DS makes that sound when I'm charging it.

  • im black and i dont hear it.

  • im 15 and I ear it...put your sound up...a proof:close the video...make it work,you will ear it...

  • im 12 and i didnt hear it next day when i was sleepy i heard it

  • i hear it and im 15

  • i heard it and im 12

  • I R 14 and i heard it :O

  • i can't hear it

and i'm 13 is that bad
