Love this version live. Saw them at Jones Beach a few years ago. They were the best of the night! Their version of this song still gives me chills. I love it!
Heart covering my favorite Who song! Ann is often called the 'Female Robert Plant' or the 'Grace Slick of the 70s', though no one ever mentions that she was probably also influenced by Roger Daltrey. I usually don't even like to hear anyone other than Daltrey sing this song. Ann did a great job though. Look for Ann and Daltrey singing "Kashmir". It's awesome.
What a splendid choice for her soaring soprano! You've done a fine job with the photo montage, as well! You were fortunate to be so close to the stage!
To vocally do this tune justice, a singer has gotta have both the tremendous vaocal range AND the power to sustain it. Ann has both! More importantly, she obviously digs this Who classic, as she puts so much passion in to it.
This is how you do a cover song the RIGHT way. This is the only cover of this song that made me cry like I did when I heard the original for the first time.
It happened that year, that Heart hit Norman, Dallas and Houston in a three day period during the vacation I had planned all year. Most of the pictures are from Norman, some are from the Houston show. Norman was the first time I'd heard Reign and it was freaking amazing. Many fans who'd been to the show before that date had been telling me about it. Heart did not disapoint.
@mstralwind i have been a heart fan since the 70's and i watched them in a live concert this w/e and they performed this song. i had never heard ann sing it before, she did it perfectly. its now one of my favorites, ironically , along with 'love hurts'! thnx 4 posting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You know, you gotta have real guts to sing this song. If Ann was a guy I'd say balls. This must wreck your vocal cords I bet. Before or after this you need a swig of Jack Daniels !!
Thank you again for putting this slideshow together! They surely picked a perfect cover and here is to the hope that Love will Reign over us all.:) From the Queens of Heart to our hearts. Great choice Ann and Nancy.:)

Both Heart and Pearl Jam played excellent covers of this classic. So similar yet so different.
Stop comparing, guys. They all have soul and are paying homage to a buncha legends.
