I was born in Texas, to parents who came from Guangzhou. As a child, I went to China once in a while to visit family, and I hated it. There was way too much smog, a lot of people who spit and smoked. Dude Northerners and Southern Chinese are two different people. Southerners (cantonese) are more similar to Vietnamese and cambodians. cradle of Chinese civilization is like in Hebei/Hunan area. we just absorbed the southern aboriginals (current day cantonese chinese) like 2000 years ago, so they're missing from chinese history for 3000 years

If you really want to travel in China, I suggest you go to Shanghai, Suzhou, Wuhan, Beijing, Chengdu, Chongqing, Dalian, etc. places. Guangdong really not suitable.
