I was really disappointed about this anime because we never understood what was Gantz, who was the guy in the black ball, who created the technology used by the heroes, what really happened to them (dead or alive?) and why were there alien in the first place... Even, when you want to maintain a certain level of confusion, that's just too much unknowns for me.

Then, I read the manga and it's now in my top 10 favourite manga. Since then, for a weird reason, I started to like that OP :P.

@lymebomb5 its only in the anime. It never happens in the manga so its just a plot point created in the anime to make the mystery of the series deeper and creepier, probably.

no. pay attention more, shes the recruiter. at the start someone says somting like 'do you remember seeing someone when you came here' (i think it was nishi) and kei realized it was the old lady that asked kei about the train platform she was on, she is on the scene everytime a gantz member 'dies' she was there at the massacre and she was the car that ran into fags scooter. the old lady in gantz that died with her grandson on the second mission was different

@end585 the old lady isn't gantz or related in any way to it. Nishi simply told people that the last people they talked to was recurting them for a tv show and dangled 10 million yen in front of them so they'd attack the aliens while he finished the job when they all died. so... yeah... O-O

You know, the one who came up to him and asked him for directions in the first episode and then appears to him in the final few epsiodes as well as a few points in between.

Manga was great and the anime was pretty good except the screwed it up trying create an ending where there was one.

I'd recommend that you disregard the last few eps and start reading the manga.

@jrmiles101 @jrmiles101 It's been a long time since I've watched the anime so all I know for sure is the last one or two eps are totally different, probably more. If you've already watched the whole series to the end you might as well just start reading the manga.

You can read the manga at thespectrum period net(If you can't find it; google search for thespectrum).

Also if you haven't seen cowboy bebop, neon genesis evangelion or black lagoon, they are all worth a watch.
