this is not a funny thing people died in this and some of think this is funny. How will you like it if you ummm fell of a cliff and we think that is funny yeah thing of that.>:-{
okay, i lost my comment, but the three remaining shuttles are: Atlantis, Endeavour, & Discovery... The two that are lost are: Challenger (Jan 1986) & Columbia( Feb 2003)
the o-ring caused expansion & the leak on the Challenger, & the tile damage to the wing caused it to ultimately come apart,piece by piece, until a leak into the cabin at great speed & the surrounding heat & fire as they were re-entering at such a high rate of speed caused all to burn up in a matter of seconds..
what was too funny???? Our astronauts disenigrating, losing the shuttle, not sure where the humor lies in this event, oh the car alarm going off?? hahaha you have a weird sense of what is deemed funny..
The shuttle was about 40-50 miles away from the camera at the time that the images were taken. The flame trails were from very large metal fragments, not the crew, must of whom were "protected" within the cabin and found relativly intact.
It's possible...the suits that they wear are made to withstand decompression, It was designed to protect shuttle crew in the event of loss of cabin pressure at altitudes up to 30 km, It also serves to insulate the crew from cold air or water temperatures after a bail out from the shuttle.
sad

At 4:57 are those the bodies of the crew burning up? I don't want to sound rude. Scary thought. God Bless them and their families.

I never thought of that way, but I guess it is.
