Get off the beaten path. The authorities will try to direct you to nice touristic areas of which they are understandably proud. My suggestion is to talk a walk or a taxi ride down the narrow alleys where the real people live and work. Early morning walks are ideal to follow the bicycles and watch the city come alive in the morning.Everyone will end up seeing the highlights, but you might some some great culture off the main road.
The music is Slow Rock or Disco Rock not Waltz for sure. The folks in the video are not dancing the way it should be but who cares as long as they are enjoying it; and most of all they try to dance "in time" with the music and that's what matters most : )
@dogcom Thanks for noticing. After 3 years you prompted me to go back and remember the trip to Shanghai by reliving the people-watching on the Bund. I don't know a waltz from a tango...
I am making a trip there in May. Any suggestions for a first time visitor?
