Very nice! I saw that CN 15th paint scheme for the first time going through here (Kingston Ontario) a couple of weeks ago. The background on my channel was that train, but you can't see the locomotive. Great video!
From Newton to the border, it's Track Warrant Control authority. Maximum authorized speed is 25mph on the Swanton Sub. Speed restriction of 5mph on the East Alburgh trestle and drawbridge.
I film CN 323 every so often on this side of the border. It usually waits for Amtrak's Adirondack at CN Cantic. Usually a daylight operation. Runs to St. Albans in the morning and returns in the afternoon to Montreal.
The Swanton Sub is a joint operation with CN. NECR dispatcher out of St. Albans dispatches from St Albans to the US/Canada Border. Northward movements from there to Cantic are supplied by RTC Montreal.
Just get an enhanced drivers licence and you can come across. :)
I was wondering why you were living with our friends to the north in the edge of the U.S. You, walking with a camera? This must be a rare event ever so more without a tripod. Hehe
oooozy...ok i have a dumb question. are you retired? you seem to have a lot of time to go wherever and shoot these videos. Not trying to be negative here. love the railroad videos...keep up the great work.
No, I'm in college in Vermont so I take videos up north now. Last year I didn't have a job, and I probably won't this coming summer, so that's how I have the time to take all of these videos.

As usual Eric very nice work. Looks like you have found a nice treasure trove of action up your way. very nice panning and zooming to follow the action. The viewer could never tire from seeing your videos. Keep up the great work. I look forward to seeing more. I hope school is treating you well. Enjoy.. Steve & Sharon
Thanks. The work is busy, but you can't complain when you are walking distance from the tracks. It's definitely a different lifestyle up here; things are great. Hope everything is well with you also!
There is something about those CEFX SD40-2s that makes me want to model them. I think I will have to do so lol. Also that yard I am modeling on my layout. Gotta love the NECR...I have seen a lone GEVO take the CN324 into St Albans before with a monster train. Btw are you on the crossing or did they let you film on the side of the yard? There are a few places where you can view from the side but they are pretty secluded and hard to find.
Nice catch on 323/324, I've been waiting for them to get one of these.
As for chasing through Swanton, coming up South River Street, just keep going straight. Even if you did make a wrong turn, you should have no problem beating him to the west end of the East Alburg Trestle (they do ~5 MPH across the structure).
Those CN Dash 8-40Cs are ALWAYS going through Illinois here especially on the bigger Main Line of Mid-America trains (M396 to Toronto, M343 to Winnipeg, etc). Sometimes I see 'em here in Decatur where the A431 (which is a short-haul manifest) train I catch terminates. Great compilation, Eric!
@MainlineProductions1 The Scheme is to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the Privatization of the Company. The Company was Privatized in 1995 from the Canadian Government . The loco depicted is SD70I 5616 (wonder if they'll paint her like this also)
Excellent video. I'm not a huge fan of CN, but I will admit that the 15th Anniversary paint scheme looks very nice. Plus, I do love C40-8s, and that unit made some wonderful chugging noises.:)
One of the reasons it was working hard is because these particular Dash-8-40C's are worn out from years of coal service on UP and CNW. It will be a miracle for CN to get more than 5 years of mainline service out of them. I speculate that CN might have plans of using them for local trains or short-haul mainline trains like the one(s) here in this video.
Any idea why the P&W engine was in the consist?

Great video. What do they mean 15th anniversary? CN's been around way longer than that
MainlineProductions1 1 year ago
@MainlineProductions1 I believe it has something to do with it being 15 years since CN changed from a government-owned to a privately-owned railroad.
