  • RIDLEY??????

    *cries like a BITCH.

this game is shit , im sorry.

  • I swear, people are so damn ignorant! It's not a game that would be depicted as a great game (compared to today's standards), but at least Team Ninja and Nintendo were courageous enough to at least launch it!! I honestly enjoyed the story far more than the gameplay. :P

  • I'm not crying!

    There's water on my visor...

  • This song just does not belong in a Metroid game.

  • @WiiThoko >nerdrage

    bewhew dealwithit

  • To me, this was one of the greater Metroid games; it really depicts Samus as a real living human being with emotions, rather than a "faceless" soldier that just goes around shooting things and blowing stuff up. It shows the person behind the mask, so to speak; anyone that dislikes this game either has no appreciation of good storytelling, just bad taste, or doesn't get the point of this game; it's not just about shooting aliens, it shows who Samus really is.

  • Fitting.....but that alarm was hilarious

  • I liked the game, but then again, I am easily amused by Metroid

  • My god this game. >_>;;

Its very badly written, unfortunatly. However, the music is very good. :)

  • By the way, what's the name of this song?

  • I love this game!! The story line is amazing! I would've liked for Adam to live, but he had to sacrifice himself :/

    - this song is tear dropping and it's also depressing

    - I was crying when Adam died and when she went back to get the Helmet

    - I was ballin.lol

  • The reason why everyone hated Other M's story is because they made Samus the stereotypical female lead. She doesn't need anyone to save her. She's Samus motherfucking Aran. I was so excited before this game came out... man, what a letdown it was.

  • this song make me think what I have done in the past until today, It make me cry

  • What the hell is this

I expected an explosive fanfare for the mightiest lady in the galaxy, instead it's a melancholic piano piece. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad or anything, it just doesn't fit at all.

  • Even though this song cheats (What with the occasional solitary high-note) it's still pretty darn depressing.

Truth be told, I really didn't flinch when Adam sacrifices himself, but when Samus went for the helmet...

    I was like:

    Poker face

    Poker face..

    Poker face...

    ...

    EPIC SAD FACE :(

Man, I was depressed for the rest of the day, and a bit the next day.

    Stupid hormones...

  • Stupid faggots, enjoy the music and SHUT UP. Why people have to discuss abput everything? ENJOY THIS BEATIFUL SONG AND RELAX.

  • I love the game even though I got mixed up by the words that were involved in the game. But hey, we get to learn a lot of how the Metroids were developed and how Adam made his sacrifice. We learn a lot that connected from Metroid, Metroid II, and Metroid Fusion. I get to learn more of this great game. Long live Metroid!

  • 3 people never played Metroid.

  • 3-5 year for made this awesome game with special effects *-* I can't wait for the next metroid game!!!

  • @TheWhistleTeam nonononno the story is fine...BUT nintendo did a shitty ass job with the English dub SO it look like a bad story....if NoA did even a half assed job with the voice acting...the game would have been more orgasmic...

  • I like this song -- maybe "Part" of it fits with the Mystery surrounding Samus Aran, but i don't think that it really has what the first 2-3 Metroid games had -- and that was what people liked with Metroid games. This song is lighter then the Original Metroid music -- but who am i to complain. Good song.

  • The only thing i hate about the metroid series is how samus aran is portrayed as being sexy in fan art and not serious, the emotion in this game brings out the even more serious side of the metroid series and i actually want more like it.

  • @nintenjoeb Well, the thing is, everyone I know that has played Metroid, friend or not, has agreed that they've always seen Samus like how she was in Other M. I mean, she lost EVERYTHING at a very young point where her mind was still extremely moldable. All the beings she saw die and/or be eaten in front of her (her parents), the closest thing she had to a son, sacrificing itself for her...the people that raised her vanishing...just one of those is enough to scar someone.

  • @Man1cmanMario I call bull. Few people know that the space pirates destroyed her home via just playing the games. I had to read about it online, and then hunt down the comic(like a decade ago). Even then, no one spent time talking about her personality of how she handled it cause that just isn't addressed. I mean I guess you and your friends did for some reason. I think her having batman-esque drama isn't something people would disbelieve, its her exaggerated spider-man whiny-ness

  • @GadGades Well, while true that that IS overexaggerated at parts, it CERTAINLY draws NOT a reason for as much hate and spite as it gets. And believe me when I say that I have always imagined her virtually the same, minus the flaw I just said. It's "only human" for her to be the rest.

  • @Man1cmanMario It would have been passable, had it not been for the horrendously bad acting IMHO.

  • I love this song and I think it fits Samus in general. I couldn't imagine that Samus is a very happy or adjusted person. Her life sucks to put it bluntly. She plays the hero but she's not Link, her hands get very dirty. She committed genocide for the greater good, like you look at the Metroid's and you think its better for them and the rest of the galaxy if their dead. And while heavy handed at times, I think it was about time that they showed that in Other M.

  • @sepewrath Samus = Hardy and badass, if she goes mellow i go yellow bro!

  • @sepewrath

I agree wholeheartedly. BUT. I don't think other M did this well. In my opinion, it did it rather terribly. It didn't show Samus as herself, rather, as a normal person. Based on what we knew prior to Other M, Samus is a fairly bitter person. Quiet, dedicated and vengeful. There are many other ways to display feelings than just stuffing the being of Samus into a stereotypical dramatic female role.

  • I don't recall her being all that vengeful, just protecting others and doing what's right.

  • @edward18517

Ridley killed her parents. There is a reason she despises Space Pirates with a vengence.

  • good for her

  • @DontEatWhales There are other ways, but its not necessarily the wrong way. We don't really know anything about Samus, her character has never been on display, all we have is the image we superimposed on her. You look at someone in Samus' situation, she's not going many people close to her. So of course the few people that she does let in, she will be overly attached to them. So its not such an odd thing for a person like that, it just didn't mesh with peoples image.

  • @sepewrath

I'm not saying that what Nintendo did with Samus' character was wrong. What I am saying is, it was done poorly and executed poorly. What most of us expect from Samus is a strong female protagonist who does not conform to the typical stereotypes of females. Yes, it didn't mesh with people's images but that is precisely the point. The character development should have been taken slowly instead of showing Samus almost opposite to what we expect of her.

  • @DontEatWhales Well what you have to keep in mind is its not your character. They don't have to keep in mind what you expect of undeveloped character. On top of that, what was "sterotypical female" about it? A male can have the exact same character, looking up to someone as a father figure and all that. The only thing "female" you can say about is, is the maternal instincts towards the baby Metroid. And that's a product of Metroid II and Super Metroid.

  • @sepewrath While taking that direction isn't a bad idea, taking it to extremes and portraying her as a useless stereotype who needs a man to order her around and is basically a huge fucking coward is what destroyed this game.

  • @deifufu Would it had been better if it were Arina Malkovich? What difference does it make if it was a man or a woman? That's a poor way to view it. If you agree to take orders from someone, its going to be a man or woman, last I checked, those are the only options you have. When it comes to help, even Superman needs help every now and then, there's nothing wrong with that. And a huge coward would have never been there to begin with, so that comment is just absolutely wrong.

  • @sepewrath Not to mention she's an orphan that had her parents killed by the space pirates who has been trained since early on by aliens to be a killing machine to begin with.

  • @sepewrath well said

  • Other M was a bit exagerated with cutscenes but the gameplay was pretty cool since it was classic Metroid gameplay but in a 3-dimensional game with some pretty awesome new moves such as Lethal Strike. If Other M hadn't been released, Metroid fans such as myself would wonder, "Who the heck was Adam Malkovich?" Games that still need to be made though are Metroid Prime 4, the rumored Metroid Dread, and something I would like to see is Samus's begginings (her human colony, Ridley, and the Chozo).

  • @XPersondudeX hey man adam malcovich is also in metroid fusion we can't see him but we hear his name

  • not the best Metroid, no. The game was alright. I liked the cutscenes. especially the Ridley one. I personally find Samus her breakdown not as bad as anyone says. Nobody really knew what the woman was going through under that heavy armor in the previous games. My only complaint is that it was quite short and it only had a few nice tracks. But this track, man. This is beautiful.

  • U guys can hate all u want but remember this, YOU bought the game and/or rented the game meaning u paid for it and nintendo got it's money , so do u really think they care what u think of it even though they got there money?

  • this fuck song make me sad :(

    oh, mistake *awesome song. :c

  • love this song and this game.

and in case you didn't notice, other than the scene where her best friend goes off to die (and the widely debated scene with ridley), samus stays outwardly emotionless.

all the "confession time" emotions are kept inside.

  • I love this song. There are no words.

  • this almost made me cry..... and also im about to right now lol

  • This isn't monotone enough to be Samus's theme.

  • When i finished THE whole thing even the last mission that it was getting the helmet of adam with "zero suit samus"...i felt insatisfied with the game i wanted MORE...BUT i really enjoyed the story...it was a really big turn of events that i really wasnt expecting...about the OST well it has cool tracks but they are not the same i expected something like the past games but anyways i think the game is an excellent game and i love it. period

  • this music was really good it made the game sound complete

  • I admit the gameplay wasn't the greatest, but it wasn't that bad.

  • I don't get why people hate on this game. This game showed just who Samus truly is under that cold, robotic like armor. She cares for people, she even cared for the little metroid that saved her life. When it died to save her, it put her in a depressed (?) state, thus this game comes along and she's vulnerable. She listens to authority (Adam). If you didn't feel the slightest bit of emotion from the games story, well you've must have a heart of stone or didn't understand the story.

  • @soccerfan384 ja you're alright this game is fantastic and sad for the bad past :( poor samus she lot everyone the parents, the baby , Adam :'''( she want help every one at the cost of dying. she's an amazing womans is my 2nd fave nintendo character

  • This would make an epic clean guitar solo

  • @ageshero I have to say I hate Harry Potter... BUT your gonna have to prove to me how this game is bad.

  • This game was the best Metroid to date. People who don't like it don't have any taste in a truly great game. This game brings out so much detail about Samus, that no other Metroid could. We used to see Samus as a dull Bounty Hunter that just went through the normal missions, which was kinda boring :P This game brought on a whole new concept to the Metroid series like Fusion did... Metroid Other M is a 10/10 game. I got chills all over every cinematic in the game (especially the Ridley battle)

  • @Thequarantined2141 This game turns samus into a Sexy anime character, with poorly written emotions.

You are just like the harry potter fans not being able to admit the last 3 movies sucked.

  • people who dont like this game stfu, just please shut the fuck up!

  • @ThePaladin5084 Amen.

  • prefer her original theme song, a lot.

  • Stop complaining about this game. the reason why Samus is out of character is because she lost something that was like a child to her.

  • @LucasJayLikesgaming except she's not out of character. Samus was made to be a character that people could play as themselves, sort of like Master Chief or Link. That doesn't mean she can't have a backstory but, it really wasn't until Metroid Fusion and Other M that they started to give her a voice and personality. In fact, people go back and play Fusion, a lot of her personality in that game matches up with Other Ms.

  • @Jarrecko yeah, that's what I meant, I just said it wrong. Heh. But I agree 100% thanks ^^

  • Metroid Other M changed my view of Samus. I thought she was a cold, distant bounty hunter with a dark past. Now I see her as a woman that undergoes extreme amounts of stress on each mission, taking them on as stoically as she can.

  • But what's a little emotion in games sometimes? It's not like it was the worst game ever.

  • @erkpwnzall The most sad part of the metroid serie was between the end of Metroid II and the end of Super Metroid... That Larva....

It didn't need emotional music or flashback, but a touching story

  • What I really hated about the game was that there were ridiculous twists. The biggest one was when Samus was hugging Adam's helmet and the alarm went off. Another thing was that there was no point in playing a Samus in her zero-suit form because you only get to play as her once.

  • Even if Samus is one of the most badass video game characters ever, she's still a human, so stop complaining about her actually having a heart.

Video games ain't all about guns 'n gore

  • Soundtrack is awesome for other m. I love it.

  • The problem with people reviewing the games is that they are constantly looking at the negative things and never the good things about something, the same goes for everything else. Other M took the classic 3rd person view Super Metroid and the earlier Metroid games and brought it back, while mixing in the first person view that the Prime series introduced. But it should be right that Samus show some emotion, she IS still human after all. If people want lifeless robots, let them take over

  • all i liked as far as bosses on this game was the nighmare of terror remake. i thought they did a good job with him

  • The reason why people hated Other M is because the very "emotion" the game was trying to give you was executed kinda poorly in my opinion.

  • @SuperSketch008 Exactly, and Sakamoto did a poor job with the story. The gameplay is kinda okay, but not too special.

  • @TheWhistleTeam I did enjoy the development of Anthony Higgs though, I want to see more of him. And apparantly, in Japan, Samus was always portrayed as a cocky, immature teenager (especially in the manga), so this game is actually an improvement of her character (Aside from the whole random PTSD thing). The one time where Americanization prevails, I guess.

  • @TheWhistleTeam

When he only needed to put you in an insolated planet, exploring every nook and cranny of it, obtaining powerups, defeating alien monstrosities and a story ala prime with lores, with the same gameplay as other m, (except the bullshits of over the shoulder, where's waldo and cutscenes that last longer than 10 seconds like those in prime) but apparently melodrama is more important than the gameplay in VIDEOGAMES, VIDEOGAMES man.

  • @TheWhistleTeam at least if you played metroid fusion, this will clear some answers about that game

  • @TheWhistleTeam I saw it coming a billion miles away. Metroid fusion was a bit rigid for no reason, plus the color palette for this 3D(polygonal gam) didn't seem to care about what the prime series showed that worked. It's kinda like ang lee's green hulk. The guy in charge just doesn't really get metroid, at least by himself. Some of what he wants is noble and I wanted a bit more story in my metroid. But he isn't the one who knows how it'd work in this universe's style(at least by himself).

  • @SuperSketch008 And you were this weird made up character called "adam"'s bitch. nintendo added him into fusion only to attempt to convey a deeper storyline, only to add to the later games the fact that it made it even less lonely, where as metroid should be SCARY and LONELY and action packed. the creatures stopped explodeing too.... where is my gritty bladerunner/alien Metroid that remakes the first 3 games

  • @SuperSketch008 joking?! it's awesome to get the game sofisticated and emotional

  • @nintengamer3v0lve Yeah, it is awesome, but they failed to EXECUTE emotion. As in the dialogue and scripting wasn't emotional enough.

  • @SuperSketch008 ok i kindda agreed but the music is really good dude

  • @SuperSketch008 it's kinda good in my opinion. the story kept you wondering what would happen next.

  • @yourfreakyneighbourh It did keep you in suspense, but when everything was revealed, it was all so confusing and how they never mentioned the "Deleter's" identity (I know it was James, but I'm talking about a first playthrough) made it harder to take the game seriously.

  • @SuperSketch008 Wasn't confusing to my friends and I on our first times through...

  • @bob3295 I thought the game was great but the soundtrack was lame.

  • I love this song. It always makes me so emotional.Other M had a kick ass story line, great graphics, and emotional plot detail. Great music. I have no clue why people are hating on it so badly. huh. i guess humans can not except change.

  • YOU GOT THAT RIGHT DARKLY 41

  • Who said a man can't cry if they herd this??

  • Samus is a great character. For her strength and nobility to help others even with such a sad backstory. I will always be a metroid fan. I am also somewhat happy they changed the samus theme. It much more fit her for this game. Long live metroid.

  • @VideoGameGirl1100 Master Chief

    Solid Snake

    Kratos

Even The Strongest Characters Have their flaws And Samus Aran is no Exception

  • @Alienpred32

    yeah... flawed like ur FACE

    stfu faggot

  • The only reason G4 gave it a bad review is cause they don't know the true story. They said Adam was like Samus's boyfriend, but they didn't play the game and find out that Adam is like a father figure. And the emotional part, well how would you feel if you haven't seen your friends in forever. Fuck G4's review

  • I was expecting the other theme but i have to say this one is better it sounds so fitting to samus in this game

  • This is a very good piece of music. It puts me in Samus's suit and inside of her gunship and I think about all of what happened in the past games. Many, many battles...

  • What I love about Other M is it answered so many questions I had from Fusion. When I played Fusion, I was like, "Who the hell is adam?"

    Now I know

  • FUCK THE HATERS!!!! ARAN IS A STRONG WOMAN! STRONGER THAN IVE EVER SEEN ITS LED ME TO B STRONGER BECAUSE OF THIS SERIES!!!!! UNLIKE THAT GREEN SUITED PIECE OF HORSE SHIT CALLED MC!

  • I'm happy that I baught this game. And when I heard this song...it was touching. I listen to it often when I ponder... Such a lovely melody.

  • This Metroid is AMAZING! It filled up the time between Super Metroid and the Prime series, with great gameplay, some very deep story (MANY moments got me teary eyed), and GREAT music

  • This game was so awesome! Best Metroid yet! =)

  • @Metroid4everPro agreed all the way

  • This song is really beautiful. It completely took me by surprise when I first heard it. Very unusual for a Metroid game but certainly fits this game well and is one of my favourite tunes from the Metroid series.

  • It is a very nice game... Hope they will make another one....

  • this would sound like a good intro to Heal the World by Michael Jackson.

  • Love this soundtrack, epic thoe the helmet version is more epic :)

  • This game made samus look like a human being not like in prime where they made her a robot

  • everybody is complaining that the game is too emotional... i don't have it, but i think that's good. what metroid has been lacking IS emotion.

  • @digimaster107 Very well put. . . .I mean considering all that Samus has been through. . .

  • @digimaster107 It already had. End of Metroid II : Last Metroid thinks Samus is his mommy, and Samus won't shoot it. It's so cute. Super Metroid : on Tourian, he attacks her, but recognizes her and flees of shame. Then at the end, the Metroid Larva attacks Mother Brain to save Samus, heal her, and at the moment he could have attacked Mother Brain again, he gets killed, falls on Samus. Most sad part from metroid ever. Samus gets mad and destroy Mother Brain. Then Zebes explodes. Poor Samus

  • @digimaster107 Metroid doesn't need forced "emotion". It doesn't need to cop out and try and be like other games that have overdramatic stories, and 15 minute long cutscenes. The emotion you would get while playing a true Metroid game comes from exploring the worlds., and the atmosphere is gives off. Other M is simply isn't a Metroid game. It uses the Metroid name, but it's just a generic action game with an awful plot and poor writing.

  • @digimaster107 Yeah I havn't had the chance to play it either but the cutscenes are very well made in my opinion.

    Inb4trollsbetrollin'

  • @digimaster107

What Metroid actually doesn't even need is emotion and thick storyline. Check the Prime series for one. None of them had a deep storyline, or barely even any cutscenes, and they were one of the best games ever made. I'm not saying Other M is bad, because I loved this game. The story would've been better, if they'd had better actors. And the sudden emotional burst of the cold bounty hunter just seemed wrong. Samus is better off left silent.

  • @digimaster107 the game does have lots of emotion, but the new remix for previous songs are badass.

  • this song is awsome and probaly the best one ,,, and the cutsceenes was a good add cause when i played prime i ept on thinking what is samus thinking

  • By the way thanks for posting all these songs.

  • Actually not a bad tune. I don't know why this game's soundtrack is getting ripped to shreds, it seems like since that ridiculous G4 review (which never should've been approved by the higher ups) everybody has been exaggerating the game's issues and hating on things for no reason. Is the soundtrack as good as past Metroid games? No, but it does have some good music.

  • @NYYanks2003040506 Haters gonna hate, but for me this game is very good. Nothing really extraordinary, but good and very fun to play. I don't care for the cutscenes.

  • @TheWhistleTeam

I didn't mind the cutscenes but there were too many. I think next time they should cut the storytelling down a little bit though, I hope there's a story and that Samus still talks but just don't make it as big a part of the game as it was in Other M. I thought the gameplay was definitely very good and that's the biggest part of a Metroid game. Considering that Team Ninja was forced to use only the remote I think they did a good job.

  • @TheWhistleTeam I really thought I wouldn't like the cutscenes either, but after getting on the game and playing it, I kinda like them. In a way, it also showed how human Samus really is. I mean, through the old and very amazing metroid games, we had tons of fun and others could have their word (such as Adam in Fuision), but we never received much from Samus. I was fairly happy to see her unleash some personality, and to witness how she reacts to things, to see how human she really was.

  • @TheWhistleTeam In my opinion, the cutscenes sort of made the game's storyline, it's meant to be Samus's past, even if they were made poorly, and I quite enjoyed the story the cutscenes provided.

  • @NYYanks2003040506 I agree with you 100%... Both the game and its music were great! The game could have been better with the controls a little or at least the Lock on to fire missles thing could have been faster, But overall I give it 10 for story/backstory, 10 for graphics, and 9 for controls.

  • @NYYanks2003040506 that's EXACTLY what i think. i bet you without g4's review of metroid other m,this game would have alot less hate.

  • @NYYanks2003040506 It's not bad at all...For a team ninja game... Metroid deserves way better.

  • Comment removed

  • @NYYanks2003040506

It hits some very high notes at times, but it has a lot of atonal atmospheric crap that just can't compete with some of the melodic masterpieces of earlier games. For example, if I ask you to recall Sector 3's theme, you likely can't do it. How about Norfairs from Super Metroid? A counter example, try to recall the Final Boss theme or the escape from Sector 0 theme, much stronger pieces. Earlier games had much more of that however.

  • HI! Great job! BTW. I am looking 4 the other version of this song. The one that plays when Samus finds the helmet. It's kinda more epic.

    Thx

  • @DONUTS30 Download the complete soundtrack, is there =3

  • @TheWhistleTeam Sorry man, it isn't! I downloaded it, but it isn't there! u.u

  • @TheWhistleTeam it's not there :(

  • @TheWhistleTeam What's the name of that version?

  • Awww...sounds like a lullaby for her...

  • this song for some reason brings up a tear to my eye

  • This is the Credits music

  • @sonicthehedgehog29 You're wrong, the credit music is completely different. This music is the alternate title screen one.

  • @sonicthehedgehog29

Exactly, it's the alternate title screen theme.

btw, the real theme of Samus Aran plays when the story journal appears when loading the game.

  • Download link is conspicuously absent. Is this one available?

  • @SelkitFox Added, sorry.

  • @TheWhistleTeam Cheers. Thank you.

  • *still lookin 4 that commerical theme

  • @kiyoo23maple Not in the game disc, sorry.
