There is a great book about the ABA called "Loose Balls" written by Terry pluto, they covered some very interesting stuff,I have'nt watched this yet I'm about to, hopefully they talk about the bounties, smoking on the sidelines, best fro(Darnell Hillman) & all the other cool stuff.
They feature this on the "new ABA" homepage. I can't name one player in the "new" league, and chances are, another team will have folded by the time I finish this sentence.
i remember as a kid in the early '70s pulling ABA basketball cards out of packs: George McGinnis, Dr.J (if you were lucky!), Louie Dampier, Dan Issel, etc....that was my introduction to the ABA
very good

The Spirits Of St. Louis owners are STILL making the "Brown Ball" league pay! That is justice!

Fellow ABA teams now in the NBA are STILL paying as well. That's not justice.

Morton Downey Jr owned part of the Florida team! I love it!

Actually it was the New Orleans Buccaneers.

Thanks! Did Downey really sell his sesk to Abby Hoffman so he could stand on it and yell out during an anti-war protest?

It was actually Bob Bass, the coach & GM of the Miami Floridians franchise, who sold the desk to Hoffman.

Apparently, the expansion fee is 10K. If you've got 10K and can afford to pay 8 guys on top of that, join the ABA!
